Who said this engine was a 1J? And further more, At the simplest you could have just done a wiki search on toyota JZ engines and noted that 1Js were made till 2007 and that Chasers/etc. were made after 1997 etc. etc.. But really this engine isnt a 1J anyway.

so how do they base the year of the engine in this case being a 1.5jz? he never stated in his details that it was a vvti 1jz in which case yes u are correct.

    Its a 2JZ with a 1JZ head.

no wonder some many people are avoiding here now, nothing people do is ever right for some.

obviously people need to also read up on their engine/law knowledge, the block is a 2jz from a '94 supra, the head is a 92 soarer and the car is a '97 s14. It is 100% street legal.

How??? well it is simple, you bring the emissions standards of the engine up to the car's standards, so it is using the s14 carbon canister, cat etc.

I also find it amusing how people think that this won't see the numbers I want. especially when they no nothing else about the car, like what boost levels, what fuel or anything like that.

obviously, if anyone knew what they were actually looking at they would also realise that the head is not a vvti just by looking at the covers

600hp on 440cc Injectors? Thats probably why they dont think you will see 600hp.

    I'm doing a 1J build in my S15 atm.

I can't see you making that sort of power with 440's, but some bigger injectors and it's very much possible.

And just wondering, but why did you put the 1JZ head on the 2JZ bottom end? It would have been better to keep the 2JZ head as well.

    A 2JZ head flows around 240cfm at .4" inlet and 155cfm at .4" ex where as a 1JZ head flows 215cfm at .4" inlet and 135cfm at .4" ex.

So there for a 2JZ-GTE head would be a better option than a 1JZ head on the 3L bottom end.

I didn't get the complete engine, nor is it a 2jz gTe,

The other reason behind utilising the 1jz head is, it would allow me to reuse all my accessories.

    funkin haters

    By haters you mean realists....

you are not going to make 500hp+ on 6 x 440cc injectors....no matter what fuel you run.
And the 37/01 emission that that 200sx is complied to are bullshit hard to match unless you are going to run lpg.
You are definitely going to have troubles making them with a donkey old non VVTi JZ motor.

There is a lot more to emissions than just carbon canisters and cat converters....most is to do with combustion chamber design/how complete the burn is and how quickly the O2 feed back can come online.
If OP had of done some research, he would have realised that if he had of chosen a Pre 96 model, he wouldn't have any hoops to jump through at all. Not saying he won't be able to get it passed, but chances are if it does it would be on the sly.

Your typical Boost cry-baby will respond with haters....a smart person would ignore the little digs and take the information on board and do something about it.

Oh and nice ride by the way, looks like it should be a pretty clean swap when finishedand should make some descent power with some bigger injectors rolleyes.gif

The hate is strong in this thread, I don't really understand, sure he has listed 440cc injectors but sure his planning to change them still if his aiming for 600hp, it's not like the injectors are a big job to change

these are the ones through the build process. (in no particular order)

and for all those that have argued about not getting to 600hp, this is true on 440s, I agree, however, that is an esitmated goal power figure, there for will be making the switch later on to ID 2000 and E85 when I plan on getting to that stage.

Go ID2000 and e85 straight off the bat, that and a descent three way cat converter and you'll pass emissions no worries. You'll have to double up on the 044's to make it all work though.

Please tell me you are ditching the checker plate facia.
