Hey

Anyone in Australia?

I need to find someone who stocks/sells OVAL stainless exhaust tubing and the "transition pieces" that make it round back to oval & vice versa

Dont need mufflers, just the tubing and transitions

I know where I can get it in USA and import but hoping to find someone in Australia...

Must be premium stainless quality and not just round pipe simply squashed by a fat man sitting on the round tubing lol........ (Done properly to make it oval - want consistency in the of the actual tubing flow)

Thanks

Talk to Craig @ Extreme Custom Engineering. I've talked to him about it in the past, I believe he makes his own.

What the difference in the performance side of things with cylinder piping and oval piping?

Fuck all, but if you don't have much room it's a dickload easier to fit it in an area.

Sorry for the long read and my babble!

its really all about what size you can fit. If I could fit a round one, I would but I cant so I need to go to Oval to get more flow.. (Oval can be mounted on a different angle etc to get clearance etc etc)

From the research I have done which is quite extensive but I may still be wrong with some things... This is what I have found

Round is slightly better for a few reasons (and much more simple and cheaper) if you can fit it due to when its oval, you kinda have slightly more "how do I explain it" ... err flow resistance due to the pipe not being round, its well sqaushed lol so you will see from the chart...... (unless you use the chart and correctly size it and then there isnt any difference apparently)
In other words if you have room for a 3 inch pipe max, you are better to go a 3 inch round pipe then a oval 1 3/4" x 3" as this would only work out to be the same flow as a 2 1/2" inch round.....

Oval is also a pain in the arse in many cases compared to round because to get the same flow, one part is smaller and one much larger so you need MORE room underneath to get the same flow (but in my case there is more room to go oval then round)

Having said that, the Nascar teams all used OVAL (I dont know if they still do OR if it was a requirement in the laws of Nascar racing) but surely if they use it, it cant be much difference.

As said, from what I have read, there isnt much difference at all and no difference really when sized correctly (see chart) and I will post up the flow comparison equivalence chart from the leading manufacturer in USA who do race cars for many years

You will see from the chart what I mean about flow resistence overall due to size being bigger in one part but smaller in the other..

Having said that, this chart is supposed to show the size you go to, to get the same flow with oval as you would with round... (so if you can fit the correctly sized oval then it will be the same flow as round)

I am only going oval due to the fact I dont have enough room underneath for legal clearance of a large round pipe so I have to go Oval to get the size/flow I need....... (but the muffler and exit pipe will be round)

In my case, I can fit the larger oval and get a lot more flow then I could with a round pipe.......
