I wouldn't pay $2 for it but thats because I hate Holdens!!!!! (bring it on) but I can appreciate the time, money and effort that has gone into that car and to be honest I think its worth more!

Not bad, i like how they have fitted useless tv screens where the harness' should mount too

What kind of power does it make?

I'd say it's worth it "IF" everything it checks out mechanically and runs well.

If you are looking at buying it, i would suggest sighting receipts for things such as the gearbox rebuild, what kind of engine work has it had done in preparartion for the forced induction?

Personally I wouldn't pay that. I don't know if it's worth that but I'd stick with your 32 mate.

I just like skylines over old commy's, that's all.

Having said that, that VL does look neat and tidy, and has definately been looked after.

Oh wow. you mean you purchased a 20 year old nissan with a fluro engine bay?!!?

My apologies good sir, it appears you are a true car enthusiast. would you mind rebuilding my engine for me? thanks a bunch! dont worry it isnt a vtec so you wont get confused by it. thumbsup.gif

I would be finding out what if anything has been done to the motor, such as lower compression? Rebuild? Who by? Is this whole build just a backyard job or do they have receipts from a credible workshop?

Take a good look to see if the car is legal, BOV plumbed back, any mod plates if it's been an engine transplant V8 into a 6 model.

I thought you would get more power than that from a Holden V8 with small twins.

IMO it seems like it would be a good deal. alot of money has obviously been spent. if it came with a dyno sheet to prove the power and some receipts for the work completed to the engine so you know it will handle that power and not shit itself the first time you gave it some, then you might have found youself a good cruiser/drag strip car.

with twin turbo there will obviously be alot more power to gain, i think it should be able to get up round the 500hp+.

Why does the car have turbos from a 3L motor on a 5L???

No I wouldn't.

A naturally aspirated 5 litre can do that...

But with all due respect, you give the impression of severe stupidity and should probably burn your Datsun before you cause yourself grief.

VG30s are a pretty common choice when it comes to V8 turbo conversions.

^ This.

Otherwise you'll get owned by a car that was built to sell. (Aka. Backyard betty).

hell yes thats cheap mate, you would never find a calais turbo that good for ten grand, dont listen to dickheads that are holden bashers.because their only gonna diss it because its not a nissan. if it was an r31 that looked that good and made 320hp then every1 on here would love it, make your own dessision, if your after something like that imo youve found it

Ma77Y
Post #24

Mate if it is that cheap there is a reason

320 hp @10 psi is only 238kw... it just doesnt seem right now do it??

Personally i wouldnt touch it. ( i dont mind older holden v8s ) so i am not holden bashing.
But would u sell a car with all that for that little......??

But seeing as you own a r32 (which are more common then most vls now) you are a true car enthusiast i never knew that is what happened when you bough cars like that.... hmmm I guess we all learn something new everyday.

Power does not mean much with V8s its all torque.
And wtf is the go with the role cage and tv screens im shure that is not legal because if you stop fast people will loose teeth.
But oh well its a old holden they probley dont have teeth to start with.

it would definatly be worth it, if mechanically it was in good shape, but why would someone spend all that money in the first place, to sell it under priced, there will be something mechanically wrong with it for sure, or it'll cost thousands to get the thing on the road again.

get it inspected by a professional, if it all sounds positive you've found yourself a good buy, but this is unlikely if it can even be registered at all, street commodores magazine published an article a couple of months back on turboing a 5L, didn't seam to difficult, low power could be the result of a backyard job.

Fuck 10k seems fairly reasonable to me, People are selling stock vl's with calais front and ebay bolt on turbo's for 5k+ every day of the week.

OT: Stick with the r32

dont know if its just me, but, why would they install turbos onto the standard manifold. you'd think because they have put a lot of work into the look of it, they'd have spent the time and money to atleast get a custom manifold made up to improve the HP of the car.

personally, unless you are willing to risk the thing blowing up on you, i'd stay well away from it.

cant judge a book by it's cover. may look nice on the outside, but what's the engine like etc etc.
