Since it seems to come up so much I thought Id write up a list of cars that P platers can drive that are actually kind of cool. This is just to give them some sort of ideas what they can get while on their Ps so they dont have to be resorted of standard Commodores or Falcons Since it is a topic that comes up so much the site Mods might want to sticky it. Also if you can think of anything please post it up and I'll change this first post to make it easy for everyone Ok I'll Brake it up into 3 sections, Local, Japanese and Euro Most of these cars can be found for under $20 000 which in this day and age is not that harda stretch. They might not all be perhaps first cars, but certainly could easily be 2nd cars on a budget. Local Cars Any Holden Ute - S ute is advised as it has many options and with a nice set of wheels can look very nice Ford UTE - probably be looking at something like a XR6 non turbo they have a really nice look and are quite aggressive Ford XR6 sedan - same looks as the XR8 only in a 6 cylinder and looks really good Holden S commodore - while still being a commodore the S pack is a good idea as it has many options and looks good Holden Commodore Equipe - Yeah still a standard 6 commodore but if you get the VX model it has a really nice bodykit and 17" wheels standard and in Red look amazing Ford Mustang - Epitimises the idea of COOL, While very very hard to find a newer model Mustang in a 6 Cylinder model finding older Cooler 1960s versions in a 6 isn't THAT hard. but is a VERY COOL car that is P plate friendly Chrysler Valiant with Hemi 215, 245 or 265 engines. - Old school cool again, maybe not as much as the Mustang. You might be able to find a 6 Cylinder Charger around somewhere that has the presence almost of the Mustang. Again P plater friendly if in 6 Cyl Holden SV6 - Probably the closest thing you can get to an SS without getting the V8 Japanese Cars Toyota Supra - Had to be the First on the list, looks amazing make sure you get the NON turbo model, will go about as hard as a Falcadore but will sound so much better and handles really well Honda Integra Type R or S - VTEC baby - people make fun but there is no denying the amazing performance of the Honda engine not to mention the Integra DC5 looks the Business Nissan 200sx S15 Autech - Such an over looked car, looks just like a turbo car but P plate friendly, SEXY SEXY SEXY and make the same power as the Aussie Delivered Turbo model Mitsubishi FTO - Might not be everyone piece of cake but for an old car it still looks good and is very sporty to drive Honda Civic Type R - similar to the integra but much cheaper, widely known for its sporty handling and peaky engine, cheap to run and fun to drive. Toyota Celica - No mistaking it a good looking car with a nice interior and Toyota reliability in a 2 seat sports car Mazda MX5 - Like the FTO might not be for everyone but anyone who has driven one knows they put smiles on faces Toyota Hilux - Espically the new one, with nice set of wheels (big ones and good paint job) they turn heads - Very cool, just becareful of the whole defect for wheels thing Honda S2000 - Probably the most sporty and agressive car you can get on your Ps with 240hp and Hondas amazing Vtec engine and rear wheel drive it doesn't get much better than that - In fact some Japanese automotive journalist rate the S2000 better than the S15 and FD Rx7 in stock form. Toyota MR2 - Older models look like Ferraris - How could that be a bad car, newer ones look a little like Porches but dont pull it off so well. Again make sure you buy NON Turbo. Mazda 3 SP23 or SP20 - Good looking cars that go pretty well, both the newer and older models have really nice interiors but again it is in the border line pile with Mitsubishi Lancers as whither it is cool or not Nissan Silvia/180sx - unfortunatly the really only P plate friendlt cars you will find are the CA18DE which doesn't pack a lot of anything, and most of them are the Silvia shape, however you can every now and then find a 180sx or Silvia with a SR20DE under the hood which will be heaps of fun to drive even without the turbo. Of course it is also RWD Honda Prelude - A cool car in its own right, often overshadowed by the Integra and Civic Type R, this 2 door sports car if done up right is worthy of being on this list. Toyota AE86 Corolla - JDM DRIFTO BABY - the original drift car, doesn't go all that hard in stock form but has heaps of street cred and can be made to go well, a good balanced car with RWD and the possibility of good engine. R34 Nissan Skyline GT - So long as it is non turbo it is legal, and one amazing looking car for a P plater Nissan pulsar vz-r (jn15) - Great P plater Pocket Rockets with the sr16ve engine not much will keep up with it. - Even the N14 SSS pulsar is a good bet with the SR20DE. Toyota Corolla Levin GT - Great engine good lookers cant go wrong Mitsubishi Ralliart Magna - Well it is a Ralliart looks pretty good and goes well even for a large family car. Subaru Impreza RX/RS/GX - Quite cheap these days, AWD and atleast a 2L Boxer Engine new models have a 2.5L. AWESOME GRIP, decent performance, sound wicked with an exhaust. And if you are cleaver you can bolt a STi wing and WRX bonnet on to fake it until you make it - Just dont drag any V8s at the lights. European Cars BMW E30 & E36 325i and 318is - Under 10k, BMW reliability, still look good and great in the twisty stuff BMW 535iM and 535is - Gutsey, good straight line speed, look good and of course made amazingly well. Alfa Romeo 105 coupe - good looker, coupe body and fun to drive This post has been edited by Street Tuned: Sep 18 2008, 07:38 PM -------------------- Go to school, Get good grades, Get a Job, Go to Work, Get Married, Have some Kids, Pay your Taxes, Pay your Bills, Watch your Tv, Follow Fashion, Act Normal and Consume all you can,

QUOTE(sholm23 @ Sep 18 2008, 08:35 PM) This is a great thread. Many idiots can learn that you can still have fun on your P's. Mitsubishi Lancer. Nissan Pulsar. Shutup all you haters, there great P plater cars and drive great, and theres actually people out there that prefer them over the rest. Yeah, but those are also the people who prefer sex with plants. |

Cool doesn't have a price tag, but with so many people cracking the shits that they cant drive WRXs, SS commodores and 180sxs this at least gives P platers some idea of what else is out there outside of Falcadores |

amazed no one has mentioned the jdm nissan pulsar vz-r (jn15) these thing's are fuckin weapons with the sr16ve motor, 140kw stock out of the factory is a pretty good effort, considering the new golf gti is somewhere around 147kw stock... along with a bunch of other jap turbo cars which are around the same power.. the vz-r would make a pretty quick p plater car imo |
