there not actual messurements just examples. can you do that no troubles? appart from a bit of body modifacation.

Thanks ben.

Look in a lot of the street machine mags, see alot of road going cars that have been tubbed, or slightly tubbed.

And they are still street legal.

i was reading a street commodores, an older issue and tubbing was in there engineering section question place. and the engineer said that tubbing can be done if it does not affect the structual strength of the car and doesnt effect like back seats if u keep them in or seat belt anchorage points. and as for your second question, i thought you have to have the same diameter rims on both wheels. as for width, i think the front cannot be smaller than what they came stock as or a minimum or 5" to a maximum of 10" at the front

As far as I know mini tubbing is legal as it doesnt effect the chassy rail, where as a full tub moves the rail hence makes it illegal.

Also legal and not easily spotted might go hand in hand tongue.gif

What state are you in ? makes it a bit hard to give you an exact answer

what about nsw? if you tubbed say a few inches or so would it be legal with no engineering etc?

You'd find the problem would moreso lie in the wheel width and those being legal/illegal. The maximum width is 1.3 times the manufactuer's widest optional tyre.

So if your car came with 5" wide tyres, fitting 10" wide is highly illegal, and trust me, they'll notice.

But lets just say in NSW as the above post of yours, you can get bigger/wider wheels engineered so totally legal.

hondapwr, It has,is and will be done many times again. Best bit of advice I can give is talk to an workshop that carries out these mods wink.gif

rx4 guy, im in victoria. its nit going to be massive tubbing but i'd like bigger wheels at the rear.

sedate looking

Victory is ok but you will not get ANY kind of wheel tubs passed and engineered in qld... Have tried, and my brother would love to with his 15x 15's on his chev but will not happen in qld.

Would something like this have to be engineered?

imo it looks rediculous... looks stupid but by the looks of it you would need engineering for that...

would be better off with a nice set of 19's or 20's
