Just wondering about speed camera these days (those in white Landcruiser 4WDs) - in the old days there used to be a blue box outside of the 4WD which is the bright flash. These days all I can see is the 4WD and a sign that says "speed camera in use" but haven't noticed that same blue box situated outside the vehicle. Do the still always flash unconditionally day or night when they snap a car speeding? And what is the general rule - if the 4WD is on one side of the road, do they also monitor the opposite side?

The flash is on the bull bar at the front of the car. |

i got told in nsw it is illegal for them to flash oncoming traffic because the flash blinds the drivers... is this true and also does it apply in qld if so it should because it really is dangerous to flash oncoming drivers but none the less if your speeding then you deserve to be caught if only there were more cops and speed cameras in qld as there are in nsw. i feel sorry for the nsw members |

i merged onto the m1 just after the yatla bp, got to 110kph, then my m8 come up beside me, then another on his side so all 3 would have been in a evan line, but as the last come up he was speeding, so as i seen the flash i looked to my right and all of us was in a line, will we all get done or just the calpret? |

I got done at 3pm in the arvo heading on the bruse highway, I was in the leftlane with the speed cam in the middle of the rd, I saw the flash come from the lefthand side window??? |

They dont flash if someone has smashed the fuck out of them or shot them with a highpowered fire arm. |

If it's in the centre median strip, you'll find they're actually set up with two cameras pinging both directions of traffic. They can and do have capabilities to do that. They will always flash, they can and do flash head on, yes it could be argued to be 'blinding', but so far I haven't seen anyone take it to court for it. ROCK ON R~R |

A few years ago i was driving home with my mum at about 10pm, we got flashed head-on, and it was so blinding we veered off the road and almost hit a tree. Mum went directly up to the police station to argue that the flash almost got us killed, but their reaction was pretty much "So what?, Pay the fine" |

apparently, i read this in one of the forms you get with your ticket, they can monitor and book multiple cars at the same time, they put a letter on your car and say car 'a' (you) doing this speed. but im not sure, because I didnt have another speeding car in my photo and i also havent had a ticket for quite some time now. Just somethin i read with my last flash for cash letter. |

They would have to prove beyond all reasonable doubt which car was the speeder in a multi-car photo so therefore they won't fine in the case of multi car photos. I've never seen a fine with more than one car in the photo. However, the angle they take a photo at, you could probably be pinged if you were right next to them - you would have to be slightly in front of you're to the right, or slightly behind if you are to the left of the other car. I don't think the po po would care if council wanted to fine them $60 for operating on a stretch of road that will make them $11ty billion anyway. |

Is it really legal to be standing in the middle of a roundabout? Not really, but I've seen police using LIDAR guns from it  As with many things, technically no, they probably shouldn't. However the fact that the location was approved by a road safety committee and the location agreed opinion will remove any ability to argue against it. ROCK ON R~R |

How bout you's type in www.google.com and do a search for queensland speed camera legislation. Click the first link that comes up. A whole range of pdf files then appear. Read the various pfd's and you'll find out that they can fine a particular car in a multiple-car photo, because the speed camera beam is at a 20degree angle to the road. Trust me, I've been thru the traffic camera office before, and they can pinpoint which car is speeding in any photo. |

Hence the reason why you "AIM" for the speed camera....... destroy the evidence of your speed reading AND do the cops over in insurance

Briefly ignoring what 70NKY has already said, I don't see why people care about the signs anyway. By the time you see that sign sitting beside the vehicle, your chances of being able to slow down enough in time are incredibly slim. At best you'll get a nice photo of your car with the brakelights illuminated, just so you can tell they all work (hint at all Commodore and Falcon drivers  ).And now acknowledging what 70NKY has said - ding ding ding! question has been answered a few times already. they had 2 4wds set up a few k's apart around yatala to ormeau on the M1 the other day, i knew they do it.. jus never seen it on the M1 before. bet they caught a few people.. not me tho |
