I went for a very short drive (luckily I
guess) and at the set of lights right before home.. I'm sitting there at the red
light and hear the aweful knocking type sound.. it's incredibly hard to
describe.. it sounded like a birds wing wacking somewhere under the bonnet..
After closer inspection, the sound was coming from the water return pipe from
the pump to the radiator.. water lapping ontop of itself with a huge air gap..
the water overflow thingy was full.. so I thought it was really wierd.. and
wasn't game to take the radiator cap off at this stage..
I waited an hour or so, and the overflow resourviour thingy was dry as a bone..
so I opened up the radiator and topped it up.. in the hope that it was just low
on water and its just fuckin wierd? .. Well soon after topping it up, I went for
another short drive.. the sound returned about about 5-10 minutes and I quickly
headed home.. and noticed that the temperature guage this time was at about 3/4
way up.. last time I saw it do that was 2 years ago when a water pipe split..
I left it for the night, since this was new years eve, and left it til morning..
now that it's morning.. I'm spewing.. no hoses or anything like that seem
screwed, but I noticed water dripping off the air con compressor.. green water..
radiator water :)
I noticed water seemingly appearing from somewhere behind the power steering
pump bracket.. so I pulled the power steering pump out..
Here's the photo's.. if you know what the hell this could be, please let me
know... I'm thinking head gasket?
These are all photo's of right under the manifold where you'd usually find the
power steering pump... the water seems to originate from no where at first.. no
where higher than just under the manifold is where its originating from..
See how its dry at the top of this
photo, then there's all the water :~(
