EXPLANATION OF SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ITEMS G050100AUN Engine oil and filter The engine oil and filter should be changed at the intervals specified in the maintenance schedule. If the car is being driven in severe conditions, more fre- quent oil and filter changes are required.
G050400AEN-EU Fuel lines, fuel hoses and con- nections Check the fuel lines, fuel hoses and con- nections for leakage and damage. Have an authorized HYUNDAI dealer replace any damaged or leaking parts immediately.
G050600AUN Vapor hose and fuel filler cap The vapor hose and fuel filler cap should be inspected at those intervals specified in the maintenance schedule. Make sure that a new vapor hose or fuel filler cap is correctly replaced.
G050200AUN Drive belts Inspect all drive belts for evidence of cuts, cracks, excessive wear or oil saturation and replace if necessary.
G050300ABH Fuel filter A clogged filter can limit the speed at which the vehicle may be driven, damage the emission system and cause multiple issues such as hard starting. If an exces- sive amount of foreign matter accumu- lates in the fuel tank, the filter may require replacement more frequently. After installing a new filter, run the engine for several minutes, and check for leaks at the connections. Fuel filters should be installed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Maintenance
G050700AUN Vacuum hose Inspect the surface of hoses for evidence of heat and/or mechanical damage. Hard and brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and excessive swelling indi- cate deterioration. Particular attention should be paid to examine those hose surfaces nearest to high heat sources, such as the exhaust manifold. Inspect the hose routing to assure that the hoses do not come in contact with any heat source, sharp edges or moving component which might cause heat dam- age or mechanical wear. Inspect all hose connections, such as clamps and couplings, to make sure they are secure, and that no leaks are pres- ent. Hoses should be replaced immedi- ately if there is any evidence of deterio- ration or damage.
G050800AEN Air cleaner filter A Genuine HYUNDAI air cleaner filter is recommended when the filter is replaced.

POWER STEERING FLUID Type A
Type B
OBH078022
OBH072048L
G090100ABH Checking the power steering fluid level With the vehicle on level ground, check the fluid level in the power steering reser- voir periodically. The fluid should be between MAX and MIN marks on the side of the gauge at the normal temperature.
22
Before adding power steering fluid, thor- oughly clean the area around the reser- voir cap to prevent power steering fluid contamination. If the level is low, add fluid to the MAX level.
✽✽ NOTICE - (if equipped) Check that the fluid level is in the "HOT" range on the gauge. If the fluid is cold, check that it is in the "COLD" range (if equipped).
In the event the power steering system requires frequent addition of fluid, the vehicle should be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
(cid:129) To avoid damage to the power steering pump,do not operate the vehicle for prolonged periods with a low power steering fluid level.
(cid:129) Never start the engine when the
reservoir tank is empty.
(cid:129) When adding fluid,be careful that
dirt does not get into the tank.
(cid:129) Too little fluid can result in increased steering effort and/or noise from the power steering system.
(cid:129) The use of the non-specified fluid could reduce the effectiveness of the power steering system and cause damage to it.
Use only the specified power steering fluid.(Refer to "Recommended lubricants or capacities" in section 8.)
G090200AEN Checking the power steering hose Check the connections for oil leaks, dam- age and twists in the power steering hose before driving.
WASHER FLUID
Maintenance
WARNING - Coolant
(cid:129) Do not use radiator coolant or antifreeze in the washer fluid reservoir.
(cid:129) Radiator coolant can severely obscure visibility when sprayed on the windshield and may cause loss of vehicle control or damage to paint and body trim.
(cid:129) Windshield washer fluid agents contain some amounts of alcohol and can be flammable under cer- tain circumstances. Do not allow sparks or flame to contact the washer fluid or the washer fluid reservoir. Damage to the vehicle or occupants could occur.
(cid:129) Windshield washer fluid is poi- sonous to humans and animals. Do not drink and avoid contacting windshield washer fluid. Serious injury or death could occur.
OBH078008
G120100AUN Checking the washer fluid level The reservoir is translucent so that you can check the level with a quick visual inspection. Check the fluid level in the washer fluid reservoir and add fluid if necessary. Plain water may be used if washer fluid is not available. However, use washer solvent with antifreeze characteristics in cold cli- mates to prevent freezing.
