â–  Example for customizing wallpapers You can customize the display from clock or wallpaper.

1Customized Features

• When importing wallpaper files, the image must be in the USB flash drive’s root directory. Images in a folder cannot be imported.

• The file format of the image that can be imported

is BMP (bmp) or JPEG (jpg).

• The individual file size limit is 2 MB. • The maximum image size is 1,920 x 936 pixels. If the image size was less than 480 x 234 pixels, the image is displayed in the middle of the screen with the extra area appearing in black.

• Up to 255 files can be selected. • The file name must be fewer than 64 characters.

â–  Importing wallpapers from USB You can import up to three images, one at a time for wallpaper from a USB flash drive.

Select Import Wallpaper, from Customize Settings and properly connect a USB flash drive to store an image.

All the keys have an immobilizer system. The immobilizer system helps to protect against vehicle theft.

The keys contain precision electronics. Adhere to the following advice to prevent damage to the electronics: • Do not leave the keys in direct sunlight, or in

locations with high temperature or high humidity. • Do not drop the keys or set heavy objects on them. • Keep the keys away from liquids. • Do not take the keys apart except for replacing the

battery.

If the circuits in the keys are damaged, the engine may not start, and the remote transmitter may not work. If the keys do not work properly, have them inspected by a dealer.

If you do not open a door within 30 seconds of unlocking the vehicle with the remote transmitter, the doors will automatically relock. You can change the relock timer setting.

If the interior light switch is in the door activated position, the interior lights come on when you press the unlock button. No doors opened: The lights fade out after 30 seconds. Doors relocked with the remote: The lights go off immediately.

The remote transmitter uses low-power signals, so the operating range may vary depending on the surroundings.

The remote will not lock the vehicle when a door is open.

If the distance at which it works varies, the battery is probably low. If the LED does not come on when you press a button, the battery is dead.

Security System

Immobilizer System The immobilizer system prevents a key that has not been pre-registered from starting the engine. Each key contains electronic transmitters that use electronic signals to verify the key.

Pay attention to the following when inserting the key into the ignition switch:

• Do not allow objects that emit strong radio waves near the ignition switch.

• Make sure the key is not covered by or touching a metal object.

• Do not bring a key from another vehicle’s immobilizer system near the

ignition switch.

Security System Alarm The security system alarm activates when the doors, trunk, or hood are opened without the key, or remote transmitter.

â–  When the security system alarm activates The horn sounds intermittently and all of the exterior lights flash.

â–  To deactivate the security system alarm Unlock the vehicle using the key, or remote transmitter, or turn the ignition switch to ON (w. The system, along with the horn and flashing lights, is deactivated.

NOTICE Leaving the ignition key in the vehicle can result in theft or accidental movement of the vehicle.

Always take the ignition key with you whenever you leave the vehicle unattended.

■ Setting the security system alarm The security system alarm automatically sets when the following conditions have been met: • The ignition switch is in LOCK (0, and the key has been removed from the

ignition switch.

• The hood and trunk are closed. • All doors are locked with the key or the remote transmitter.

â–  When the security system alarm sets The security system indicator in the instrument panel blinks. When the blinking interval changes after about 15 seconds, the security system is set.

â–  To cancel the security system alarm The security system is canceled when the vehicle is unlocked using the key or remote transmitter, or the ignition switch is turned to ON (w. The security system indicator goes off at the same time.

1Security System Alarm

Do not set the security system alarm when someone is in the vehicle or a window is open. The system can accidentally activate when: • Unlocking the door with the lock tab. • Opening the trunk with the trunk release or the

emergency trunk opener.

If the battery goes dead after you have set the security system alarm, the security alarm may go off once the battery is recharged or replaced. If this occurs, deactivate the security system alarm by unlocking a door using the key or remote transmitter.

Do not attempt to alter this system or add another device to it.

Opening and Closing the Windows

Opening/Closing the Power Windows The power windows can be opened and closed when the ignition switch is in ON (w, using the switches on the doors. The driver’s side switches can be used to open and close all of the windows.

The power window lock button on the driver’s side must be switched off (not pushed in, indicator off) to open and close the windows from anywhere other than the driver’s seat.

When the power window lock button is pushed in, the indicator comes on and you can only operate the driver’s window. Turn the power window lock button on when children are in the vehicle.

1Opening/Closing the Power Windows

3WARNING

Closing a power window on someone’s hands or fingers can cause serious injury.

Make sure your passengers are away from the windows before closing them.

The power windows can be operated for up to 10 minutes after you turn the ignition switch off. Opening either front door cancels this function.

Auto Reverse If a power window senses resistance when closing automatically, it will stop closing and reverse direction.

The driver’s window auto reverse function is disabled when you continuously pull up the switch.

The auto reverse function stops sensing when the window is almost closed to ensure that it fully closes.

(e START: This position is for starting the engine. The switch returns to ON (w when you let go of the key.

1Ignition Switch

You cannot take the key out unless the shift lever is in (P.

If you open the driver’s door when the key is in LOCK (0 or ACCESSORY (q, a warning buzzer will sound to remind you to take the key out. When this happens, the following messages appear on the intelligent multi-information display (i-MID): • In LOCK (0: REMOVE KEY • In ACCESSORY (q: RETURN IGNITION SWITCH

TO LOCK (0) POSITION The buzzer will stop when you take the key out.

If the key won’t turn from LOCK (0 to ACCESSORY (q, turn the key while moving the steering wheel left and right. The steering wheel will unlock, allowing the key to turn.

The turn signals can be used when the ignition switch is in ON (w.

â–  One-touch turn signal When you lightly push up or down and release the turn signal lever, the exterior turn signals and turn signal indicator blink three times.

This feature can be used when signaling for a lane change.

Rotating the light switch turns the lights on and off, regardless of the position of the ignition switch. â–  High beams Push the lever forward until you hear a click. â–  Low beams When in high beams, pull the lever back to return to low beams. â–  Flashing the high beams Pull the lever back, and release it.

If you remove the key from the ignition switch while the lights are on, a chime sounds when the driver’s door is opened.

Do not leave the lights on when the engine is off because it will cause the battery to discharge.

If you sense that the level of the headlights is abnormal, have the vehicle inspected by a dealer.

We recommend that you turn on the lights manually when driving at night, in a dense fog, or in dark areas such as long tunnels or parking facilities.

When you turn the light switch to AUTO, the headlights and other exterior lights will switch on and off automatically depending on the ambient brightness.

The light sensor is in the location shown below. Do not cover this light sensor with anything; otherwise, the automatic lighting system may not work properly.

â–  Headlight Integration with Wiper* The headlights automatically come on when the wipers are used several times within a certain intervals with the headlight switch in AUTO.

The headlights automatically go off a few minutes later if the wipers are stopped.

1Headlight Integration with Wiper*

This feature activates during the headlights are off in AUTO.

The instrument panel brightness does not change when the headlights come on.

■ Automatic Lighting Off Feature The headlights, all other exterior lights, and the instrument panel lights turn off within 15 seconds after you remove the key and close the driver’s door.

When the ambient light is at dark, the automatic lighting control feature overrides, and the headlights come on with or without the wipers sweeping more than several times.

If you turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0 with the headlight switch on, but do not open the door, the lights turn off after 10 minutes (three minutes, if the switch is in the AUTO position).

The lights turn on again when you unlock or open the driver’s door. If you unlock the door, but do not open it within 15 seconds, the lights go off. If you open the driver’s door, you will hear a lights on reminder chime.

Wipers and Washers

The windshield wipers and washers can be used when the ignition switch is in ON (w.

â–  MIST The wipers run at high speed until you release the lever.

â–  Wiper switch (OFF, INT, LO, HI) Change the wiper switch setting according to the amount of rain.

â–  Adjusting the delay Turn the adjustment ring to adjust the wiper delay.

â–  Washer Sprays while you pull the lever toward you. When you release the lever, the wipers make two or three more sweeps before stopping.

1Wipers and Washers

NOTICE Do not use the wipers when the windshield is dry. The windshield will get scratched, or the rubber blades will get damaged.

NOTICE In cold weather, the blades may freeze to the windshield, becoming stuck. Operating the wipers in this condition may damage the wipers. Use the defroster to warm the windshield, then turn the wipers on.

If the vehicle speeds up while the wipers are operating intermittently, the length of the wipe interval shortens. When the vehicle starts moving, the wipers make a single sweep. When the vehicle speeds up, the wiper operation’s shortest delay setting ( the same.

Turn the washers off if no washer fluid comes out. The pump may get damaged.

The wiper motor is equipped with a breaker that may stop motor operation temporarily to prevent an overload. Wiper operation will return to normal within a few minutes, once the circuit has returned to normal.

If the wiper stops operating due to any obstacle such as the build-up of snow, park the vehicle in a safe place.

Rotate the wiper switch to OFF, and turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY (q or LOCK (0, then remove the obstacle.

Brightness Control

Control Knob

When the ignition switch is in ON (w, you can use the brightness control knob to adjust instrument panel brightness. Brighten: Turn the knob to the right. Dim: Turn the knob to the left.

You will hear a beeper when the brightness reaches minimum or maximum. The intelligent multi-information display (i-MID) will return to its original state several seconds after you adjust the brightness.

â–  Brightness level indicator The brightness level is shown on the i-MID while you are adjusting it. As the brightness level increases to the right, the instrument panel gets brighter.

1Brightness Control

Instrument panel brightness varies, depending on whether the exterior lights are on or off. The instrument panel dims to reduce glare when they are on.

Press the rear defogger and heated door mirror button to defog the rear window and mirrors when the ignition switch is in ON (w.

The rear defogger and heated door mirrors automatically switch off after 10-30 minutes depending on the outside temperature. However, if the outside temperature is 32°F (0°C) or below, they do not automatically switch off.

NOTICE When cleaning the inside of the rear window, be careful not to damage the heating wires.

It is critical to wipe the window from side to side along the defogger heating wires.

This system consumes a lot of power, so turn it off when the window has been defogged.

Also, do not use the system for a long period when the engine is idling. This may weaken the 12 volt battery, making it difficult to start the engine.

Adjusting the Steering Wheel The steering wheel height and distance from your body can be adjusted so that you can comfortably grip the steering wheel in an appropriate driving posture.
