I bought a car and when I regoed it I was told I have to get the engine sighted in the car so they can change their records. (as car has had an engine swap)
The engine is legal in the car and doesn't need a mod plate.

When they check it over will they just Check the engine or also suss out my wheels suspension which may be a problem

Has anyone had this situation before?

Thanks

Nup - fill in the change form at QLD Transport, one of the desk people will come out, check engine number, give the nod, you leave. Few days later you'll get a new rego sticker.

Enjoy.

generally they will just suss the number of the engine and you will be on your way.

If you have doubts about your wheels and suspension, perhaps make all that stuff LEGAL atleast for initial registration. then change once you have rego.

Yeah the rego and everything is in my name they just said to go in within a few weeks so they can update their system. I'll just give it a shot I guess.

Yeah it'll just be the desk person coming out to check that the number you wrote on te paperwork matches up with the actual engine number.

I took a 79 holden statesman de'ville in to get regestered for the first time since I'd owned it and had the same prolem. The chick behind the desk said that she'd meet me outside to check that the number was right. When she got to the car she asked "is it a holden?" lol

Yeah I love desk jockeys, one came out to inspect my RX2 for VIN and engine #, i told her twice it was a twin rotor and I still got registered as a 6 cylinder? Go figure, but yeah in and out mate, they only want to see numbers.
