ok guys, i had planned to fix some rust on my car (KE55 Corolla) this week. things started out ok, got a few of the minor spots fixed fine, and then moved on to the bigger parts. this is where it went to shit. Friend came round and cut out and attached new piece of metal for the panel. Well, lets just say that it looked neater with the rust there. Then came the fibreglass (were a few areas we just couldnt get a piece of metal to fit in). Well, this just didnt go well at all. Firstly, the fibre cloth was just that little bit too short. Then the fibreglass itself refused to set even with enough hardener. So now i'm stuck with two holes in my car that look worse than the rust did. And, i cant drive it now because its not roadlegal. So, i'm asking if any fellow boosters are able to assist me repair this dilemma. I will pay anyone who can help, i just need to get this fixed soon. I'm on the southside of brisbane too. Thanks, Mike -------------------- 1989 Mazda MX-5 + 12A-T = a whole lot of fun in 950kg's

your best bet for a home job like that is. Since your friend made a replacement part for it try to get it to the exact size, if it is bigger then place the piece on from the inside and weld it on, grind down the welds and fibre/bog over it to smooth it out. I did that with some of my old celicas. took practice but I learnt some welding skillz. |
