Post #1 post 26th April 2012 - 11:13 PM
Hey all, just thort id post up my current project 87 VL exec, as the storey goes 6 months back I swapped my built vq stato for this (clearly my fault for not checking it well but its actually turned out good because I wanted a vlt project ever since my old kermit vlt), had a built rb30et in it when I got it but the build was done by backyarders and was sooooo dodgey it blew up after 2 days of owning it, when I pulled it down I found that the valve guides had been jammed/forced in and there was metal shavings falling into cyl 6 where a piece got caught between the piston and cylinder wall where the metal fillings got so hot it caused pre-ignition, was told it had “hypertec” pistons… I found “hypatecs” and all bearings worn/burnt after only 2000km! All clearnaces were out and I decided not to bother with that engine anymore, picked up a very tidy/low km s2 r33 half cut and got to work on it, its been a slower process as I work full time but its getting there, absolutely everything so far has been done by myself and a mate mitch (80series on here) (only thing that is the same as when I brought it is the front mount and suspension)

sweet build so far. how well can u see the tacho from the front seat?

xclsiv- yeah fire extinguisher could probly find a better home i agree, but my reasoning is atleast there the passenger wont kick it off, it wont block the glove box.. and its readily available if i need to grab it quickly, n nah it wont dose lol,,, flutters tho tongue.gif.

butler88 - suprisingly the tacho is in clear veiw from drivers seat (just cant see anything under 2000rpm).
edit- in that pic the mount on the tacho was loose and it fell down a little... it usualy faces driver with a little more angle

    cheers for the comments guys.
