Shouldn't the duty of care rest with the shop owners, and they be liable? Surely? |

as a shop owner you can not hold a shop responsible for some elses actions, i myself have liability insurance but it is still up to the owner of the car to have insurance, yes in this case the car was taken without permission and should not fall to the falt of the business owner, u cant judge a shop based on one employees actions im quite sure they would have been delt with and made sure nothing like this ever happened again. |

Wat about the poor guys in the car? It must have been pretty horrific, I'm quite surprised they are not dead. Don't forget they are just young fellas we all do stupid shit when we are young. I know from experience. |

If this was my car, after this if they are alive and kicking and not pay to cover the cost of replacing it, they won't be kicking for too long. There was a case in the US where shop worker totalled a car and the shop ended up replacing it with almost new one. |

As much as I agree with most of what you said. I tend to Disagree with " u cant judge a shop based on one employees actions" You can Judge any business on the actions of their employees. If a workshop is good at what they do, but they have some careless fcuks working for them. Do you think you will see though the shitty employees to still think they are good compared to a shop that has employees that respect the business and the clients they do work for ? Lets just say the driver gets off, and won't pay a cent for whatever reason. Do you think its a good business practice for the owner of the workshop to shrug the shoulders and say too bad ? It then comes down to. What image do you want for your workshop ? Either way I hope the passenger fully recovers and they are both held responsible without affecting the reputation of the workshop |
