they would have to flash at night, infra red or not wouldnt they?

Can anyone confirm if these are operational or in testing?

I thought it was illegal to have a fixed camera and no signage for it...

All those HWY racers will be fucked, that the smoothed part of the hwy and i regularly see people blasting through there

EDIT: Misread, Yes your right, they do need to put it out, but it doesnt necessarily need to be completely visible. only states that the requirement is that it needs to be placed, thats it.

They do, but infer-red is out of the light spectrum that your eyes can see, so they flash and your eyes dont see in infer-red and it just looks normal, but on the photo its clear enough to read number plates

I am gonna go out on a plank and say they arent operational..... I will ask a mate who works for State Traffic Task Force.

But also they would have had something on the news/in the paper to say they are operational.

Not operational yet.

Just wondering how these would work? Say I was to sit on exactly 9km/h over the limit would I be receiving a letter in the mail?

Oh well...

If we don't speed we wont get a ticket...won't be long I'm sure before I get one but that's the risk I take.

As for no lines on the road, I wouldn't pay attention to the lines anyway..I have no idea why QLD had to have lines on the road for their speed cameras since NSW doesn't....old technology maybe

VZ_commo
Post #47

I think I might invest in a Radar detector. :P Or just not speed. One of the two.

The lines on the road for these types of camera are for measuring the speed. These camera actually take 2 Photos and the distance the car has travelled between the lines is the way to determine the speed.

On the subject there was an article on 9 news last night that basically said the Point to Point set up on the Bruce wont be operational for some time as the system does not work. They cant get it to work either with the volume of traffic on the road. Thats some Win for the motorists I think.
