my mate had one with 33s he had nissan rims and it only touched now and again but he worked for mitsubishi at the time and got us both some spacers for the cross members and lower control arms from rally art in japan as they built some race tritons for paris to dakar etc, i had the factory wide wheels from a gq patrol on mine with 31s wound up torsion bars and i never had trouble , my intercooler was just a factory pajero one from a 89 i think with a small davis craig thermo fan fitted and wired to a switch, you may all think its a dumb idea but when playing at slow speeds it did make a difference due to increasing the airflow.

its a shame i cant find the pics of the first petrol one i had going over the jumps at the off road course while looking for a broken down buggy !

they make a good 4x4 i wish i hadnt sold either of them mitsubishi seem to make a rather capable 4x4 i have a pajero v6 now and even with standard suspension it does quite well and has reasonable flex
