200kw per tonne rule? What are you on about? Assuming you're in Qld, the 200kw rule is an absolute rule, has nothing to do with vehicle weight. EDIT: The lotus elise series 2 190 sport only makes 166kw per tonne at the flywheel anyway. And you certainly seem like you should be in school. This topic has been covered more times that you've had sex. That and the fact the "best" anything is always going to be personal opinion. I'd have liked a 2 door Lj torana, worked 202, 200+ at the rears. Low 14's high 13's set up right. Pity they're going up in price way too much. This is the VR6 in a R32. This is the VR6 in 'my' R32 is what you should have said |

i heard somthign about vic roads bringing in a 200kw per tonne rule to stop people rocking out in 800kg cars with 150+kw, but i must have bin mistaken, as for best being a personal choice, i was refering to it in technical specifications, not personal opinion, the reason being the freelander is slow, cheaply upholstered and just generally a tacky car (1999 model) |

i heard somthign about vic roads bringing in a 200kw per tonne rule to stop people rocking out in 800kg cars with 150+kw, That would be a stupid law threshold anyway. You do realise that the only cars that have that power to weight ratio are either very expensive, or supercars in their own right. I don't think you realise the magnitude of 200kw/tonne. The ferrari 360 has a kerb weight of 1450kgs and makes 300kw at the flywheel from factory. That's 206.8kw/tonne. A 2009 Nissan GT-R has a kerb weight of 1748kg and makes 368kw at the flywheel. That's 210kw/tonne. Do you see where I am going with this? The only cars a P plater couldn't drive under that law are ones 99% of people won't ever be able to afford anyway, let alone p-platers. Even if this was to cover modded p-plater cars, there is no way of testing this. They're not going to give you time on a road side dyno to prove it. Edit: Yes the technical specs matter, but once again it's personal opinion. It depends what you personally want out of a car. How you want it to handle, shift, brake. It's not as simple as going "this car makes power and weighs fuck all, so it must be the BEST p-plate car" |

There is no need for a 200Kw/tonne rule As far as i was aware, its 125kw per tonne down south? On motorbikes, yes. |

I think he mean't to say 100kw/tonne That would rule out the EK VTiR Civic... they wont implement that rule ever. Too much variance for it to be inforced. Hell, it would rule out most V6 Commodores and Falcoons |

Victoria has the same rules as queensland regarding p platers and restrictions minus the 13b rotary one i believe. There's a list of 6 cylinder cars that are banend which are like porsches, nsx, 350/370z but thats about it they ditched the power to weight restriction in favour of a blanket rule about 3 years ago, but even then the power to weight rule had a fair bit of room. |

I think the power to weight ratio has merit..to a point. The lawmakers in QLD are slowly bending their heads around allowing more turbocharged cars on the list for p-platers. I (along with most people who own a brain) think this is a smart idea. Given the prices of fuel, car developers are going for a turbocharged engine to increase fuel econemy whilst retaining the power of a larger capacity engine. They are obviously not designed as high-performance cars. They incorporate all the modern technology and safety features and are more cost effective. An example of said car would have to be a Volkswagen Gofl GTI V. Yes it's 2L turbocharged engine makes 147kw and is therefore illegal under the current law. But it's bigger brother the Golf R32 makes 184kw with it's larger, naturally aspirated engine and yet is P-plate legal. However, if this law change were to happen, it would only allow for a strict and non-performance based number of cars. So no, your skyline/supra/wrx doesn't count. |
