This sounds so gay at first glance, but would be heaps of fun to race against others in the same slow vehicles where driver skill, lines, and balls are more important than fat wallets.

If you had enough entrants then 2 classes being carby and injected could bring the costs down even further with some opting for the carby, or X2 vs X3, something like that, otherwise everyone is just going to buy up the newer MPI models.

It's not any gayer than an MX5 series anyway :run:

Remember where topgear did the rally thing with may, and there was the option to buy anyones car at the end of a season for $2000? and they had to sell it.. soemthing like that would make ppl not spend too much on it.

This has been used many times in the passed, works well.

I can host any series you want, we just need enough people interested to make it viable.

Living on a main rd where somebody already hit a power pole in front of my house I dont think it would last long before being plowed into by a soccer mum.

well in that case no great loss, I mean its only a excel :mamoru: You could prolly sell it for parts to other races and MAKE money....

There us a 7kw difference between the GX/LX/GLX and the Sprint twin cam ones, if only they were a little cheaper... maybe a carby one running twin 38 webbers? hmmm What other cars were mass produced in the early 90's that are now DIRT cheap... charades? I think the excels are still cheaper. container of micro cars from japan?

Yes very bad visions, there should be no cushioning for those soccer mums, theyre really big cars are big and strong so theyre children will never get hurt.

Roll cage is only required if you do circuit racing, the above dates are for sprints.
price is $190.00 per round at lakeside and $120 at Qld Raceway, same cost as normal sprints.

We can do Circuit Racing if you want
$200 at lakeside and $160 at QR - car must have a min 4 point cage and harness.

Cheers Jeff

I'm all for this but the $190 a race hurts a bit

clutch-monkey
Post #76

$190 for actual timed racing for a whole (or even half) day sounds alright

especially given the alternative

Tontseks
Post #77

TBH the $190 is a bit much for what we will be doing. I have an X2 I am very keen to race. How about we host it at QR instead? It'll drop the cost a fair amount.

We already currently have a class in our main series that covers cars like that.
the idea of the excel series was to keep it all the same.
that being said there are probably quite a few cars with similar power/weight as the excel that could be run with them if there weren't too many objections.

Hi Jeff,

I kind of agree with a few of the others about the 190/200 to circuit race at lakeside. if we can get a min number for curcits is there a way this could come down to say 150 and maybe 100 for QR? I'm sure at a better price point you'd get more people coming to race.

The sprints side of it doesnt appeal to me, but the cheap aspect of proper racing sounds awesome if you can keep the cost down (cheap car, cheap race)
also hows the cheap cages going? any idea on price?
