is there any common problems or things that should be addressed on these things before taking them out? The cv's are probably the most common issue, you will hear them clacking when taking a tight corner at low speed. the water pumps are often stuffed on the high k ones as well. other than that they seem to be a pretty tough engine mine has 292'000 k's on it and made 65hp on the dyno at RDP |

so whats everyone running for rubber then!? I've found some 15's that fit, with a 35 offset. is it the rubber width thats the issue? slightly rolled guards? Good job on finding 15's with the right offset, centre-hub diameter and stud pattern. I did a bit of looking around at different wheel / tyre options but it all got a bit hard (and expensive). Think i might just go the easy option and run 175...not alot about but Pirelli and Yokohama do have something half decent. |

I wouldnt stress about tyres for the first few runs, as long as what you have is in good condition. |

the only reason ive bought an excel was because of this thread all of us mate, all of us wait until you get a cage then the fun will really begin with the circuit racing ! will we need to sign up to the mg car club for hillclimbing?? NO. 99.9% of our events will be AASA The few that we do that are CAMS (like Mt Cotton) you will need a CAMS Level2s license. to get your L2S you can join any CAMS car club, doesnt have to be MGCCQ I will try to make day licenses available for CAMS events if I can. |
