iirc there is an excel rally series, no reason why this wouldn't work.. at least you wouldn't give a fuck about the car.

love this idea!
twin cam manual+whiteline suspension package and toyo r888's.

If I didn't already have a car set up to race at lakeside I would have loved to join this series

I guess its just going to be a bit of fun and not serious as don't the excels have different engines
single and twin cam ?

Are there series rules and regulations somewhere ?
Curious to see the rules regarding lightweight :run: I reckon you could get an excel down to around 800kgs

Serious Fun is the intention :run:

The rules are starting to come together here.

So looking at the rules, you can turbo charge the stock motor?

says it needs to be a stock excel engine although exhaust and intake can be done

TwinCam16
Post #33

The engine would be stock.

And the intake and exhaust being free, well where does the turbo sit :run:

hehe good point someone take advantage of the loophole and win the whole series although the money used likely won't be worth it as you would only ever get negative reps from winning an excel racing series.

I really do like this idea Jeff. I'm sure my partner will be keen once we get some funds together.

Serious fun, and will certainly improve peoples driving ability. It will come down to the best driver of the season!!

So cheap too! So if you want to be a mad ass driver, sign up!

This actually sound like a lot of fun. I'm in the market for a cheap daily at the moment & an excel might just do.

What an awesome idea, definitely bargain basement racing!

Do the rules allow for a bunch of guys to put in together for the costs and take turns racing at the meets?

Remember where topgear did the rally thing with may, and there was the option to buy anyones car at the end of a season for $2000? and they had to sell it.. soemthing like that would make ppl not spend too much on it.

Still I love the idea, I'm just a little pissed my flatmate sold a 2dr excel 5 months back with 100k on it :run: But I'm still signing up for this!

Jeff, will see you at the cotton climb in a few weeks

We will start the first circuit round of the Excel Sprint Series on the 14th of March at Lakeside.
As the cars are going to be pretty much stock not a lot of prep time will be required.

If there is enough interest we could kick off with some hill climb at Mt Cotton on the 21st of Feb ?

Cheers.
