Thought the topic would get your attention Just thought we would introduce ourselves, as we will be moving to darwin in early July from Perth. The bf used to live up there about 10yrs ago, and i have been up a few times on holidays (still yet to see it rain up there though...) We are moving up early july, and the plan was to sell all the cars and maybe buy something interesting from qld once we settle in.... but we ended up blowing the budget and buying a car here that we thought should be good enough to send up there The bf is into drifting and loves the MC days, and i spose i will have to learn how to drive the new car so i dont get myself into too much trouble, so i might even get out here and get into it too (no laughing though!) We didnt see much of a car scene when we came up a few weeks ago, but im sure you were all just hiding. but then i dont think it is quite like perth where you can get up to 500+ cars rocking up at a cruise Wouldnt mind a few tips and any info on what its like up there coz im sure it is completely different to down here. the cops are pretty bad here, and hand out yellow stickers like candy, and it is nothing to lose your car under hoon laws for chirping into second We are hoping to keep the car we are bringing up rego'd in WA to avoid any undue hassles as we have no idea how hard it is to get permits etc So yeah anyway - hopefully we will see you all soon -------------------- skyline in a silvias clothing

Congrat's on moving to the best part of the country. Darwin is great the cops are not to bad if you don't fool around to much that is, nothing like southern states anyway. Car laws are pretty relaxed here if you abide by the laws then you wont have any problems but outright modifications that need TAC approval will be stickered and we have the same fancy yellow ones like down south ! Good luck on the move ! WHat he said. |

omg yes the umm natives are something i will have to get used to... mainly because down here if you see more than 3 in a group then chances are you will be jumped not too sure how the police will go trying to sticker a WA reg car. we should have all the permits for it from WA with us, so hopefully we can bluff them out of a sticker. i know the cops have a hard time trying to sticker qld registered cars here in WA. out of curiousity, how much would a s13 silvia go for up there that was running a RB20det, with a few mods (FMIC, BOV, TD06, EMS ECU, coilies, zorst, gate, rims etc). Car is un-tuned atm as the last motor died and we put a fresh one in but havent 100% finished it yet. Last dyno with the old motor was 342hp atw, and i sent it in to be retuned but the guy fckd with it and it came out running on 5 (was also blowing a bit of smoke so thought it was a good enough time to swap the motors...) and i havent had it retuned because we havent completed it yet. Car body is a bit rough, but i can bring up spare guards, and a bonnet if i have to. The car ran out of rego down here, and we are a bit different here and only get them inspected if you get a yellow, so it hasnt been inspected for maybe 4yrs (when the RB went in...). so to get it lic you would need to take off the wastegate etc and make it a little more stock, and we just dont have the time and cbf'd Dunno if we will sell it down here before we come up, and if we dont, then we might bring it up with us. but if we can pick up something similar up there reasonably cheap then it isnt worth paying the transport for this one but if it can fetch a good price up there, then we might just bring it up anyway and sell it there would make an awesome drift car, and is street drivable - just dont put your foot down more than halfway when on boost or the ass end over takes the front kirst That is a shit load of power out af a rb20. What mods exactly were you running. There was another one getting around a while ago went for around the 13 mark i think. But if its all in good condition and clean with good reliable power and mod plated you should see around the 12-15mark depending. It's a silvia, like asshole's, nearly everyone's got one Not with rb's they dont |

I'm not too sure if there's anything like that up here, and if there is, there ain't many at all. Would be something different though. If you wanna get drifting with the Silvia, you should join TEDA - Top End Drift Association Even if you're not 100% ready for it, the guys can help you out. you'd be surprised how many there are. there maybe another popping up soon |

^^^^ just ignore this guy. he's broken two cars (toyotas at that), spent thousands of $$ fixing them and hasnt even got his P's yet. i'd say you could get the $6.5k for it... but i'll let the nissan fanboys shed some more light on that... Wasn't me. Seriously, it wasn't. If it was me, I'd have done it properly. |

good to hear Chris. Kirst, hope all goes well with the move, we'll see you guys up here then as for cruising, we have NEVER had 300+ cruising cars in one area, let alone 500+ fridays and saturdays are pretty laid back in regards to the car scene, there are 3 or 4 common spots, and people tend to just move around between them. you will find out very quickly that everyone knows everyone, and the car scene shows that too. basically, we're always happy to have more people joining in on cruises and the car scene, and i'm sure the TEDA drifters will be keen on having some new people too. \ \Speaking for yourself there timmy. We have had in excess of that and i have a youtube vid to prove it. Was a massive night last year Massive skid fest yo.. Kirst for that silvia you will have no problems selling it up here for 6-10k once cleaned up a bit. No worries at all. As for drifting unfortunately i am giving it up as i need to sell my car but there is a good and very fast growing scene here for it. |

If you plan to get your car legal up here, you will need to submit a applaictation to the TAC, which is part of MVR (same as your RTA), the seats and engine will need to be signed off by someone. Really is a piss easy to do up here.....the police are preety good, just dont compare them with WA people. Have a read of the TAC question thread that is under the NT thread....and o yeah, I am on the the TAC people, so if you have questions just pm me with your email address (I cant reply to PM's as there is a qlitch with this site)....and welcome to the NT...Cheers Kev |
