Thought the topic would get your attention wink.gif

Just thought we would introduce ourselves, as we will be moving to darwin in early July from Perth.

The bf used to live up there about 10yrs ago, and i have been up a few times on holidays (still yet to see it rain up there though...)
We are moving up early july, and the plan was to sell all the cars and maybe buy something interesting from qld once we settle in.... but we ended up blowing the budget and buying a car here that we thought should be good enough to send up there

The bf is into drifting and loves the MC days, and i spose i will have to learn how to drive the new car so i dont get myself into too much trouble, so i might even get out here and get into it too (no laughing though!)

We didnt see much of a car scene when we came up a few weeks ago, but im sure you were all just hiding. but then i dont think it is quite like perth where you can get up to 500+ cars rocking up at a cruise

Wouldnt mind a few tips and any info on what its like up there coz im sure it is completely different to down here.
the cops are pretty bad here, and hand out yellow stickers like candy, and it is nothing to lose your car under hoon laws for chirping into second

We are hoping to keep the car we are bringing up rego'd in WA to avoid any undue hassles as we have no idea how hard it is to get permits etc

So yeah anyway - hopefully we will see you all soon thumbsup.gif

Congrat's on moving to the best part of the country.
Remember to bring the following items.
1 x Can of Croc repellent
1 x Can of Mozzie repellent
10 x Track suit pants with elastic waist (beer belly growth)
1 x Can of Native repellent

and lots of money for a house.

Darwin is great the cops are not to bad if you don't fool around to much that is, nothing like southern states anyway.
Car laws are pretty relaxed here if you abide by the laws then you wont have any problems but outright modifications that need TAC approval will be stickered and we have the same fancy yellow ones like down south !

Have a look through the drift thread here most of them are friendly with the occasional whinger thrown in for good measure.

Good luck on the move !

Welcome to the greatest economy on PLANET EARTH!!! YEAH!!!! Woooooo!!!!

Dont forget the croc repellent. Dont forget teh mozzie repellent. And if you cant find native repellent, just ask them for a ciggarette before they do, works everytime. Leaves em stunned long enough to make an odourless getaway.

Name please.

or roll a 20cent coin in the other direction and watch them run for it as you run for the car mamoru.gif

omg yes the umm natives are something i will have to get used to...
mainly because down here if you see more than 3 in a group then chances are you will be jumped

not too sure how the police will go trying to sticker a WA reg car. we should have all the permits for it from WA with us, so hopefully we can bluff them out of a sticker. i know the cops have a hard time trying to sticker qld registered cars here in WA.

out of curiousity, how much would a s13 silvia go for up there that was running a RB20det, with a few mods (FMIC, BOV, TD06, EMS ECU, coilies, zorst, gate, rims etc).
Car is un-tuned atm as the last motor died and we put a fresh one in but havent 100% finished it yet. Last dyno with the old motor was 342hp atw, and i sent it in to be retuned but the guy fckd with it and it came out running on 5 (was also blowing a bit of smoke so thought it was a good enough time to swap the motors...) and i havent had it retuned because we havent completed it yet.
Car body is a bit rough, but i can bring up spare guards, and a bonnet if i have to.

The car ran out of rego down here, and we are a bit different here and only get them inspected if you get a yellow, so it hasnt been inspected for maybe 4yrs (when the RB went in...). so to get it lic you would need to take off the wastegate etc and make it a little more stock, and we just dont have the time and cbf'd

Dunno if we will sell it down here before we come up, and if we dont, then we might bring it up with us.
but if we can pick up something similar up there reasonably cheap then it isnt worth paying the transport for this one

but if it can fetch a good price up there, then we might just bring it up anyway and sell it there
would make an awesome drift car, and is street drivable - just dont put your foot down more than halfway when on boost or the ass end over takes the front biggrin.gif

That is a shit load of power out af a rb20. What mods exactly were you running. There was another one getting around a while ago went for around the 13 mark i think. But if its all in good condition and clean with good reliable power and mod plated you should see around the 12-15mark depending.

RB Silvia? I'm not too sure if there's anything like that up here, and if there is, there ain't many at all. Would be something different though.

If you wanna get drifting with the Silvia, you should join TEDA - Top End Drift Association smile.gif Even if you're not 100% ready for it, the guys can help you out.

good to hear Chris.

Kirst, hope all goes well with the move, we'll see you guys up here then thumbsup.gif

as for cruising, we have NEVER had 300+ cruising cars in one area, let alone 500+

fridays and saturdays are pretty laid back in regards to the car scene, there are 3 or 4 common spots, and people tend to just move around between them.
you will find out very quickly that everyone knows everyone, and the car scene shows that too.

basically, we're always happy to have more people joining in on cruises and the car scene, and i'm sure the TEDA drifters will be keen on having some new people too.

zxz
Post #16

cheers guys

yeah that is right at 342hp
got some crazy mods but i cant remember them all - huge turbo though and when it comes on boost you better be holding on

as i said the motor was tired after 4yrs of running that much hp, and when i bought it i tried to squeeze it to an even 350, but the motor started blowing white smoke (one of the ringlands went)
We got another motor and have almost finished putting it in (like honestly there is probably 10 mins work to get it running, but we are lazy tongue.gif )

i was hoping to get $5k for it down here as it is unlic, and everyone has sils with rb20's in them here so it is nothing special
would like to get $6.5k for it up there if we do bring it up as that would cover the $1.5k transport cost

you would need to do a fair bit to it to get it able to be relicensed, coz as i mentioned it has a wastegate etc which would need to be removed or plumbed back in...

i will get pics tonight when i get home, but it is just a black sil. has a dent in one guard, and a matte black bonnet, the interior has been fully retrimmed in tan fake leather, but other than that is looks stock

good to hear RB sils are a bit rarer up there though...
the other car we are bringing up is a silvia too, but with a 25. getting it tuned next week so should be good for an easy 400hp, but will have it set up so we can flick it over to 300hp for the street

looking forward to getting up there though!

^^^^ just ignore this guy. he's broken two cars (toyotas at that), spent thousands of $$ fixing them and hasnt even got his P's yet.

i'd say you could get the $6.5k for it... but i'll let the nissan fanboys shed some more light on that...

Got any more interior pics, can't really see much, but the interior looks like it's in REALLY good condition.

zxz
Post #27

nah cbf going outside to get any.

the interior is in good nik, as i said, redone in tan coloured fake leather stuff, including pasenger seat, rear seats, and door and glovebox trims.

the bucket seat will most likely be coming out to go into the other sil, unless we pick up a bride seat in the meantime.

it isnt as shabby as it looks. it does have shiney paint, and tinted windows, and besides a small dent on one guard, it is neat and straight.

i would be grabbing the rims off it too, but the other sil has had a 5 stud conversion - spewin

\Speaking for yourself there timmy. We have had in excess of that and i have a youtube vid to prove it. Was a massive night last year Massive skid fest yo..

Kirst for that silvia you will have no problems selling it up here for 6-10k once cleaned up a bit. No worries at all. As for drifting unfortunately i am giving it up as i need to sell my car but there is a good and very fast growing scene here for it.

cheers, at least we know we have that option if it doesnt sell down here in time. it does have quite a few mods but i cant remember al of them, but even parting it out we would still make a fair deal out of it i spose

so how hard is it to get a car rego'd up there?
is there any umm more 'lenient' places to go to compared to others?

and what are some good performance workshops with dynos, preferably ones that can tune an Autronic and an Ems Stinger if nec

If you plan to get your car legal up here, you will need to submit a applaictation to the TAC, which is part of MVR (same as your RTA), the seats and engine will need to be signed off by someone. Really is a piss easy to do up here.....the police are preety good, just dont compare them with WA people. Have a read of the TAC question thread that is under the NT thread....and o yeah, I am on the the TAC people, so if you have questions just pm me with your email address (I cant reply to PM's as there is a qlitch with this site)....and welcome to the NT...Cheers Kev

ahh ok
this car has been rego'd in WA as a Rb20 and i think i have a copy of the permits for it to run the engine - would that help?

yeap which means it's already certified, it should be a piss in the park getting it over the pits

Yep its basically mod plated by the sounds of it. Ask Kev if you still need a TAC form even though its been regoed before. I used to have a rb20silvia as well and they are great.

I wanna take the rb25 out of my r32 and put it in a s13 but it wont happen.
