Summer is around the corner so it's time for a nice big cruise. This is for all Subarus, not just WRX's and STi's, so bring along your Fozzies, Liberty's, Legacy's and even your Sherpa if it will keep up. In fact, if it's a boxer, it's welcome. Porsche drivers anyone? All Subies are welcome whether your car is a modified weapon or stock standard and it will be family friendly if you want to bring the kids along. I'll acknowledge first up that I have used some of the directions and part of the route from the last Rexnet Wildlife Warriors Cruise. I'm not sure who put that .pdf together, otherwise I would mention your name and say thanks. It seems WW is not going ahead this year, this cruise will still travel through the hinterland to the Sunshine coast but the start and finish points are different. Here it is: Meet up at Coles Newmarket carpark 95-99 Enoggera Rd Newmarket Meetup at 08:00am Depart at 08:30am ![]() ![]() From Newmarket we'll head along Enoggera Rd and Samford rd for 17km, head through Samford Village and continue along for a further 23km to Dayboro. By this time the roads should be nice and scenic. ![]() When we reach Dayboro, we'll head down the main street and turn left into Mt Mee Rd. We’ll travel past Mt Pleasant, through Mt Mee and towards D’Aguliar. Once down the range towards D’Aguliar we'll come up to a T intersection. At the intersection turn left onto D’Aguliar Hwy going towards then through Woodford. Shortly after leaving Woodford look out for the sign to Beerwah. Turn right here and travel towards Peachester and Beerwah. There are tight sections of road along this route. ![]() After travelling through the township of Peachester we'll arrive in Beerwah. We’ll head through Beerwah and keep going towards Landsborough, then go through Landsborough and up the range towards Maleny. ![]() From Maleny we will go to Montville, this is only a ten minute drive. This is where I've decided we stop for Lunch. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants as well as shops to occupy your girlfriends while we talk about turbos. If the group would rather have lunch in Maleny that's cool too. I've decided it's better to simply buy lunch instead of having a BBQ which requires preparation and cleaning up. ![]() From there it depends on how we do for time. The plan is to head back to Brisbane along the Bruce Highway but if time permits we may head from Montville to Maroochydore and Mooloolaba and drive along the coastline for a stretch before heading back via the Sunshine Motorway and Bruce Highway. ![]() If it suits the last stop can be at the BP Caboolture Southbound where we can all refill our petrol tanks. Gold Coast people can then head back to the Goldy via the Gateway Motorway. This should take up most of the day and be a great drive for everyone. Most important of all is to make sure that you have a full tank of fuel before coming to the first meet. What would also be good is for all of the cars of each model and generation to drive together for visual impact. As previously said, I'd like this to be family friendly. Since the majority of us will have AWD burnouts shouldn't be a problem and I'm sure I don't need to write out a list of silly rules. If someone obviously want to go at a faster pace than you, you have the option of letting them pass. We all like to have as much fun as possible but stupidly illegal driving and behaviour that draws negative attention will be frowned upon. Last but not least, I ask that each car donates $10 towards a kitty, 100% of which will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Fund. Hope to see everyone there... QUOTE(51KWRX @ Nov 28 2008, 11:52 AM) hopefully mate the taxi paying for it He's denying he was at fault. I gave him all of my details including lic no, phone no and address and he proceeded to write it down on a peice of paper he had resting on my boot. His pen wasn't working so he starts digging it in to the paper and I said "Can you not dig that pen into my paintwork, I think you've done enough damage to my car." He said "If you're going to be aggressive I'm leaving" then got into the car and drove off. I rang Yellow Cabs and they wouldn't release any of his information so I'm now off to the cop station now to try and get some details. He had passengers in the car the whole time too. I hope he hasn't given them a free trip home in return for some dodgy witness statement to say I was at fault. The damage to my car is all on the front left gaurd and bar which supports my claims that I was already in that lane and he wasn't. I'm with Just Car, rang them today and they said that by the sound of it it wss all his fault but until I can get his details I still have to pay my excess. Thank god it's gone down from $1300 last year to $400 this year! |

QUOTE(HUN51 @ Nov 28 2008, 01:38 PM) thats right, why people are starting to post their own cruises for charity is beyond be, i can safley say i have just gotton off the phone to qld police head traffic and we are all in the clear for our cruise. lol good luck with it anyway. HUN51 the reason why I am trying to raise charity funds from this cruise is simple. My mother had breast cancer and my girlfriend's sister died of breast cancer too. I will do anything I can to help eradicate this bastard of a disease. Trying to optimistically raise a hundred bucks or two from this cruise is just one of the things I can and therefore will do. I'm not trying to rain on your cruise at all. Obviously they are completely different cruises anyway with mine being for Subaru's only and featuring hinterland driving whilst your is an all-makes cruise from the city to suburbia ending with a Show and Shine. A few weeks ago the Size Does Matter cruise was on the same day as an awd-turbo.net cruise and and O'Reilly's BBQ cruise, at this time of the year it is inevitable events might occur on the same day. I'd be happy for anyone attending my cruise to break off and join yours at any time and depending on how we go for time we could well all end up there. I'm not having a go at you at all HUN51, just responding to your query as to why I wanted to raise charity money. Cancer has had a big impact on me and my loved ones and I will do anything I can do to help fight it. |

There was a heap of back and forth regarding a date in the old thread that had the preliminary planning and it took forever to settle on one. I didn't just decide to have a cruise on a conflicting date without input from all the other Subaru guys. |
