Hay hunzi i know i wasnt there and i know i am not good at organisine this sort of thing but maybe next year work with Ian and try and use parklands you know the food trucks are there tiolets are there and you know it wouldnt be hard to organise other enternainment like a dyno comp or a small launch comp not only with the evnt have extra which entry for events can go to donation but there wont be alot of sitting around doing nothing and the place has everything you need.

End of the day thats basically a raceline event?

The amount of cars we had also : parklands i don't think would have been big enough?

Hardtuned.net is looking to be a Major sponsor of raceline events for 2009, so our involvement will defiantly be there to make sure those events go well!

Oh, and to the hero who thought it would be smart to pop ringys on the grass:

a) Nice numberplates, your car will be impounded, end of story.

b) You may be up for re-turfing which starts at around $4,000.

Hopefully all of the idiots who decided to have a go on the grass cop it, not just one. Ive seen enough of the number plates from the offending cars in photo threads already. Our starlets were on the edge of the group so we had front row seats to every idiot wanting to be a hero.....i mean seriously.....whats the point when the few idiots ruin it for everyone and then the organisations wont allow us to use their venues again.....

Regardless of what anyone thinks, i had fun just taking my truck for a spin... its not about organisation and whatever else, its up to yourself to have a fun time at any event.. yeah it was busy and took awhile to get into the place but imagine if 20 or so cars turned up?? you would all be whinging about how dead it was..
Be thankful we have such a huge modified car scene in QLD and are able to enjoy days like this.
Just my 2 cents..
Once again, thanks to all the organisers and everyone for coming, weather you enjoyed it or not. I had a great time and i won! biggrin.gif

i know my gf was trying to block a subaru from getting out when we were leaving so that people had a chance to get his number plates, he really wasnt happy and ended up speeding past her and nearly wiping out ian in his hyundai to get away cause he knew he was in trouble.

there was also a red r32 who we were hoping was going to wipe out his mates silver civic when he decided to do a little bit of circle work. another group that left from up the back had a blue vn commo with nsw plates and a shitty old blue subaru brumby wagon who did circle work out past our cars. im not gonna post plates here but im sure it can be worked out from photo threads....pm me loz if you need any help thumbsup.gif

bowrofl.gif fuck yeah

edit: i stand by what i said earlier - don't worry about organising the meets earlier, let people do that themselves. concentrate on the event and venue itself. people will know where it is, it might be fun but not necessary imo.

I agree with this an extent, I think they are an good idea but could have been handled better. If the police had been organized to block off smith street for 10 minutes you could have got everyone out of parklands in one go and it could have been an actual cruise up the highway instead of the dashing around i saw (and i must admit took part in trying to get away from some 4wds) organize a police escort as well all thats needed is 2 or 3 patrol cars/bikes but apart from the other things said about drinks and that i was happy to be a part of the day.

well, i just drove their on my own and had none of the problems everyone else is talking about. just drove straight into cleveland, saw some convoy driving in circles, drove straight into the cleveland show grounds from the opposite direction to everyone else and didn't have to wait at all to get in. didn't have to wait for people etc etc, much easier

I think loz's post (#522, I won't waste space quoting it all) has hit the nail on the head and I agree.

First up, a huge thumbs up to the guy and his mates who donated much more than the regulation
$10, it's people like you who have captured the spirit of what the event is about. It's not just about cars, it's about using our love of cars to better someone else's lives.

I didn't attend this one as I'd organised the Subaru cruise up to the Sunny coast hinterland but from what I've observed here I have nothing but praise for the organisers. Yesterday's Subaru run was the first long cruise I'd organised and I picked up things to do with planning that I'll know for next time.

All of the criticisms levelled at the lack of shade and drinks at Cleveland as well as the disorganisation at the gates are both releveant and reasonable but you can be damn sure that Hunzi will be listening and taking it all on board next year (as I certainly would, and by all appearances he's dedicated). I'm guessing it was these guys' first time organising such a large cruise (500+) and of course you'll have teething problems. Maybe it wasn't originally planned as being so big and grew into its own monster once the venue had already been booked. At this time of the year shit is crazy 24/7 without having to organise an event this big so props to those who did get off their asses and do something for charity.

As has been said, delegation of tasks next year and more involvement from more people will make this event into an annual winner.

I'm proud that the modified car community could raise so much for charity, every one of you who donated anything is a champ in my books.

Once again thanks to everyone that helped out.

seems you need people to do more hands on than pose or spectate..... i mean after all, isn't that why God created the Spit?

Maybe contacting the lions club or some other organisation as mentioned before isn't a bad idea, have them on the gate and so on and so forth. Even invite the local QPS to the show, that way it should keep the "grass skidding tool" factor down and the invite may lend itself kindly to Police-Modded Car Community relations

But all in all, was 1st effort so top stuff for havin a crack.

More than happy to lend a hand if there is another event.

Sorry Jay the cruise couldnt cater to your liking.
little bit difficult when you organising an event where more than half the cars are better than autosalon, more cars than you can poke a stick at.
Maybe next time (which is quite frequent of your attitude)
GET OFF YOUR LAZY WITH TRASH ASS AND PUT IN SOME HELP ALSO!!!

To everyone else I hope you all had a great day out.
