I hope to be out there again in 2008. I'd love to be home in Brisbane to compete more often. Got some more power now that i would like to use where i desire. Should definately break my old record and i will continue to compete in the 2.0L n/a class.

Depends on how big the groups are but it's a staggered start so you generally have some time between each other

Probably around 10 cars, I'm usually too busy checking who's coming next to count the field laugh.gif

The groups are formed based on times previously done.

For your first time out, you get put into a novice/slowest class.

Cameron is still yet to get out of this group ...

or is that the garage tongue.gif

ON TOPIC

I think with the numbers your Skyline is putting out you shouldn't be in the novice group for too long flyline. smile.gif

I suggest we try to get all the bigger hp novices in one group tongue.gif

I for one will be learning how my car behaves and getting a feeling for the corners while blasting out a few cobwebs on the straights tongue.gif

its pretty rare not to overtake or be overtaken, even cars that do similiar times have different characteristics that affect where they are fast on the circuit.

ok ok is there an unwritten rule in this department.... like does the slow guy kind of move over for the fast guy or does the fast guy have to work for it.... school me!

and the entry form on the web site is under construction??? is that the same for every1 else????

We'll we've just tuned the little beast up with what it has so far and it's definitely more linear in it's power delivery with a nice fat chunk of mid range now happy.gif

Fireball has his ported head and JUN sticks back from machining so that will probably go in soon.

Looking forward to getting closer to the 60 second zone hsdance.gif

I might be struggling to make it out there... If I do make it out there it probably won't be with semi's on. I don't think I will have enough camber in time (need coilovers) and thus if im out it will just be on street tyres which shall be fun though tongue.gif

Fast guy has to work for it... most slower drivers will lift off the throttle for a sec to let you pass but really they dont have to. You pass on the right and only on the straights.

Less unwritten and more voiced - If someone faster comes up behind you, you should move left and let them pass you. There isn't supposed to be any overtaking anywhere but the two straights, but when you're in a competitive bunch it does happen. I maintain my line through corners and move out of the way if someone wants to pass me. Obviously it's their responsibility to do it safely and will be their fault if something goes wrong.

Entry form works fine for me for the standard Sprint series (starting in January), however the Top Gear Sprint series (starting in February) still is under construction

I have found that most cars that are slow through the corners wont move over to let you through even though your going to sit right on their arse through the next 20 turns they dont give a shit.

this is what i find too, and i cant pass em on the straight, so i have to wait till i can just push past on the inside of turn 2 or into the 2nd S

I didn't find that problem in the beginners group. I even had a BA GT Falcon let me go by on the straight even though his car would have been considerably quicker.

Will be interesting to see when I get into some of the other groups.

be prepared for ppl to go around corners as slow as they like in front of you, then disappear on the straight (although your car probably wont be as slow as mine in a straight line)

I'm only expecting a car capable of a mid 15 down the quarter so it won't be all that quick in a straight line.

That shall be frustrating if that happens... Damn it being a paper clip can't give them a nudge down the back of the track without anyone seeing tongue.gif

Well hopefully i will be getting down there in the Z, to break my circuit virginity this year. Am i correct in assuming that the personal safety requirements for the drags apply here? ie long sleeves and pants. helmet is a given. Also what is the go with the license? One off fee and it allows you to race or what?

Correct ...

Long sleeve shirt

Pants - Jeans, cargos, fat pants, bomber pants etc IPB Image

Enclosed shoes - Personally I like those which have a thinner sole so you can feel your pedal pressure better

You can pay for a single day license or there is another one which is annual ?

The other lads will know smile.gif

jezza323
Post #103

yeah you can get an annual licence, $55

garlic_s5rx7
Post #104

or a day license for either $25 or $20... If you buy a day license, you have a month to decide to upgrade to the yearly.

yeah that is my problem exactly, they dissapear up the front straight only to have me wedged up their arse again at turn 1 and then stuck there all the way round to the last turn head_wall.gif it stuffs up your times as well. I like being in the faster groups as my PB's aften come from chasing down a car that is just that little bit quicker thumbsup.gif
