Yeh I tend to agree (sometimes) for a few Of them it was in shadow so i didn't have a choice, but there were one or two where I did it on purpose to add movement.
Thanks heaps mate.

great set of shots harry.

dont like the skating ones where the whole person is blurry but ones like number 14 is a cool effect where only his legs and the board are a little blurry.

I went out a couple of days ago, but didn't have time to get them up, been busy sorting out insurance claims for a crash I was in, also trying to get my shit together with getting my window fixed after being broken into...
Damn I have had a lucky streak! Get broken into, 10mins later, get rear-ended...

Anyway, these are the photos...

Skate-Panning! ---> 1. 2. 3.
4. 5. 6.

I just thought I would note: I dont actually know ANY of these people, they are actually complete randoms!

I know they are simliar to my last set, sorry for being repedetive. I am going out tonight, hopefully get some good ones then.

Not bad Harry, I should ask my bro if he is happy for me to take some shots of him skating! I think a fisheye would be fantastic for that sort of thing, what do you reckon? I mean they do it with the video cameras in 411 Video Magazine etc.

I wanted to do that really badly but the problem is that the loaction is all under shade cover and my fisheye NEEDS a very small aperture so the edges are not ridiculoously soft. I generally have to use f.29! So when I put it on in the shade and set it to f.29, I have to use a shutter speed of about 2secs and that is just useless.

Yeh I would love to see someone else's skate pics if anyone has any. I have never tried Skate before. It's not that hard to shoot, just hard to find a location with evenly distributed lighting and one that is not a boring skate park. I'm not saying skate parks are bad, it's just that it has to be a cool looking skate park to give it a good backdrop and the right sort of mood.

i reakon the hobart stake park could accommodate for that.. has a cement wall over 2 metres high on one of the main ramps.. maybe have a go at it there rainey?

btw Harry number 5 for the win wink.gif stands out more then the others to me

You use the fisheye at that aperture? Maybe i should try that, never even thought of it.
Tomorrow i'll have a few up hopefully, going to reddie for bit of a skate.

In a few weeks i should have some decent ones 'cause i get to go out with some local nationally sponsored guys. Can't wait.

Skatepark photos suck in comparison to a nice set of stairs or gap.

Nice shots ghetto, I recon the 1st would have been the best, bugger about the head and arm being cut off though.

Major,
Yeh I hadn't tried it before, I just wanna try all different types of photography, Only been at it 4 months, still experimenting alot. I don't know what I'll do next though...

Rainey,
I might give one or two fisheye's a go, but I don't want to dwell on any particular type of photography for too long. Not yet anyway. It gets boring very quickly when people only have one type of shot day after day. Even it they are good.

Cheers for that Puzzle man, I like ur thinking,
It just so happens that I took the same shot without the car in it. It was less exposed too.
I cropped it (although slightly less than urs) Wadaya think?

Harry

i like the new skate shots

Yeh I agree,
The guy had no idea I was taking the shot so I couldn't try it again.

Moment,
Don't worry, I wont, I'm not sure I'lleven get a chance to take the shot. I'm selling the camera very soon. I have th guy coming round this week to pick it up, so i'll be camera-less for about a week sad.gif Oh well, th D80 is worth the wait!

OK it's not official
I NO LONGER HAVE A DIGITAL SLR!
The trusty D50 is now gone and the New D80 is on it's way. Equipped with a Sigma 18-200mm, I have only just discovered this lens, I was about to get a Tamron 18-200mm but after reading this I have decided so get the Sigma, it has a steel frame and is alot sharper and is actually $110 CHEAPER than the Tamron... How can I loose!
The whole Package is a huge bargain, my dad travels to the UK and back once every week or two so I can get it from the UK with a 17.5% discount because it is duty free. All in all it will only cost me $1650 for the whole lot!! (after tax-back) which is only $650 more than I sold my D50 for!

Anyway, I did take a couple of shots before i sold the D50
They are not the best, just wanted to try it out. Also, Before you comment, the girl in the blue is my little sister and they are all only 16. Then again Nickle is 17, but she can defend herself smile.gif

1. 2. 3.
4. 5.

shots are awesome yet again harry no 3 FTW.. i tried the mirror effect with b'n'w photography a few years ago.. but colour is heaps better... you're going to have lots of fun with the d80. i was playing with one of these the other day when i was looking for my remote wink.gif and the sigma lense is awesome too.. from what i've heard.. and for the price you're getting it for.. of couse you can't loose hsdance.gif

the sigma is metal construction which means durable.. but so is the tamron it just has a plastic coating.. and they both have zoom lock.. they're spot on about the true focal range.. with the cameras.. if i can find the websites again i'll send you the links..

enjoy the d80 thumbsup.gif

Cool man, I've still been checking your posts, continued great work. Can't wait to see what the D80 brings. Crap loads better I'd say, I know my camera upgrade is certainly worlds apart smile.gif

Haven't played with that Sigma 18-200mm, but if its sharper than the Tamron like you say, it'll do a treat, coz the Tamron is a nice piece of work...on a Canon tongue.gif (Sorry, couldn't help myself smile.gif)

Jimeegee,
Have a look at this, it's the two next to each other:

Hmmm...worlds apart. Don't know about this one though Harry, the quality of the Tamron is far off what I've managed to get with it in the past, but there's no denying how well the Sigma shapes up. No wonder its so popular...that and the fact Nikon can't supply enough 18-200s of their own smile.gif

Can't wait til you get it thumbsup.gif
