So you should change your user title from lens size=dick size, to tripod size = dick size eh?? tongue.gif

This is a bit of a bump but I just thought I would add a couple of random shots I have taken.
I am hoping to get out this weekend coz it is a long weekend.

anyway here they are:

this one is the first time I have tried using photoshop to do one of this type of pic:

these are done with NO photoshopping at all:
1. 2.

and some fire... for fun:

C&C welcomed as usual,

Cheers

You are such a poser... lol. Good shots tho. Who's the other guy???

I went out tonight and there was bugger all of a sunset so i cheated and used one of the new filters I got...
well it wasnt really cheating. photoshop would have been cheating cos that filter is a BITCH to use!! i ended up using chewy to hold it up the 30 seconds so it wouldnt move!

anyway, tell me what u think.
1. 2. 3.

Cheers

Cheers Tyler,
I was using a nicotine/tobacco filter, they look so much better when u r using the filter instead of putting it on in photoshop.
I didnt even notice that light... thanks for pointing it out. I'll get rid of it when I print it.

Cheers for the feedback,
Harry

Fair enough. I spose u have to know the context of the shot. Cottesloe beach is extremely busy in summer and in winter it is like a war zone! there is crap everywhere. That shot looks so different to what u would see if u went there tommorow. There is no seaweed, no rain, no spiky rocks, no danger signs etc.
This is a shot without the filter. same shot just no color to it. and believe me. That shot is still incredibly different to the real thing!

I will straighten up that horizon on the original. I didnt even notice! Thanks for the feedback.

this wouldn't happen to be the new fantastic D80 that you're using is it? Or did u just happen to get a hold of some filters... with chewy... nice touch lol.
Really interesting shots though. Unfortunately my comp is screwing up a little so i cant actually enlarge them atm but they're looking good. Nice to c you trying different things smile.gif

I wish it was the D80!! It comes out in late september so i'll get one then.
I have a set of 5 gradiating filters and a polariser (screw on), they are really hard 2 use though and i had no blu tack so i resorted to chewy!

nah they are all different. The one i just got is 2m high, my old one was 1.3m high.
Yeh i just noticed her leg. i photoshopped the bottom of her dress to make it look cool and i must have smudged her leg a bit.
Cheers guys

I have a couple of new ones from tonight.
They are not the best I have done but I needed a hit and this was the result.

The grainy effect in some of them happened after re-sizing and i cant figure out how to stop it. The originals are perfect, just the small versions looks weird.

1. 2. 3.
4. 5.

C&C Welcomed as always.

out of interest, how much photoshopping do you do to these pictures? I'll have to invest in a night and drive out to fremantle to get some nice pictures. Probably overdone north of the river

vp_s_wagon
Post #278

In terms of actual manipulation there is none, just partial desaturation and shadow increase during the RAW processing. No filters, No effects and no manipulation (besides cropping.)
Tonight was unlike any other night I have seen in Freo. There was zero wind, it was very very humid (my car, camera and lenses were all wet with condensation after 15 mins even though it was only 19 Degrees!) and the sky was VERY black, with no clouds. It was quite spooky... Sith would have liked it!
Made for some oright photos though.
Yeh freo is great for shots as long as u know where 2 go. My recomendation is fishingboat harbour about 100m south of the Maritime Museum.

Nice shots Harry

I like No. 1

Rainey
Post #280

Probably No 1. but they all seem to be lacking something. Dull colours and a pretty mundane subject just aren't doing it for me.

mmmm i agree, there really semms to be a lack of color in these photo's, it was why i asked what sort of photoshop work was done to them.

I am not sure what everyones obsession is with desaturating images to go for the black and white look is. Its becoming a bit played out IMO

Fair comment.
They are all partially de-saturated but they all still have some color so that they dont look too 'flat'.
I'll show u what the originals look like. Tell me what u think.

1. 2. 3.
4.

The only one I think looks as good or better is number 2 (Number 1 in the first post) with the original saturation

Some more great shots Harry, love no.1 of the latest set, just needs to be a bit straighter, I like it better with the colour too...

wow such a difference. except for the bridge one, the other photo's are really quite average.

I can see why you'd rather shoot in digital

Ghetto Panda
Post #286

I'm really undecided with the bridge photo i really like the colourless look but also really like the colour one as well. Either way great shot.

Yeh. When I got back I was really pissed off cos they look pretty crap, so I spent about 20 mins fixing them all to bring them to an acceptable standard. Much better!

Good to see that new Tripod being put to sweet use. Not sure about the latest batch, #2 stands out, the rest don't really do much for me. Really sharp and contrasty but lacks a subject and the bride just runs straight through the centre of the frame.

Yeh i see what u mean. I need to go and find some properly good photos. I WILL get some. I just need to find a place that I havent been and find some sort of interesting shot.

Something a little bit better:

1. (5 min exposure) 2. - I know it looks crooked, cant help it. The building was on an angle away from me so i cant rotate it to make it better.

What do u think?
