QUOTE(Twist @ Jul 20 2006, 03:31 PM) You've done better Harry What shutter speed did you use ? on the jetty one I used an f. number of 25, ISO 800 and a shutter speed of 2.5 seconds. On the silouhette of the girls I used F.29 and exposure of 1/6sec I agree, they r not the best. Cheers Harry |

QUOTE(Nickle @ Jul 21 2006, 11:46 AM) Hahaha I'd like you to know the 4th photo is actually mine... but I gave Harry permission to steal it because I used his camera.... It's not that great and I've done better... but its still mine haha Its not her's, its the other chick's. dont listen to her... Yeh Nickle and her friend ange took numbers 3 and 4. I wasnt sure if they actually wanted credit. or in the case of these shots. Blame. Nicle, u put some of ur shots up in ur own thread... She's good. Nickle, unlike myself, actually know lots of shit about photography, but she uses film SLR's to do it so they are few in number but very high it quality. Yay more from WA! (wow that rhymed... how gay!) Cheers Hary |

Postman, no filter, its better without one because you get the nice blue glare off the top of the water rather than whn u use one and you can see through the water. Cheers guys Harry |

QUOTE(vp_s_wagon @ May 31 2006, 12:06 PM) I'm Still not that good at using my camera to it's full potential so if anyone could tell me what settings I may need to change in order for my my pics to be better quality that would be great. The biggest problem I have been having is that the night skys and dark water turn out a bit grainy in some shots. Can anyone tell me why and how to fix it? Cheers Harry Your grain problem is caused by the long exposures on your digital camera. It seems that the longer you leave the shutter open, the more likely it is for your digital information to become a but scrambled and confused. Unfortunately the only way to fix this is to widen your apperture to allow for a faster shutter speed, or you could shoot in film which can handle long exposures better. The better the camera, the more easily it handles grain, but it is a common problem which has not yet got a solution. |

Cheers Carly, The way I have found to get around it is to shoot in RAW so I can adjust the shadow amounts and eliminate noise. I have the same sensor as ur D70 in my camera, although for some reason the D50's are slightly less prone to noise at higher ISO's. The only times I get it are, as u said, when I need a high f.number for city shots etc. I have found that it is not too bad anymore. And about the film, I would prefer to live with a bit of noise which I can remove in photoshop than go back to film! It is so annoying and I know nothing about it! Do u shoot in RAW? |

I shoot in raw when i have room on my card for the file size, and also when i have access to a good computer for converting. With most of my work i have to fit like 500 shots on my card so yeah. Film is great, but it takes a bit to learn. It is definately an art in itself:) |
