What car is the SR20DE in ?

If pulsar... GTiR manifold + turbo....
U13 Manifold + turbo (from bluebird sss)

If S13...

SR20DET manifold + turbo...

U will also need an aftermarket fuel pump... DET injectors...
Perhaps you might want to run a DET Ecu as well.

You will need a frog mounted intercooler.
Piping.. BOV.. turbo timer..
Oh, you will need to get a dump pipe made up also.

Um you could just bolt a trubo on the sr20de and running about 10-12psi with bigger injectors, intercooler, oil cooler, fuel pump, remapped computer and a few other things. You will have excellent response and high levels of torque; more than the standard sr20det. However, to make this effective you must have the setup properly tuned.

Also forget about installing standard sr20det pistons, if you really want added strenth just get a set of forgies. They are less than $1000 and are considerably easier to find than standard sr20det pistons.

Yes you can turbo an SR20DE. You don't need new pistons, you don't need a turbo timer. What you do need is a turbo and manifold off an SR20DET, otherwise an aftermarket SS one as they are so cheap no. You will also need DET injectors.

You can do it 2 ways, the DE has the provisions for the oil and water lines, yet the hole are blanked off. You can drill an tap the holes and use the original water and oil lines from a DET motor or other wise pick up the oil from the oil pressure switch, and the water lines from the heater.

Once the turbo is instaleed with all associated line, you'll need to install you DET injectors. They just swap over.

Now is the tricky part, either use a GTIR ecu, as they use a dizzy as well, and you need to slightly modify your wiring of the DE, but not much. Otherwise get a daughter board from PLMS Developments and then get the maps from a DET burnt onto the new DE daughterbaord, and basically it's just swap over the ecu. If you would like a contact who can do it for you, I can put you in touch with someone dpending on your location.

With this setup you could safely run low psi, nothing over 10 is really good, but I have heard people running 12-14psi with no dramas, just be weary of detonation. Honestly it is a cheap option, and can be done for around $700 with the right knowledge. Hope it helps.

I think C-red in Perth do this type of conversion and seem to get good results.

I'm unsure whats envolved in the process thou.

This begs the question....why re-invent the wheel? It would be a lot less trouble (less heartache, less work, and probably less money) to just put an SR20DET in....instead of trying to grow the DE into a DET.

But....whatever tickles your fancy.

That may be true, but what about in the future when you kill an engine.....a DE is certainly a hell of alot cheaper than the DET. You would get 3 DE's for the price of 1 DET. Given a "normal" amount of boost, under 10psi for example, i doubt the DE would blow up 3 times in the lifespan of one DET. (Taking into considerationthat the DE's Life was probably alot easier than the DET, afterall, turbo vehicles are bought to be thrashed)

Reportedly these conversion produce a mountain more torque due to the higher compression ratio in the DE engines.
