Just thought I would throw up a few pics of my Opel Omega (Holden Commodore/Cadillac Catera) with a 1JZ-GTE swapped in. I live in Thailand which is engine swappers paradise.

I did away with the stock twins, as they were intefering with the brake servo, and its now a TD-08.

I am somewhat limited as I am only using an EVO FMIC which just sits nicely, without too much hacking around. FMIC from RB26 would be better but a bit of an ordeal to get it in and make it look nice. Because of this I make more power at 1.3 bar than 1.5.

For engine management (to get A/F ratios right) I use Greddy E-Manage. I think it is impossible to use a stand alone ECU as the factory unit is needed to control the autobox.

SARD 550cc injectors, 3 Bosch fuel pumps.

I had some problems at higher boost, this was traced back to the cheap wastegate, I just replaced it with an expensive Trust one. Now it boosts up to 1.5 no worries.

3" stainless straight through, no cats and no silencer boxes.

HKS electronic variable boost controller.

Brakes Skyline R33.

Has taken me a long time to iron out all the niggles, but the car is running well and is very quick. Also sounds fantastic.

    that thing looks very odd, almost looks like a combo of a pulsar, commy, and a few others, but nice choice of engine, and that turo is mad

    In the UK we had the "Vauxhall Carlton" which I believe was the "Holden Calais" in Oz, and the "Vauxhall Senator" which was the "Holden Commodore". Both these models were discontinued in 1994 to make way for a new model, the "Vauxhall Omega", or the "Opel Omega B" as it was known in mainland Europe (because the UK "Vauxhall Carlton" had been badged as the "Opel Omega" since 1986 outside of the UK. Europe never got the 3.8 V6 engine as far as I'm aware. There are a still a fair few older Holden Calais with the V6 buzzing around here in Thailand.

    Some blurb from a UK "buying used" website :

    "The Omega was to be the Vauxhall that BMW, Mercedes and Audi customers could buy with confidence. Launched in 1994, it was intended to blur the difference between mainstream executive cars and their prestige sector counterparts. And it has. Though there aren't many about on the used market, they make desirable buys. An Omega is built just as well as any rival from Bavaria, Stuttgart or Ingolstadt. Yet market perception continues to place a lower value on that Vauxhall badge; hence the fact that a second-hand version is far better value"

    " The 1994 Vauxhall/Opel Omega was an all-new car with a modern exterior design but a traditional rear-wheel drive chassis. The engine range was all-new: Four cylinder engines were a 2.0 L petrol and a 2.5 L turbo-diesel which were reasonably refined and gave acceptable performance.     I think its closer in size to a Commodore than an Astra/Vectra. Its quite a big car.

    WTF it has a Vauxhall badge on the front and a Opel badge on the back also a Nissan GTR badge on the side.

    And its a Commodore (Omega) with a Toyota engine good choice of mixed brands.

    I didnt know what it was until I had a closer look at it. smile.gif

    Well spotted !

    The car is actually an Opel, but I thought the Vauxhall grille looks better than the Opel counterpart, so I picked one up last time I was over in the UK.

    The Nissan GTR badge I always liked, and couldn't resist slapping one on when I saw them going cheap. I think its a bit wankerish though.

    One of my favourites is the right side of the boot lid - the "2.5 GT-T" badge. The font is similar to the Opel on the opposite side. I think thats from a Chaser or something ?

    That is a headfcuk, Looks like a Citreon Xsara from the front, VT Commodore from the side and a Peugot from the rear... And a Toyota engine??? Argh!

    Anyone down under swapping 1JZGTE into Commodore ? I would like to see some pics. Not quite sure what the Commodore looks like. Is it quite similar to mine ?

    Hi Mate,

    I'm originally from UK but have lived in Thailand for some years (lucky me).

    There are loads of engine swaps here, I would guess that around 80% of Volvo 740's are running 1JZGE, as well as the old Benz W123. Loads of 200SX powered by 2JZGTE, and the ubiquitous Cefiro A31 with RB25/1JZGTE/2JZGTE are everywhere. Because of hefty import duties on sports/luxury cars it easier to build your own kit.

    I also have a '94 Lancer with a 4G63T, but to my mind you can't beat the 6 pot turbocharged Toyota lumps (although there are great things spoken about the RB26DETT, but a bit too dear for now).

    awesome conversion. great place to have a car like that cos driving in thailand is NUTS!!!!!! I was over there on hols recently and holy shite, the roads are crazy. have fun with it.
