Alot of it comes down to car set-up, if your going out to try and break your 60ft times then you adjust the ladder bars accordingly. I think before we cast judgement we should find out if the car was using a very large touque converter, and what sorta rear end.

You never indend to car and damage a car, my car will carry the wheels for a bit, but the first time it went straght up. Enough to scare the sh!t out of me, so I backed off and then it came down with a huge bang.

More often than not, the track takes you by surprise. Your not aware of just how sticky it will be, and your setup is then wrong, usually its changed after your first pass, but its all fun and games!

`nigno: I am flicking through my ANDRA book and cannot find one for specifically wheelie bars. Most of the fuel cars dont run them, so i'd imagine if there was a rule that it would blanket cover group 1.

Cheers
Craig

That was my thinking too... although without having proper knowledge was hesitant to give out incorrect info cheers for clearing it up though smile.gif

EDIT: Just thought of something to... possible throttle may have jammed and it took him that long to hit the emergency kill switch.

I didn't mean my previous posts as a harsh dig at the driver and team, there are many things that could have attributed to it... I just think that if it was due to ignorance and lack of preparation that they are fucking idiots coz ppl can get seriously hurt (other than the driver which is pretty obvious).

'nigno - its clear you dont know what the hell your talking about, so please dont bother posting trash...

No one knows for certain if the car is going to pick up the wheels, there are way too many factors in it to even begin guessing. And calling a "drag team" stupid is silly in itself as this guy may be a privateer entrant as I do not see any corporate sponsorship stickers plastered all over the car.

So please, for your sake, do yourself a favour and dont post rubbish.

Hahahahahhaa living up to your name Silly Silvia smile.gif

It doesnt take a genius to work out slicks + big hp = wheelstand....
I dont give a fuck if he is a privateer or sponsored... he is still a dickhead if that was caused by ignorance and lack of preperation smile.gif

So you can shut your fucking mouth, have a good day thumbsup.gif

Go onto draglist.com the website I got it off, or nitromater.com, and post the photos and the exact same things you said and see the response you will get.

I don't want this to turn into a personal poo flinging fight here but what do you know about drag cars anyhow?

`nigno
Post #41

Your missing my fucking point...

I SAID IF ITS DUE TO IGNORANCE AND LACK OF PREPARATION.... ffs

Oh how would Craig know anything about running in quick sedans, he only races a 9 second torana with 600hp laugh.gif

Almost all top fuel cars run without wheeliebars and they infact have 8000 horsepower, get from nort to a hundred and sixty in point 8 of a second and do the 1/4 mile in 4 and a half seconds at 330mph +

Track conditions, wind, and a lot of other unpredictable things can come into factor.

Also when you said lack of preperation you just didn't say that, you said because of a wheelie bar

Also even the multi million dollar teams that have been racing for decades have had wild occurances.

It is drag racing .....

Some of the people agree with you, and some people don't, that is the beauty of forums.

I apologise for my concern with ppl's safety smile.gif very silly of me to get passionate and irrate when there are ppl's wellbeing at stake biggrin.gif

As for top fuelers etc running big hp with no wheelie bars.... wheelbase ???? aerodynamics... rear end setup etc Nah that couldnt have anything to do with it.

This is my last post in this thread as its becoming pointless all im saying is that it was fucking dangerous and if it was the driver/teams fault they should be ashamed of themselves for a) putting the driver at risk b) everyone else surrounding the car including spectators smile.gif

Have a good day chaps.

I would say this is your last post because you have run out of bullshit to spin...

when coming of the line at the drags there are two things a car can do...

Hook up
Wheelspin

With massive HP and big slicks it can work either way, its as simple as that...

But there is no point explaining that to an drag safety expert like you is there?

Hit the nail right on the head with that one, track and air conditions come into factor

Did I ever claim to be an expert, hence why i asked someone about the regulations regarding wheelie bars, I was merely concerned for the safety of ppl and as a result have suffered abuse from the know alls smile.gif

Say what you want i still stand by my comments... safety first in my mind smile.gif

Yeah well someone with a 9 second torana gave you an answer, and explained these occurances at times can come unexpected dunno.gif

Yeah and i accepted that.... Im still entitled to my opinion, and i still think your missing the point.

If it was a freak occurence then whoopdeedoo shit happens, poor guys have to repair their car now along with the driver being pretty shaken up.

If it was due to them being a bunch of slap stick yokels that have poor planning and havent investigated the realms of their car correctly before planting it on the strip then FUCK THEM AND FUCK YOU TOO

carlwitt
Post #51

I am entitled to my opinion also and now it is that you're rude. I was just answering your question dude.

Air and the track conditions gets better, or worse, and with large amounts of horsepower, it would react differently in the weather, simple as that.

Some of the classes that people compete in wheelie bars are not legal to use for the class, so this may be the case with the above car.

Sports RWD in the Andra sports compat classes is one such category where wheelie bars are illegal, so before you launch into an attack about the sanity or mental competency of the competitors, officals, etc, it might be best to understand the class rules first.

Off topic:
Quick warning to various people (*points directly at nigno*) to watch themselves... You're about || <-- that close (to scale) of getting multiple warnings in a single thread. Not a bad effort.

Prehaps accept what people who may just know more about the subject in question are telling you, instead of arguing and handing out more than your fair share of "FUCK" comments?

On topic:
Is there a video version floating around? Surely someone caught it on camera.... Wouldnt mind seeing that in real time biggrin.gif
