Yeah, sure mate. rolleyes.gif

If you can build a legal, safe drag strip that runs 24/7 which meets all of the council, government and ANDRA regulations, and still be alot cheaper than Willowbank then ill be the first to congratulate you.
And as i'm a bit of a realist, i dont think ill be handing out any congratualatory messages any time soon!

Anyway, nothings impossible, and the airport is the all time great of midnight racing, it would be excellent if someone had big enough balls to create a racing masterpiece out there cool.gif

24/7 was typed before your post came onto the thread.
So in actual fact the track isnt available any time you want.

Be careful Carl, you might get attacked for actually having a commonsense opinion which differs from some people.

And forskies..... if you dont want people to make comment that may not be in your favour, then dont post this on a public forum. Forums are for discussion of ideas, whether it be good or bad. If you havent got the maturity to understand that, then what hope have you got in running a drag strip?

He had an awesome turbo porsche which he pedaled at one of the many famous tracks around Australia, and now he races shrunken supercar models with motorbike engines, seems like a backward step to me dunno.gif

Hello my name is Carl Witt, I own and run a drag racing publication online for over five years (url in my profile), and have been to five drag strips in my life time and have travelled as far as to L.A. to the otherside of the planet for a drag meeting.

I can usually be found though most of the time on the startline at Willowbank Raceway taking photos at the wall.

Just reading some of the B.S. on here is just bloody ridiculous, do you even have any clue of what you're on about?

Why need one in Brisbane when Willowbank is only an hour away at the most. Can't have one to close to residential areas either because of noise restrictions. Willowbank is smack bang in between the Gold Coast, & Brisbane, is a world class facility, and only costs $36 for you and a mate to get in and one of you can race as many times within the one night. They are run like every single Wednesday and Saturday twice a week.

Usually when this debate comes up it goes nowhere with people thinking "Oh lets build a dragstrip" without thinking it through with where? how? or why?

Quit ya crying because you don't have a drag strip within 15 minutes of your home and just go out to Willowbank. If you don't like what I say... go ahead... prove me wrong and build your sucessful dragstrip.
Be realistic here okay….
The government has already pumped millions of dollars into Willowbank Raceway which is under an hour from Brisbane and an hour from the Gold Coast right. Yet you think they are willing to pump millions of more tax payer's dollars for a 24 hour drag strip just for people on the north side of Brisbane??

Anyway, this residential, since when was the airport residential?
I think a 737 coming in to land over houses would cause russell crowe to throw phones!!!

Because drag cars are louder than aeroplanes you idiot... go ahead... prove me wrong...

They wouldn't even consider in a million years of funding something stupid like that...

Read my above post moreon, if you have actually been to a proper drag racing meeting you would know they are actually louder than aeroplanes. Have you ever even been to a drag racing meeting?

You can easiley hear the quick cars at the end of the breaking area (half a kilometre away).

Oh yeah how the hell wouldn't I know that? I have only been to ever group 1 drag meeting in South East QLD in the last 5 years, wake up to yourself you toss bag and if I am so wrong... go ahead and prove me wrong and show us your drag strip the government or council or whatever unorganised thing you think will get it done.

They won't even consider doing it anywhere on the north side of Brisbane.

By the way the actual brisbane airport is nowhere near houses

OBT100
Post #86

A drag strip for street cars!!! Drive in, off the street under its own power?

carlwitt
Post #87

Yeah and it will be on the north side of brisbane and the government will pay for it to be run 24 hours a day? quit dreaming? it can't and wouldn't be done
