Go MP for an engine that lasts about 6 months =P

hmmm i think bp is the way to go, just deciding what engine now, better of getting a 13b and getting all the work done before putting it in

13B bridgy in a gemi, exactly the same as my mates

Run the 12a into the ground, then when it is hammered, replace it with a 13b bp or turbo! Save ur pennies til then so that it will be a worthwile transplant.... thats wat i would do laugh.gif laugh.gif

standard port, extend port, turbo port, J port, bridge port, monster port, Periphrial port!!!

there are also some other variants. i think i put these in order from mild to wild!!!

standard port-self explain

extend port- the port is slightly enlarged causing the powerband to move higher

turbo port- pretty much a extend port used to harness the most from a turboed engine. turbos and bigger ports dont seem to be the best.

J port- the port is looks like a 'J' shape once again causing a higher powerband

bridgeport- the standard port, with an extra port (smaller eye brow looking) running next to it. its called bridge port because there is a little bridge between the 2 ports to support the rotor seals from falling in.

monster port- correct me if i am wrong but i think its a bridge port with 2 big ports not one big and one small!!!

Periphrial Port- the exsiting ports are totally sealed up and then a tunnel is made through the Periphrial housing (hence the name) it sorta looks the exhaust ports but just above them. this is the wildest of all ports and can really make the engine rev!!! i have heard storys with a good periphrial port and exhaust and carby, you can make around triple standard power!!! (not bad when comparing to the power gain on a piston engine with porting!!!!)

there are also some other ports that are in the same families as others but yeah i hope that helps

monster port is a huge as extend port with a bridge

and peripheral ports cant be used with any sort of induction

not entirley sure of the scientific reasons, something to do with making the exhaust mixture dirty (too much unburnt fuel and oil)

the best reference for anything trochoidal (the pattern in which a rotor rotates) is building a tougher rotary, a technical guide

its about 10 years old, but has all the fundamentals. can still get it a some newsagents, (looks like a magazine)(is a magazine)

looks real bodgy, but is a definite 10 points for informativity

with the periphrial port you can use forced induction i belive but yeah it is shit and not cool!!! but yeah exhuast doesnt just flow out the exhaust because there is soooo much overlap and also the fuel can run strait in and strait out the exhaust causing it to run dirty(also because of port overlap!!!!! this is why they blow nice flames!!! i think turbo or extend port are the biggest they seem to go with turbos!!!

the shape is called a epitrochoid actually

at the moment the 12a is shooting flames outa the exaust, ask pyrtox about it, and when i turn her off, about 1 second after the engine is turned off a big lould bang goes off with a blue flame about 30cm tongue.gif

blown13b
Post #19

yeah the bang is normal!!! my 12a did that too!!! the flames can be from running rich too!! flames dont really hurt aslong as there is no turbo in the path!!! but with your question really its one of those things Turbos are wickedly easy horsepower and have endless powergains but still today i would love another old series 1 or older rx and put a nice 13bPP BIG carby etc all nice looking!!! it would sound mad have balls BUT fuel consumption and reliablity isnt the best!!! so theres goods in both. i wouldnt recomend getting another 12a if you are planning on putting a different motor in as the 12a parts are becoming more rare and more expensive!!! plus a 13b is more reliable and more powerful!!! oh and PP arnt cheap either!!!!! expensive to do plus you need a custom manifold and you will need a bigger carb and a bigger exhaust strait up!!! it would cost around the same as a 13bt i guess!!!

I thought a monster port was just the dude taking to the metal and removing as much as possible without hitting a water jacket?

They dont last long because the wall is so thin between port and water jacket and there is fuck-all structural integrity left smile.gif

blown13b
Post #23

yeah i think you have to fill in some of the water jacket with a monster port!!!
