Post #1 post 2nd December 2004 - 04:22 PM
Many will know what this cruise is all about. Just as many will know that i, like others on Boostcruising was involved in a major accident that on two occasions claimed my life. There was a team of that work in the Intensive Care sector of the Royal Brisbane Hospital that pretty much always deal with cases this bad and to say the least are the kindest, most selfless bunch of people i have ever met. They worked around the clock on me for several weeks to bring me out of a coma and didnt give up where many others would have. I am eternally in these peoples debt and had the idea to hold a cruise, gather people and raise a little bit of money for these doctors and nurses, not for the patients but actually for the staff to say thankyou for the miracles that you work, nothing huge just spare change or something, anything would be a help to these people.

There will also be ribbons of red and white to symbolise the doctors and nurses who work so hard, they will be available for $2 on the day.

Stickers have also been made available and are being produced as we speek. Please see below for the design. The stickers will be made available for $8 on the day, this way the combination of a support ribbon and a sticker will make a neat and tidy price of $10, helping to keep things easy for everyone.

*******A flyer is being produced that will be handed out on the day and also this thursday at various hot spots entailing the reasons behind the cruise, plans, and the route.*******

When: January 15th. This should give peopel plenty of time to organise their days off and stuff.

Meeting Spot 1:

Cruise Leader at this spot will be myself, in a Black BMW 320.
Aspley Hypermarket car-park. Everyone knows this place, just across the road from aspley maccas, so it should not be a problem to find. Meeting time for here will be 11:00 onwards, hoping to make a getaway by 11:30/45.

Meeting Spot 2:

Cruise Leader for thise spot will most likely be vlgirlm1cc
This will be at the Springwood maccas.
Mainly for the southsiders that are wishing to attend. If it needs to be moved further south thats fine by me. I have a feeling Tim Tam will be the cruise leader from this location. Meeting here will be around 10:30 so that they can make a getaway somewhere near 11:00 and be pretty much on par with us on the northside. thumbsup.gif

Meeting Spot 3:

This will be headed by HER82, and will be at the shell at Goodna, mainly for people coming from ipswich and surrounding areas. Meeting time here will be 10.00 am to allow time to meet the rest of the pack.

Midway:
Next stop is the BP Truckstop at Caboolture/Mooreyfield. At the stop there will be flyers handed out with all the ribbons sold and stickers, and if people need one just let me know, this will have directions and possible a small map, along with the sponsors of the cruise and a short paragraph about what the cruise is for.The meeting time here is aimed at around 12:15. From here, all can park around the back, there is time enough to grab petrol, food, chat, get pictures or video footage and do whatever. I will hopefully be driving so i might have to get ronan to do the video this time but if i am still out of action ile be your cameraman so smile biggrin.gif Aim to leave the BP at 1pm.

At the coast:
A well known spot and proven car park is out the front of the grassy oval next to the Alex Heads surf club. This can fit in excess of 100 cars on one side and there is also heaps of room on the other side of the road. I will have a footy onboard so we can feel free to swim, bum around and check out cars, more photo and footage time and cut a few laps if you want. Someone with a noice stereo can give us some tunes too wiggle.gif hsdance.gif

Once up the coast there are many options that we can all decide on, abundant food joints and a nice big carpark out the back of Hungry Jacks for all to park in once again. There is also the spit just up the road that everyone can cruise to and just bum around in general. All in all it looks to be an awesome day. The names i have got from the other thread are in here and anybody else who wishes to join is more than welcome. Also, as this is now a saturday, there is the option of us staying up the coast late, and doing whatever, some including me wont be 18 but we can find something

ANY IDEAS FOR PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO SPONSOR THIS CRUISE PLEASE CONTACT ME.:

Im pretty sure there is but it may be one of those dodgy ones where you press the button and theres no heat or hardly any. I would be keen as I said in the last thread we gotta eat. How bout further down where the trawlers come in wavey.gif

If we didnt do the bbq thing because not everbody likes a sausage smile.gif that may give us more time to talk, play footy, swim or whatever we want to do? On another note that would be a good way to raise even more $$$ by auctioning the sausages off laugh.gif

I know this is a very different idea from what we normally do but how bout somewhere not so public? I know theres a boat ramp just north of Mooloolaba with a park and lots of room for heaps of cars? I think it along Aerodrome Rd then left into Maud st? I think sometimes they have markets there so we would have to check this.

We would love some more support on the day. Round up the pets, familys and friends. Lets not forget what the familys and loved ones go through. My mum tells me If I go back to hospital she will kill me laugh.gif but I understand how she feels. Try to imagine having a kid and being told by all the doctors that he or she will die, it wouldnt be easy. So come on folks round up the troops and support what will be a great day for all.

Some people may think bringing the family is a bit strage and may not want to but dont forget they have just as much reason to be thankful to the RBH as we do.

Call me crazy folks is the family idea a bit to much? I just wanna see alot of people there on the day and raise all we can for these great people.

UPDATE!!!!!

Guess what people, we have coverage!!! I have just recieved a phone call and emails from both Quest Newspapers and The courier mail expressing interest in doing a report on the cruise. Its nothing definite but let me be the first to say FARK YEAH

Below are copies.

Quest:

Hi James,

Thanks for your email. I want in.

Your story sounds like a great one to tell. Did you see my Aspley McDonald's feature in the Northside Chronicle a couple of weeks ago?

Anyway, I'd love to talk to you and get a photograph on Monday morning. Are you free?

Please give me a bell when you can. I'm on 07 3352 ****.

Cheers,

And the courier mail:

Can you supply more details of when the cruise is, where it leaves from,
where it goes to, how you intend to raise money/awareness, and a contact
name and number for the major organiser?
On a personal side: How were you injured? What are your injuries? Where/when
did it happen?

me in icu, i havent got any pics of the car as yet as the legal procedings are still going through.

The lady from quest was talking about getting some sort of photo on monday or sometiem soon? I have no idea what a photo of but if its of a group of us we should all meet and get some good ones, especially the crash victims

lucky luke
Post #34

Hey guys I feel we have to concentrate more on making this a good day and raising money for the RBH rather then showing the media how badly damaged our cars or our bodys were. I think we all know the media is likly to turn this into another hoon story, to which I really hope that they dont. This isnt what Jimbo or I want.

Um the scar off hey are we being serious with this? Might be a good idea but thats something we should be asking the members of boost to pm us with there thoughts. It would be good to keep this topic open for the people that want to add their names and support for the day. Sorry to be a stick in the mud, just dont want the topic closed.

jimbo
Post #35

yeah i must agree, the main aim of this cruise is to raise a little money and awareness. its great that the media is getting involved though, i have made it clear to them that we are looking for POSITIVE attention, the other side of the story that is being told so frequently.

keep those names comin in guys biggrin.gif
