Anyone interessted in organising a christmas cruise!??

Just to get a heap of people together, might be a chance to show off your boost stickers, get some more members!!!!

But make the cruise open to anyone and everyone..... thumbsup.gif

so we need dates, and destinations??? ideas dunno.gif

ATTN: THIS IS NOW A CHARITY CRUISE...

after 'captain avatar' put the idea forward of a fundraiser, we have now organised another stop at 'Palmerston church' - where a Team from the Salvation Army will be on hand to collect all the donations - donations should be in the form of a present for someone between the age of 0 - early 20's... unwrapped if possible!

Try to encourage you're passengers to make a seperate donation of a present, so we double our donation!!!

The salvation army give gifts to over 70 families and over 50 homeless youths in Darwin alone.... each xmas this equates to over 400 gifts, so our donation will be a huge help!

James from the Salvo's has offered to organise cold drinks and what not upon arrival and would like to say a few words of thanx.... so come on guys let's get on this! pm me for any extra details... This will be a great opportunity for us car enthusiasts to give something back to the community.... so spread the word!

Ok so,

Sunday 19th December, 1.30pm at the Trams for a 2.00pm leave...

You'll need to be fueled up and ready for a laugh.... bring some nibbles and beverages for the final stop which will be a BBQ at Cas Beach....We will be driving straight to Palmerston via the route below... Maps will be provided on arrival for those who don't know where Palmo is lol

Tram (Barramundi Bay)

Up hill, Left at Tiger Brennan

Through to Mitchell

Down Mitchell

Down past Casino

Follow along through Fanny Bay, Dick Ward Dr to Nightclliff Rd

Left onto Nightcliff Rd and follow foreshore back to Rapid Creek rd

Left onto Trower Rd through to Vanderlin Dr

Right at Vanderlin Drive out front of Caruarina Sq

Along Vanderlin Dr to McMillans Rd

Left at McMillans Rd to Stuart Hwy

Along Hwy to Palmerston

Right a Temple Tce to the salvos...


It's a xmas cruise so make sure you're in a christmas mood thumbsup.gif So get yourself a Santa hat and tinsel your car!

You will need to bring:

UHF radio (optional)
Chair
An unwrapped gift, money donation or non perishable food
nibbles and drinks
camera

We'll organise a channel for chit-chat on radios/UHFs or whatever on the day... if you want my mobile number just pm me....

We'll try and organise a few prizes and stuff for cruisers closer to the date, and let me know of any invites you hand out so i can judge numbers! hsdance.gif see you all there!

I'd be happy to join in, but we can't go too far cause the roads get pretty crappy and my car is too low and the kit will probably get ripped off the car. haha.
Well why not start with the obvious hotspots for cruisers like the T Wharf, Nightcliff jetty/pool carparks, through the city (to get more exposure)....but stay away from TDZ i think as i've heard the cops are all over that joint cause of racers....
also the availability of the cruisers as i work all kinds of shitty hours and i'm sure there are others that don't have mon-fri jobs...

but yeah umm i guess meet up have a little cruise go to a pre planned destination and just have like a barbie set up or something so everyone can show there cars off.

Sweet, well that's 3...

i was thinking of a day cruise for once!..... so we can get some nice photos, and a bbq is easy done or take over somewhere for a picnic or raid maccas palmo hahahaha!

we could just cruise out to palmo! everyone got passports facesjump.gif

But yeah, nothing too far away! say:

Town (wharf or esplanade) to cas beach (or Nightcliff Jetty) out to truck city on the way to Palmo, picking up stragglers on the way!

anyone know of a big parking area in palmo, maybe next to a park or something for a BBQ or Picnic thumbsup.gif

I was sh!ting myself when one of my mates pointed to your last effort on teh dance floor and said "she's nice, let go talk to her..." ohnoes.gif

Even after the whole sydney trip I couldnt remember her bloody name. All that was going through my drunken brain at teh time was "... devil spawn, devil spawn, devil spawn, ...."

Last night i went for a quick drive out to palmo... the Marlows Lagoon car park is pretty small... so what about the Palmo uni campus car park! that thing is a fair size and no speed humps!!!!

So far there is only one speed hump on the route and that's at Nightcliff Jetty, so the lower cars should be fine!

Also 'Captain Avatar' has had a great idea that i will let him chuck up here for you guys to comment on! should bring in a bigger crowd to!!!

I think next weekend we'll do a quick mock run, just to see how busy certian areas are at the cruise time... anyone want to come??? wavey.gif

Only other update we have had is, if anyone wants to grab lunch with us on the 19th we will be at the wharf or the trams from about 12.30pm - we'll be the ones wearing the santa hats!! laugh.gif

and let's get some numbers happening... i know there are more Darwin-ites reading this thread than posting!!! Register your interest here!!!

Yep, I basically recommended we do a bit of a charity run, good press, and all that.

Essentially, it'd be a cruise, and there'd be nothing to detract from it, however, I thought of a toy donation event, where everybody donates a toy to a large toy bin, which is then donated to the charity of choice. Fake seems to have taken lead on it, so I'll leave it to him, but the reason we should do something like this (AND get as many people involved as we can) is because it gives US the opportunity to ACTIVELY put ourselves out there as nice people.

What I would like to suggest though, is choose carefully what toys you buy for the kids. You don't have to go and spend hundreds of dollars on something, but at the same time, don't simply think a toy you won from a skill tester will do either.
It's also important that you DO NOT wrap the pressents, as the charities will need to know exactly what they're giving the kids. Remember as well to be careful, as most toys aren't actually safe to use for under 12 year olds, which is primarily what we should aim to get toys for.

And PLEASE everybody attending, I know resources are stretched, but putting a little effort into it now, will mean less effort in the future.
