Hmmm if u r keen for it id say go for it... as for having weak this and weak that... mate of mine nathan (Scrud on these forums) has a trbo 1.5l DOHC in his accent...on his last dyno reading he got into the high 160's hp range with a standard box, internals and an LSD... wait till he finishes his rebuild haha!!! Anywayz it is something different and i too want to turbo my excel.. would be fun! |

wat about the computer,gear box etc??? but good luck dude... Alot of ppl out their dis the excel due to the fact they are sheep.. I had and excel for a bit shck horror for about a month.. made a fuking exCELlent sound car. Dude i would supercharge it personally and god luck with it dont listen to wat alot of ppl say about them because when u think about it they can beat lancers and mirages hands down they just dont like a car that is typically "riced" |

How come that dyno chart says Hyundai excel twin cam if its meant to be single cam. Personally i think its stupid, everybody knows excels are crap cars, secondly imagine whats gonna happen when you crash the thing, like standing on a coke can, the panels and chassis on those things are thin as. as oppossed to your commodore? please, show me a commodore that has a mod done that is original and i'll be impressed. and they don't stand up too well in accidents either, and if excels are so crap as you said, i'm asuming you think commodores are the bomb? (well i aggree, but for the opposite reason), then tell me why it was so easy for my to beat a VX SS clubsport while driving a $300 mitsubishi scorpion with a stock 2.6 astron 1 motor, and later a ve CV8 straight off the factory(in Elizabethvale, Adelaide) while driving a standard issue KQ laser sedan?........ oh yeah, and by the way, my 98 X3 excel (SOHC 1.5) has completely stomped it's fair share of commodores as well, and it's only got a 2.5 inch exhaust and a pod filter. It just goes to show that it ain't just the car that has to be good, the driver does too. (and most of the drivers that rag on supposed lesser cars are usually the ones that can't drive to save their life) so just go home and give your mum her car keys back and stop big noting yourself. |

why can't a 290kw ford beat a 250 kw holden. extra weight the main thing, and that holden knows how to get the power to the ground better than ford, i'm sure they'll improve though. PLAIN AND SIMPLE TRUTH IS THIS, THE 250 KW HOLDEN IS RUNNING EITHER A NEW DESIGN 350 OR 427 CHEV WITH A SUPERCHARGER IN MOST CASES, WHILE THE 290 KW FALCON IS RUNNING AN UPGRADED 302 WINDSOR, DESIGNED OVER 30 YEARS AGO AND MOST OF THEM DON'T HAVE FORCED INDUCTION, AND IF YOUR REFERRING TO V8 SUPERCARS THEN IT'S EVEN SIMPLER STILL, CAUSE THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME ENGINES AND RACING SUBFRAME WITH THE SEDAN SHELL SLOTED OVER THE TOP REGARDLESS OF IF THEY ARE HOLDEN OR FORD. |

Excels were rated the most unsafe car on the road (when they were new of course) god knows what is now, but at the time, it was excels, they crumple like a paper cup, and yeah, ive seen it happen, on the highway no less, the car got t-boned cause he aqua planed, the side of the car got pushed in to the drivers seat, any other car woulda been pretty bad, but goddamn, not half the car. ok, you show me any car that can survive a highway speed side impact, LOL. by the way i've seen cars that passed crash safety tests with very high scores (according to the people who do the ratings) that have been torn to pieces in lower speed crashes, but you are right to a point, they are weaker in a side impact then a 4 door sedan due to a lack of structural strength that would have been provided by the extra framing. plus they don't really have any side intrusion protection in the doors. but seriously, atleast when you take the panels of an excel you still have the subframe to look at, if you do the same to a lancer there is nothing from about half the width of the engine forward. |
