Just wanna get an idea of what g's you can pull it 10 sec cars compared to stock 15sec cars ect.. any one here know?

Numerically it won't seem like much?? Why do u want to know this???
A 'G' is acceleration of 9.8m/s/s.

In a car acceleration rate is constantly varying, and unless u have supreme traction and loads of powwer, your not likely to see over 1G in acceleration. So the difference between a 10 second car, and a 15 second car feels like a lot, but numerically it may only be 0.5G's vs 0.7G's, at a given speed.

By the way, 9.8m/s/s is about equal to 35km/h/s ( /s = per second)

off the line most 4wd cars (on regular non-drag glue type tyres) on a hard launch can make around 1G or so. my FWD car with half way decent 195 15 tyres pulls around 0.6g maximum before it breaks traction. no matter how "fast" it is, a car will only pull as many G as the traction allows. most RWD cars with good tyres can pull .7-.8 G off the line almost regardless of power. the difference is a big hp car can pull high Gs at high speed (my cordy can make 0.6 G all the way from 0 to about 120kays), where a low powered car can only pull high G at low speed, off the line to 30 kays it might make 0.8 G, but then it might taper off to only 0.2G at 100k/h. A drag car on bags can accelerate VERY hard, top fuelers accelerate at over 5G off the line thanks to gluey tyres. /end long answer.

Then you have -Gs. Which is under brakes. smile.gif

On prestage.com there is a formula that lets you work out g force over the first 60 feet, however it is not entirely accurate as it is an average. In real life it was be stronger at the start but taper off.

Some examples:

60 Foot Time - G Force

Top Fuel 0.85 seconds = 5.16G, at over 150kph! That's average!
Top Doorslammer 1.00 = 3.73G
Pro Stock Bike 1.15 = 2.82G
1.5 seconds = 1.66G
2 seconds = 0.93G
2.5 seconds = 0.6G

you know ur car handles good when u start pulling 0.7-1g going around a corner... thumbsup.gif

r34 gt-r have the Gs you pull in a the dash computer.. saw a video of a guy test driving one... he a trying to throw the G rating off the scale ( and did it powersliding around an airport) can't remeber the Gs tho..

off topic tho... unsure.gif

The GTR video you are talking about Mr Skippleson is made by Jeremy Clarkson from top gear .. it was a 1G cornering load.

I'm pretty sure humans pass out at around 7g, I think, correct me if I'm wrong

Humans can pass out at anywhere between 5-7Gs, that is why they do a test at Nasa to see what G force your body can handle, I think it will go up to 10G, it is the machine that looks like the mattahorn.

Indy cars and F1 cars can pull around 2.5 lateral g force during tight High Speed corners.

Some more physics crap, as said previously that a G force is equivalent to 9.98 Mps = 1 unit of earth gravity. If you jump from a building you will experience 1 G of acceleration until or hit terminal velocity, or the ground.

biggrin.gif I wouldn't have a clue!!! LOL, I sucked at science and anything to do with it!

you actually feel the equivalent of 1G of acceleration when you're sitting still. when you jump off the building you accelerate at 1G, but experience nothing as the force is escerted on every part of you equally. where in a car you feel the acceleration on your back, and feel yourself being "squashed".

as per earlier, if your car can corner at over 1G it doesn't mean it handles well. those big HSV things can corner at over 1G inspite of handling like garden sheds.
