I have recently built a new dump pipe /w screamer on my 180SX. The only other mods to the car are a full 3" exhaust and a cold air setup. Nothing else is touched including the boost The problem I'm having now is if I have the car in say 2nd (for this example) and have the throttle at about 3/4 open just before the wastegate opens the car starts to stutter just as if I were on the rev limitter but this happens at about 4500rpm and will contine to do this but if I floor it the rest of the way the wastegate opens and all is back to normal untill the next gear. Its running fine otherwise. I'm guessing this is a boost cut from the ECU and even though I haven't touched the boost the fact the exhaust is more free flowing now espically with the new dump pipe that it may be making enough extra boost to set of the boost cut. Also its an auto and I know that soarers are known to do this same thing before shifting to protect the gearbox.... I'm not too concerned but was just seeing if anyone had any suggestions or has had the same problem. And please only genuine suggestions if you have no idea don't bother. hmm correct me if i'm wrong... but dont u get a natural boost increase when u increase air flow and exhaust flow... i'm sure i've read that in zoom many times... where simple flow upgrades = boost upgrade... therefore u might find you are getting more boost than before into the manifold and its seeing there is excess boost so it vents via the wastegate... |

boost cut on those cars is not so much a psi reading as a volumetric airflow reading, i.e if the airflow exceeds a preset level the computer will interrupt the party(usually around 13-15psi on these cars but can vary), you'll probably find that this is your problem due to the car breathing better & you need a computer mod or mods to your afm/map sensor signals to fix this..... |

That right and I think that goes for most nissans from what I've read. Thanks for everyones ideas and I'd pretty much come to the same conclusion....I would like to stay away from a FCD if possible and I do need to get off my ass and get a boost guage  But its not really bothering me atm |
