Got a swift Gti turbo!! Was up the coast the other day and on the way back cracked the radiator, therfore no coolant runnign through the engine. engine obviously overheated as i didn't realise the heat gauge rise, so to cut a huge story short, got a tow truck to get my back to brisbane. i replaced the radiator and got the head inspeacted through preessure tests and vissability tests. no damage there, but now my turbo is only running like 6pounds. i usually run it at 12psi with no worries at all, but after putting the radiator in it only seems to go to 6psi in 1st and 2nd, and reaches like 9ish psi in 3rd and 4th. any ideas??? have i bumped an electronice boost controller when putting the radiator in, or is there a pressure seal crack or wat??? i'm goign to take it to a shop, any good ones that you would recomend??? how bout team driftkings??

You could have bumped your controller puttin the radiator in. Just double check your settings. The people who inspected it might have changed the settings. I wouldn't recommend driftking. Go to APC or bob remano or something. Driftking aren't that reliable. |

I thought about that too... but, the thing is... if the actuator or hoses are cracked/loose... then not much air would be getting to the wastegate or alternatively it wouldn't open at all due to a cracked actuator... |

Yea, I just had 2nd thoughts....the boost would stay at a similar level if it was leaking out of the actuator piping. However, if the actuator was leaking so much, there would be an enormous supply of boost ontap. That's how I used to run my Charade turbo...23psi of screaming boost, ripping the mains apart. Those were the days. |

Hate to be negative but it has to be said, you may have actually overheated the turbo (if it was a watercooled unit in mediocre condition) & stuffed the seals/bearings so that it CANT run more boost than you are seeing on the gauge now......but thats by no means definate, just a possibility..... |

so last night, thurs nite, went on the boostcruising cruise startoing ath hypermarket and so on, got about as far as windsor maccas and then had a run with a GSR. i was in 1st at the lights, beat him to 2nd then droped it into second and NOTHING!!! LOST ALL BOOST AND POWER. it was still only running like 6psi all night instead of the originall 12pounds, and then sudsdenly get nothing. |

wouldn't take it to drift wood as there are alot of bad stories from them, well the aspley one atleast, and APC are a bunch of tools, and thats from my own personal experience, Charlies motors seems to be a good place, so far i've had no problems with their work. |

U beat a GSR in 1st hey? was it stock? or was he just not trying? those things have excellent gearing for off the line launches. I haven't seen any 2WD cars beat a GSR off the line if the GSR launches properley. |

for all thats interested, when one of the wires fell out of the electronic boost controller it hit the earth and shorted the coil in the controller and inturn one of the transisters things in the computer shit itself, so i had to get a new controller and gettin a new peice soldered into the link computer. thanks heaps to lance at albion SUZISPORT!!! so now i'm running 12PSI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!still with very little traction! |
