Darwin award nominee. QUOTE Teen dies in hospital after allegedly evading police and crashing stolen ute on the Gold Coast
Officers had been tracking the ute, which was stolen from the carpark of an Oxenford theme park a short time earlier. The Ethical Standards Command was investigating the circumstances of the crash. Police said the teenager was part of a group broke into a Maudsland home earlier that morning, before taking off in a car with stolen registration plates. The group allegedly evaded police, before they dumped the car at Oxenford and fled into bushland. Police said two boys then stole the ute and drove dangerously towards Southport, where they crashed at the intersection of Queen and Nerang streets. Mr Dreier was taken to the hospital with critical injuries but died overnight. A social media tribute posted by his girlfriend said: "Thank you for being the light of my life even on your bad days". "I'm so sorry this had to be our goodbye." A 17-year-old passenger, who suffered minor injuries, has been charged with break and enter, burglary and possession of dangerous drugs. |

No doubt the work of a CIA operative like Chernobyl. QUOTE Russia rocket explosion kills five and injures three during engine test at site
A rocket explosion at a Russian arms depot has left five people dead and three injured, state nuclear corporation Rosatom confirmed. The blast happened during tests on a liquid propellant rocket engine in the Nyonska test range on early Saturday, reported the RIA news agency. Rosatom said the injured workers sustained various degrees of burns at the accident and had been taken to special facilities for medical treatment. The latest blast comes after a radiation leak which killed two people and injured six more - which could have been triggered during tests of Vladmir Putin's 6,000mph hypersonic missile. A nearby city had reported a rise in radiation levels 20 times above the normal level. Authorities said they had been forced to shut down part of a bay in the White Sea to shipping as a result. Local residents have been stocking up iodine used to reduce the effects of radiation exposure after the accident, regional media have reported. Russia's Ministry of Defence has given few details of the accident. Although the defence ministry initially said that no harmful chemicals were released into the atmosphere and that radiation levels were unchanged, authorities in the nearby city of Severodvinsk reported what they described as a brief spike in radiation. No official explanation has been given for why such an accident would cause radiation to spike. The radiation statement put out by the city of Severodvinsk disappeared from the Internet on Friday without explanation. An unidentified naval officer quoted by the Kommersant newspaper said the accident could have occurred at a testing site at sea and that the explosion of a rocket could have caused a toxic fuel spill. Russia media have said that the rocket engine explosion may have occurred at a weapons testing area near the village of Nyonoksa. Those reports say an area near Nyonoksa is used for tests on weapons, including ballistic and cruise missiles that are used by the Russian navy. Greenpeace has cited data from the Emergencies Ministry that it said showed radiation levels had risen 20 times above the normal level in Severodvinsk around 30 kilometres (18 miles) from Nyonoksa. |

I swear, you just can't make this shit up. QUOTE Woman's bizarre response when police found meth in body cavity search
Police in Louisiana say they found meth when they did a body cavity search on woman who claimed the drug wasn’t hers and she didn’t know how it got there. The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Ashley Rolland was arrested July 31 on a felony theft charge and possession of a controlled dangerous substance after a man she had been staying with for about a week complained she took about $5,000 off his dresser and left. Authorities say a female correctional officer found, $6,233 ($A9,183) along with “a clear plastic bag” of roughly 1 gram of methamphetamine in the woman’s vagina. Rolland said it wasn’t hers and she didn’t know where it came from. Bond was set at $US8,000. Jail records don’t indicate if she has a lawyer. |
