I used to overlook this area from my office and always liked the style of that place, so thanks for sharing the inside, no doubt it will set some real estate records when it goes up for sale. Who was the original owner/builder? it must have been someone of significant important back in the day.

Angry dad storms out of court, refuses to take ice addict son home after Gold Coast bail hearing
Ben Brennan - Yahoo7 News on August 10, 2016, 2:40 pm

A fed up father may has put a dent in his ice-addict son’s plea for bail on the Gold Coast, storming out of the court when the teenager begged a judge to set him free.

Kalib Reynolds, 17, is in custody in Queensland accused of snatching a bag from a 79-year-old woman, leaving her shaken and bruised.

He allegedly pulled alongside the woman in a stolen car on Sunday before ripping the bag from her grip, The Gold Coast Bulletin reports.

The charge is one of 21 the drug addicted boy is facing.

In court on Monday, Reynolds begged Magistrate Jacqueline Payne to set him free.

“I’ll do anything to get out of the watchouse... I need to walk out of court,” he pleaded in Southport Magistrates Court.

But his worn out father was having none of it, shouting “No he won’t” to the bench before storming out of the building.

The Magistrate appeared to understand the father’s frustration.

“His father is probably heartbroken — at his wit’s end and doesn’t know what to do next,” she said.

“Good intentions at this stage are not enough.”

Reynolds remains in custody but the court heard he had been offered a job in a kitchen, and that the evidence against him was circumstantial.

His bail hearing has been adjourned until Friday when the court expects to see details of his employment.

Reynolds faces 21 charges including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, six counts of stealing as well as four counts of robbery with actual violence.

He was arrested at Labrador on Sunday, shortly after the alleged attack on the 79-year-old woman.

The stolen bag was allegedly found near Reynolds.

Nice bit of qld history, not worth keeping as long term investment?, it looks like the type of rental for consular officials etc, e.g. someone else paying the bills, anyway, I hope all will work out ok

Not an option unfortunately. My brother and I are the only beneficiaries (and executors) of the estate. We both live internationally (well, he will soon), and wouldn't be able to keep it maintained well enough - it's a massive job. There are other properties as well (including one in Tamworth of all places...!) as well as many other significant assets. We're sorting through the minefield at the moment. Let's just say that there's a fair chance I may be about to become a tax resident of the Caymans...

In half-mile racing, many drivers will tell you that exceeding the 200 mph mark is a phenomenon that is tough to explain, even if you have experienced speeds over 150 mph.

With that in mind, we are wondering how one would go about explaining how it feels to travel at a speed that is more than double the 200 mph mark.

In this one, we check out Danny Thompson as he heads out to Speed Week 2016 for a monster pass in the Challenger II and knocks home an amazing pass.

Check out the video below as a pair of monstrous 500 cu in Hemi engines help push this rocket to just over 411mph to be backed up by a 402 mph pass.

Fans react to Holden Racing Team name shift

News of the Holden Racing Team brand moving from Walkinshaw Racing to Triple Eight from 2017 has fired up the Supercars fanbase.

Social media sprung alive with reaction on Tuesday as fans digested news of the Red Bull Holden Racing Team moniker and Holden’s commitment to homologating a next-generation Commodore.

Many within the sport have expressed relief at Holden’s decision to continue in the category following robust debate within the General Motors outpost over its marketing direction ahead of the impending end of local production.

While speculation that Walkinshaw was set to lose its factory backing had been circling for some time, few had expected the HRT insignia to simply be moved to Triple Eight.

There has been no love lost between the two outfits over the last decade, with their rivalry only increasing since Triple Eight switched to Holden in 2010.

Although Triple Eight’s on track domination of the battle arguably made Holden’s shift in funding focus logical and inevitable, many fans have been critical of the decision.

“This is a bastardisation from Holden Motorsport,” wrote enraged fan Tim Gregory on Speedcafe.com’s Facebook page.
“You can’t just decide to piss away 26 years of history.
“Imagine if Collingwood were sick of not making the top eight so they rebranded Hawthorn to the Magpies. There would be an outrage.”
“To take the iconic HRT name from Walkinshaw and giving it to 888 is a kick in the teeth for the diehard HRT fans,” added another fan, Mark Attard.
“If Holden didn’t want to support that team anymore they should of put the HRT name to bed.”

Another declared the move worse than Ford’s decision to withdraw support from Dick Johnson Racing.
“This is beyond Ford shafting DJR, 90% of die hard Holden fans were HRT (fans),” wrote BJ Morrison. “Poor form I reckon!”
Ryan Walkinshaw’s Twitter account was also flooded with support for his team, which has vowed to continue to race Commodores next season.

Mad Mike Formula Drift Ebisu Circuit

Mad Mike team recap on win at Formula Drift Ebisu, Japan 2016

"Winning at Ebisu was like nothing else, to go door to door with some of my inspirational drift racers out of Japan and take the win was amazing. It was such a team effort, everything came together today, we were focused and on point."

Ebisu is the home of drift for Japan and it's an honour to be competing here against some of the drivers who inspired me, on their home soil.

Kawato san and his team from TCP Magic did a great job preparing the car, it felt super strong and responsive. The RX7 chassis feels like an extension of my body when I drive it, it's a chassis I have been driving since the beginning of my career.

I'm so proud to represent TCP Magic and put them onto the top step of the podium. Huge thanks to Kawato san and his team and also Toni and JT for being a massive part of us being able to accomplish this win.

Arigato Gozaimas to Robbie Nishida, Shane, Andy Gray and everyone else in Osaka, Tokyo and Ebisu who helped out in some way.
