Gotta love family right?.The only person who i ask to help is my dad as he has a lot more patience than me,i typically want to push the bike over and walk away.

Woolworths to exit Masters hardware venture, Wesfarmers buys UK hardware business

In a statement to the stock exchange, the retailer said it would commence an "orderly process" to exit the Masters Home Improvement and Home Timber & Hardware business, by either selling it or shutting it down if no buyer can be found.

Woolworths had attempted to challenge the dominance of the Wesfarmers-owned Bunnings chain by partnering with US hardware giant Lowe's, however its Masters stores were losing a large amount of money.

The decision unravels a strategy to enter home improvement which was driven by chief executive Grant O'Brien who announced his retirement late last year.

The exit process will involve Woolworths buying back a 33.3 percent interest in the venture held by WDR Delaware Corporation, which is a subsidiary of Lowe's Companies.

The anticipated sale comes after a shareholder revolt saw Gordon Cairns appointed as Woolworths chairman and former chief executive Roger Corbett brought back as a special consultant.

Mr Cairns said his top priority as chairman has been to determine the future of the home improvement joint venture.

"Our recent review of operating performance indicates it will take many years for Masters to become profitable. We have determined we cannot continue to sustain ongoing losses from this business," Mr Cairns said in a statement.

"We intend to pursue an orderly prospective sale or wind-up of the business. This enables full ownership of the business by Woolworths in a shorter timeframe and gives us access to the widest range of exit options."

Mr Cairns said the decision to exit the home improvement business will allow the retailer to focus on strengthening the rest of the business.

However, he signalled the process of unravelling the Lowes relationship though the use of "put" and "call" options would be complicated and time consuming.

"Whilst we will move as quickly as possible, the put and call options process will take at least two months to complete and following this a potential sale process or other exit process will take additional time," Mr Cairns cautioned.

"The business will continue to trade through this period. Our top priority is to do the right thing by all stakeholders."

Shareholders appear to approve of the move, with Woolworths defying a steep share market slide to post a 4.8 per cent gain to $23.74 by 11:06am (AEDT).

New pipes for the Busa arrived today,100% titanium and a weight of 1.7kgs each,finally found a set after 2 years of searching eBay globally. Paid $1300 second hand. The money we spend on toys right?

Man i'm in love with the new bike although nothing can beat the out of the box ready Busa for long distances. The busa is seeing more garage time for now as i'm riding the new bike every day of my holidays.

Only mods are the rack and radiator guard,i've got a puig screen and headlight protector on order.

i picked up my new car / new old car

ie 1980 mazda 626 on Friday. i've been out ferreting around in the engine bay all weekend detailing in there, cleaning and pulling parts of and respraying them matt black, cleaning rubbers etc

one of the guards was out of alignment, so i was in the process of undoing bolts / adjusting things - i made the mistake of getting my brother to help asking him to nip up a bolt to hold things in place while i pushed the guard into place and held it. what does he do......over tightens the nut and snap. it's about this time i start thinking uncharitable thoughts concerning his helpfulness.....i ask him to go next door and ask our neighbour to see if they have an easy out or tap. he just stands there being stupid, i repeat myself, he continues standing there. so fcuk it, i'm already pissed off - i go next door and ask myself - it's better than unleashing on him - i've got to live with him after all.........

so the easy out doesn't work, and the tap he has is too big, so i'll be off to Bunnings tomorrow to buy one / or a kit myself. what ever's cheapest.....



i'll take a bolt with me to determine the size / pitch. Bunnings sell a set of three metric taps for $10 or so, hopefully one of them will be the right size.

So did you end up getting the car from Tassie,or did you find another,because,I thought you said it sold ?
Did he snap the head of the bolt off,because if he did,and the bolt protrudes through the nut,enough (and of course enough room),you can grab it with vice grips,and screw it all the way through.Doesn't hurt to run a tap through them,and a smidgen of Anti-Seize as well,I find

So you wouldn't have bought them,just because they are light,....nicer exhaust note,and,or improved performance,or all of the above?

For the Love of Spock! Leonard Nimoy Documentary Surpasses Kickstarter Goal

A documentary commemorating the life of Leonard Nimoy and his iconic "Star Trek" character, Spock, will likely require more funding after exceeding its Kickstarter goal, the film's director says.

Nimoy's son, Adam Nimoy, began working on the film project, called "For the Love of Spock," in November 2014 in consultation with his father, who died in February at age 83. The Kickstarter campaign went live this summer and concluded last month with $662,000 in funding, easily surpassing its goal of $600,000.

The younger Nimoy has been busy preparing plans to film the documentary at conventions and other events. But although the money is appreciated, it can only go so far. [The Evolution of Star Trek (Infographic)]

Nimoy said he wants to add visual effects and get the rights to more of his father's extensive catalog of films, theater performances and other productions. Although he's considering another fundraising campaign following the successful crowdfunding campaigns for fan productions such as "Star Trek: Axanar," he said the time it takes to run those campaigns also takes time away from producing the film.

"We're trying to reach higher and do a first-class film — $600,000 is not that much money," he told Space.com. "We're budgeting as tightly as we can and looking for other sources to finance."

Logical emotion

The upcoming 50th anniversary of the original airdate of "Star Trek" on Sept. 8, 1966 helped inspire the younger Nimoy to make the film. His father famously portrayed a half-alien species called Vulcan, which was prided for its scientific work and logical thinking. But the other half of Spock's heritage was human, allowing for the occasional burst of emotion.

Leonard Nimoy is widely credited with the invention of the famous "Vulcan neck pinch" to subdue enemies, as well as the Vulcan salute, often used with the phrase, "Live long and prosper." Spock was Leonard Nimoy's first large role and the one he was best known for, even as the actor expanded to roles in television (such as in "Mission: Impossible"), film and theater.

When the elder Nimoy spoke with his son Adam about the documentary, he asked him not to focus on star personality conflicts related to "Star Trek." Instead, Nimoy wanted to continue to clarify the misconception resulting from the mistitling of his 1975 autobiography, "I Am Not Spock" (Buccaneer Books). (The title had led to the perception that he did not want to be associated with Spock, but the actor was actually trying to emphasize his focus on new roles in addition to Spock.)

"He was very, very busy during the 'Star Trek' years and the decades that followed, trying to ride the wave of popularity to find new ways to keep working — which was his passion," Adam Nimoy said. "He was a workaholic, my dad. It was interesting to see all the different stuff that he did."

Passing the torch

Hollywood rebooted the "Star Trek" franchise in 2009 with a new set of films in which Spock was played by Zachary Quinto. Quinto and Leonard Nimoy ended up becoming friends, and even filmed a car commercial together in which the actors traded barbs and "Star Trek" jokes while racing to a golf course.

As part of the work for the documentary, Adam Nimoy will go to Vancouver to talk with some people associated with the latest "Star Trek" film, which is being filmed now. Quinto will narrate the documentary, which is expected to be ready for distribution in January if all goes according to schedule.

In the coming months, Nimoy plans to interview fans at conventions and do as much film production as he can simultaneously with the collection phase. The production company is 455 Films, which previously did "Star Trek"-related work with Leonard Nimoy's co-star William Shatner (Capt. James T. Kirk in the original series.)

"We did raise a lot of money, and that is going to take us a very long way," Adam Nimoy said. "We're going to have a film. We know we can make a film. But we know from "[Star Trek]: Axanar" that the more money they raise, the more we can add to make it a better film."

I bought them because they suited the lines of the bike and have a different exhaust note compared to others,its a bonus that there isn't many around so i can still make a good investment if i choose to sell. Yeah Busa will be long trips or taking the partner on the back,doesn't help that the paint is immaculate and since the pipes are rare,i didn't want to ride it all the time.

550km's so far on the new bike and loving it,chased a Triumph Street Triple over Glorious/Nebo today and never lost an ounce of confidence whilst doing so. Unfortunately the limiter kept cutting in at 5500rpm as i'm running it in.

got a car locally, was on gumtree for 3,250. picked it up for $2,500. probably paid a bit too much for it - the paints not nearly as good as i'd have hoped, but meh. it's relatively straight and good original condition with only minor accident damage over it's lifetime ie no bad hits. it'll need a full respray in a few years, but it's good enough to putt around in whilst i get the mechanical work done and hunt for parts.

thats super clean and original. Is it manual? I hope I can find a clean example like that of my childhood car.

Ahh these newbies in the gym taking up the bench rack. Like seriouesly 30 mins of bench is way overkill.

Paint looks good in the photos,that's why I was asking if it was a five metre model,actually,the whole vehicle looks tidy enough to kick that f'king Lancer out of the shed,and park it there.

It feels like your dragging a wall behind you,its to stop idiots valve bouncing then complaining that the engine shit itself and yeah,they change it to 10,500rpm until 1600kms then its good to go after that.

Even with the limiter in place at the moment,god you can get in trouble for the first 3 gears.

Glenn Frey, Eagles Guitarist, Dies at 67

Glenn Frey, singer, songwriter, guitarist and a founding member of the Eagles, died Monday. He was 67.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016,” the band said in a statement. “Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia. The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery. Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.”

Frey wrote and provided vocals for many of the Eagles’ biggest hits hits, including “Heartache Tonight,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “Tequila Sunrise” and “Take It Easy.”

The musician, with Don Henley, also co-wrote “Hotel California” and “Desperado.” The Eagles won six Grammys and five American Music Awards during its run, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Thought the Eagles were scheduled to be feted at last December’s Kennedy Center Honors, the band postponed on account of Frey’s health.
