Essendon players found guilty, will miss 2016 season

The Court for Administration of Sport (CAS) has found 34 Essendon players guilty of taking prohibited substances as part of the club’s 2012 supplements program.

The players are reportedly set to miss the entire 2016 AFL season. Of the 34 players charged, 17 are still in the AFL – 12 at Essendon, and five at other clubs.

The 12 players still on the list at Essendon are Jobe Watson, Brent Stanton, Cale Hooker, David Myers, Michael Hurley, Michael Hibberd, Tayte Pears, Tom Bellchambers, Travis Colyer, Dyson Heppell, Ben Howlett and Heath Hocking.

The five players now at other clubs are Jake Carlisle (St Kilda), Angus Monfries and Paddy Ryder (Port Adelaide), Stewart Crameri (Western Bulldogs) and Jake Melksham (Melbourne).

Essendon confirmed the news today with a short statement from chairman Lindsay Tanner released on the club website:

“Regrettably we can confirm the Court of Arbitration for Sport has found 34 past and present players guilty of committing an anti-doping rule violation.

“As a result, the players – including 12 currently listed with Essendon – have been suspended for the 2016 season. The Club is currently digesting the decision and we will provide a further update later today.”

El Chapo Pulls A Hat Trick – Escapes Prison For The Third Time

The story of El Chapo becomes more and more like a big budget action film with each day that passes. We have recently learned that El Chapo was caught due to him wanting to make a movie about himself and was interviewing actors and producers for the job. When he was caught earlier this week El Chapo’s camp caught wind the Mexican government planned to extradite the notorious prison escapee to the United States, where he faces drug trafficking charges connected to his cartel.

The criminal organization is known for having penetrated deep into the Mexican Law Enforcement and claims to have politicians in their pocket. It couldn’t have been more apparent when they organized he be put into the same prison in which he had just escaped from. When you see the room they put him in with a luxurious bathtub you will laugh. This is Pablo Escobar all over again.

While on the run for the past six months, no one bothered to destroy the tunnels that had been engineered for the crime bosses first escape. We are waiting on the video footage to be released but the Mexican authorities said that the same tunnel system that was used for the first escape were utilized for this escape as well.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Confirmed to Unite the Marvel Universe to Battle Thanos

A lot of Marvel fans have been wondering if the characters in Guardians of the Galaxy would be included in the story for Avengers: Infinity War. This is a subject matter that James Gunn has been very quite about, and Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo won’t really give a straight answer either, but they did give a very interesting hintduring an interview with ComicBook.com.

The directing duo was asked if they have had any discussions with Marvel about bringing the Guardians heroes into Infinity War, Joe said:

“That is another one that we would have to reserve as a surprise, but we will say this: People will not be disappointed in the amount of characters in the movie. The concept of Infinity War is that the Marvel universe unites to battle the greatest threat to the world and universe that you’ve ever seen, and we’re going to honor that concept.”
It's great to hear that the Marvel universe will unite in this movie! The way that he’s talking here, it sounds to me like there’s a strong possibility we could not only see the Guardians show up to help fight the threat of Thanos, but this could this also mean that we might see the characters from the Marvel Netflix series' as well, such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Punisher? I hope so! That would be just as exciting! The fact that he says he wants to reserve this for a surprise is kind of another hint. If these characters aren’t in it, why just not say no!? Saying no wouldn’t spoil any surprises, but saying yes would!

Joe went on to talk about taking Avengers: Infinity War to a more cosmic place than the Avengers have ever been before. This movie won’t be as grounded as the Captain America films they have made, but is will have a “psychological realism":

“Yeah, we certainly have. I sat in the theater and watched Empire Strikes Back seven times in a row when I was a kid. Yeah, we're science fiction fans as well, Dungeons and Dragons. We collected all the books when we were kids. We had figurines. Anything that you could think of that has to do with fantasy or sci-fi or superheroes was in our universe. We're just going to approach the cosmic side with the same fervor that we did the earthbound work we've been doing. We also are going to work really hard to bring a psychological realism. We obviously can't bring a naturalism to it because it doesn't really exist outside of science fiction, but we can bring that psychological realism to it, to the characters, and that's going to be our focus.
"Also, it's going to be our focus to explore the cosmic side, applying the same rules that we like to apply to the last two films that we've done. It ends up being the rules of physics always apply or apply as much as we can get them to apply based on what we're doing.”
Sounds to me like they are building up to something freakin’ epic! I can’t wait to see what it is!

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is set to be released in movie theaters on May 4th, 2018, and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on May 3rd, 2019.

Holy golden anniversary, 'Batman'! Classic TV show turns 50

(CNN)The phenomenon began January 12, 1966.

That night, ABC premiered the TV series "Batman," a very campy take on the comic book character, complete with our caped hero doing a dance called the "Batusi." It was, almost literally, an overnight success.

Suddenly, the American public was clamoring for anything and everything Batman, launching one of the earliest merchandising blitzes for a TV show, described as "Batmania." It aired twice a week, on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and both episodes made the top 10 most-watched shows of the 1965-66 season.

No longer were Batman and Robin just those two heroes who occasionally helped out Superman. On the brink of cancellation just two years earlier, suddenly the DC Comics characters were the hottest thing going. (DC and CNN are both owned by Time Warner.)

The actors who played Batman and Robin, Adam West and Burt Ward, drew big crowds at their personal appearances, and 20th Century Fox rushed out a feature film for that summer.

The "ZAP! BANG! POW!" of the dynamic duo's fights with each week's "Special Guest Villain" became embedded in pop culture.

West and Ward portrayed the masked crimefighters earnestly. Their performances made the show an action series for children and a silly comedy for adults.

The show's fall came as quickly as its rise. In March 1968, ABC canceled the show. NBC was reportedly ready to pick it up, but the sets -- which cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to build -- had been destroyed, said Ward, now 70.

Still, the show lived on in reruns and remains a '60s touchstone.

Ward -- then a novice actor, now owner of Gentle Giants Animal Rescue -- had no idea what he was getting into, he told CNN. The following is an edited version of the interview.

How he landed the part of Robin
Burt Ward: I did some scenes as (Robin's alter ego) Dick Grayson. Then they told me I have one more thing to do: "Go in the dressing room, and there's a couple of men in there to help you get dressed." I told them, "I'm perfectly capable of dressing myself." I went in there, and from seeing the costume, I asked, "Is this some kind of period piece?" I looked at the dialogue, and it said "Bruce and Dick." It could have been anybody.

I put on this costume, and it's the most uncomfortable thing I've worn in my entire life.

I still had no idea what it was. Where I grew up, they didn't have Batman comics; they had Superman comics.

I would get calls every eight or 10 days, asking my head size and my neck size, and all these strange questions. I was later asked to sign a contract. I asked, "Am I signing an agency contract?" They said "No, no, no, you've got the role." And I said, "Well, I didn't know that!"

On seeing the show for the first time
Ward: I remember sitting in my little apartment with a little television. I had not seen it put together in any form whatsoever -- and I watched it and thought, "Gee, this is really good."

And apparently the rest of North America thought so. The next day, the rating was a 52 share. So 52% of TVs that were on were watching "Batman." Pretty spectacular.

On his enthusiastic persona
Ward: The producers thought if there really was a Robin, that would be me, due to my nature. They didn't want any "acting"; they wanted me to be myself.

I loved the line "Gosh, Batman, there's three of them versus two of us. Odds in our favor."

On his relationship with Adam West
Ward: We got along great. We'd go on personal appearances, and at night, we'd party and stuff like that. We were always good friends. We're great friends today!

On the dangers of playing Robin
Ward: There were a couple of problems. To be honest with you, with the mask, you'd have no peripheral vision.

And it was a very dangerous show to do. I was at the hospital four of the first five days, from third-degree burns to explosions to fires and crashes, and 2-by-4s landing on my head. I wasn't sure I was going to survive the first episode!

On the guest performers
Ward: There were so many demands for actors to be on that show, so they created that "walking up the wall" thing. Every major star, their kids wanted them to be on that show. You could only have one guest star a week.

Every one of the (guest villains) was a treat. I was like a kid in a candy store. These were people I looked up to growing up. Victor Buono as King Tut, Vincent Price, who played Egghead, my gosh. They were amazing people, phenomenal people! Just so nice.

On the show's staying power
Ward: I'll see a family come up (at a personal appearance), and when they get in front of me, the parents become like children again, talking to me like kids.

The father of two was gunned down outside Leichhardt Marketplace in August 2014.

Police suspect Fenech may know more about it but he allegedly isn't cooperating with the Crime Commission hearing into the case.

Yesterday he was issued with a court attendance notice.

Fenech has been charged with stalk/harass/intimidate a law enforcement officer and disrupt a hearing before the commission.

Cadbury Faces $9 Million Sales Slump After Changing Creme Egg Formula

A year after Cadbury changed the recipe for its beloved Creme Eggs — replacing Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate with cheaper cocoa mix, plus changing the standard six-egg order to five — the U.K. chocolate maker is facing the financial repercussions of its decision to ruin England’s collective Easter.
Americans, unfortunately, have been getting a powdered milk version for years.

According market research firm IRI, Cadbury is facing a £6 million (approximately $8.7 million USD) slump in sales of the once popular Creme Egg, as chocolate lovers find the disappointment at the heart of the Egg.

The new Cadbury Creme Eggs which now come in a five-egg order.

Total sales of all Cadbury-branded Easter eggs fell £10 million (approximately $14.5 million).

So far, Cadbury has not acknowledged the link between the unpopular formula change and its poor chocolate sales over the last year, with one representative telling trade magazine The Grocer that “the fundamentals of Cadbury Creme Egg remain exactly the same.”

This Easter, Cadbury’s claims will be put to the test when Mars introduces Galaxy Golden Eggs, and Ferraro releases a version of the Kinder Joy egg with chocolate in one side of the egg and a toy in the other.

Joe Oshaugnessy, a militiaman from Arizona, is the point-person for trying to recruit people to join their cause.
But his friends tearfully announced that Oshaugnessy, who is known as “Capt. O,” had left the refuge Wednesday and was instead staying at a motel nearby as some others associated with the militants have apparently been doing, according to sources.

What was he doing at that hotel? Hitting the bottle with funds raised from online supporters, as a good patriotic militiaman does.

About time the NSW Government did something constructive, and I hope this move sets a precedent for the other states to follow suit.As stated in that clip, the majority of vehicles with Historic, and Club plates are mechanically in better condition than a lot of the newer daily drivers you see on the roads,so if this gives the owners a greater opportunity to enjoy, and use their vehicles,as they were intended,it's a great thing. It annoys me that you only see some of these immaculate vehicles, when the School Formals are on,or you are lucky enough to come across a Club run.So Alpha,if they introduce these new measures in QLD,you'll have to start lobbying for more Servo's provoke.gif laugh.gif

The Collectors: 200 dusty classic cars found in a barn

Most of us have seen that wonderful internet fairy story about a couple who bought a farm in Portugal, complete with a mysterious and securely padlocked barn. The story goes that once the locks were cut off the couple found themselves gaping at a veritable treasure trove of classic cars — all of them liberally covered in dust, but intact. It was the stuff we all dream of but, alas, it was apparently all a computer-generated hoax. It’s not the only story running along those lines that’s gone viral on the internet, and it’s hard to know what to believe in these days of Photoshop image manipulation. However, forget about the hoaxes — here’s the ‘real thing’ — and, rest assured, there’s no computer enhancement when it comes to this Waikato collection of just over 200 cars.

Captain Vauxhall
The owner of this amazing gathering of classic cars, Peter Markham, bought a former chicken farm in 2002 and started building up his collection of cars in 2004. Mind you, even then he was no stranger to car collecting — back in 1991, he owned a grand total of 75 PA Vauxhalls. His property at that time was known as Peter’s PA Paradise, earning him the nickname of Captain Vauxhall.

Peter’s current collection is much more eclectic. Brands residing in his sheds include representatives from British marques such as Austin, Morris, MG, Wolseley, Riley, Vauxhall, Hillman, Humber, Singer, Sunbeam, Vanden Plas, and Ford. While the majority of Peter’s cars are British, there’s a smattering of Japanese cars, plus one lone American. Keeping true to Peter’s nickname, Vauxhall PAs in their various incarnations are probably still the most common model within his collection, although Morris Minors and BMC 1100/1300s must come close.

Most of the cars are still within our registration system, although keeping their licences on hold is a time-consuming job. Peter knows each of his cars individually — he can tell you how and where he acquired just about all of them. Some have interesting stories, as you would expect, while several, although they might be run-of-the-mill models, are unusual. For example, the FB model Vauxhall VX4/90 is rare enough, but there can’t be a car much rarer in this country than a left-hand drive example.

Art Union Singer
Checking out a few individual cars within Peter’s collection, I learn that a very tidy-looking Singer Vogue estate was bought by a Kiwi couple who won the Art Union — the national lottery that was the forerunner of the Golden Kiwi. That, of course, eventually morphed into Lotto. That couple travelled to the UK and bought the Vogue whilst there, later bringing it back to New Zealand. They returned to the UK two years later and visited the same dealer, who had been saddled with a set of Cosmic alloy wheels a customer had ordered and then refused to buy. The New Zealand couple bought the wheels, and had them shipped home to fit to their Vogue.

Today, under a light coating of dust, the Singer has a rust-free body — although it’s the car’s interior that really stands out. It is truly in that overused ‘as new’ condition. Quite simply, there’s not a mark on it, and the polished wood trim retains its new sheen.

A surprising number of Peter’s cars have interiors very much in a similar condition to that of the Vogue estate. A fairly early Sunbeam Rapier, several of the BMC 1100/1300s, and some others have interiors that have clearly been well looked after over the years, and haven’t seen much use. Peter pointed out that the Vauxhall Victors, for example, must have been trimmed in good-quality vinyl, because, 50 years on, it’s still in good condition and supple.

One lady owner
A Ford Escort Mark II was a common car in its day, even the upmarket 1.6-litre Ghia model. However, what makes Peter’s example so special is that it has covered just 12,600 kilometres. He is only the second owner, the Escort’s first being a lady who used it to go to the supermarket, church, and her cards group — and, presumably, to get a regular warrant of fitness. Otherwise, the car didn’t go anywhere. Peter also has a one-lady-owner Morris Minor, while a Nissan 300Z is two-owner car. The bright yellow Chrysler Hunter within his collection had one owner before him, and Peter believes it to be the last example off the Todd Motors production line.

A pair of Ford Cortinas was once owned by one couple — both Mk1 models — a wagon for him and a saloon for her. Peter bought them as a set. Another Ford in the collection is a black Consul Mk1 — another one-owner vehicle when Peter bought it.

A Hillman Super Minx, in white with a broad red stripe along the side, came from Christchurch, where it was used as the Linwood Fire Station’s rapid response unit. Peter can’t say that without laughing, but at the time the Minx was probably considered to be relatively rapid.

Despite the strong British flavour of his collection, Peter’s car-owning past has been quite varied. Back in his young days, he owned a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette for a while — the rare and very desirable split-window model. This was just one of several collectable, and now valuable, cars that have passed through his hands over the years.

Most of Peter’s cars are in long-term storage, disturbed only occasionally when he wants to get a particular one out. With them parked bumper to bumper in long lines that seemingly disappear into the distance, extracting one can take most of a day. While the cars may be covered in dust, they are dry. Peter also has a ‘death row’ section, comprising mostly parts cars, sitting in a shed that is awaiting roof repairs.

Mind you, even the worst cars have potential in Peter’s eyes. Some would say he must be looking through a pair of very rose-tinted spectacles when he sees a dirt-covered car and assesses the work required to return it to the road, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Such enthusiasm is infectious, and it’s easy to imagine taking one of these dirty, uncut diamonds and turning it into a sparkling beauty.

Hot wheels
With so many original-condition cars stored away, it’s a bit surprising that Peter isn’t a stickler for originality, especially when it comes to wheels. A recent acquisition is a 1962 Vauxhall PA Cresta fitted with a set of 100-spoke wheels — not everybody’s cup of tea, although I think the wheels turn a smart-looking car into a real head-turner. The wheels and tyres fill the wheel arches perfectly, giving the Cresta a sporty stance.

Several cars have modern wheels, and they’ll also polarize opinions within classic-car circles. Peter’s FC model Vauxhall VX4/90 and a Singer Vogue have been fitted with large-diameter modern wheels, as was the Series V Humber 80 that Peter has almost finished rebuilding to his own taste. The Hillman Minx Series V has always been relatively common in New Zealand, but the Humber is a particularly rare one — it’s the only example Peter has seen.

Peter does most of the work on his cars. A cabinet maker and machinist/polisher by trade, he’s had 30 years as a self-taught mechanic, panel beater, and painter. He hasn’t done a lot of upholstery work, but feels he should be doing more of that as well.

A time to buy, a time to sell
The best news for car enthusiasts is that most of Peter’s cars can be purchased. While there are some that he won’t part with, he would like to downsize his collection, as he knows very well that he has enough projects for several lifetimes — he reckons that it’s time for others to enjoy some of these classic cars. A few have already gone, while a couple have names on them.

At the time of my visit, the Series III Rapier had been sold to a Taranaki enthusiast, and was awaiting extraction from its resting place. Several others might be heading to the same region. Peter’s not interested in tyre kickers, but if a car in the photographs grabs your attention, or you genuinely want a British project car (or two, or …), he's open to hearing from you.

Some great old cars stored there, that bought back memories!Funny, there must be a thing with chook farms, and storing multiple vehicles.I saw a video a few weeks back of a bloke who had shitloads of Aussie Muscle Cars stored in an old chicken farm in Qld,it was touted as a Barn Find, but one of the comments said Bullshit,it's a Museum.I went looking, and found a different video, this one is from the bloke that owns them, and from what he said at the end (it's near Brisbane Airport),so you probably know of it.He certainly has a nice collection, and funnily enough the two Barn Find vids come up at the end....f'king Shannons
