Yes Holiday view at Moreton Island, looking back to my place, it is a bitch there are no hills like on Moreton at Bribie. Tangalooma is a great place to visit snorkel the wrecks etc, we were very lucky on Boxing day, the water was crystal clear, so i burleyed up the tarwhine and whiting and we had a Dolphin feeding right between the kids and friends, fn magic an no need to pay the stupid robotic dolphin feeding crap they pull each night, they are the same dolphins that scab off the crab pots etc, so they don't mind people.
Even for a day trip with a lunchtime low tide, just take the ferry from brisvegas, drift down to the wrecks, snorkle till the tide turns, drift back, have a beer catch the ferry back, like a poor mans reef experience, take heaps of scraps the fish go batshit crazy.

ABOUT 200 people spent part of the night stranded in Moreton Bay after Stradbroke Ferries' Big Red Cat car barge ran aground in gale-force winds whipping Dunwich on Monday afternoon.
Passengers on the barge said they felt a jolt as the boat hit a sand bar and came to a grinding halt just after 3.50pm.
They said strong winds forced the boat off its course, stranding it about 300 metre off shore.
Wind gauges off nearby Peel Island recorded speeds of up to 53.5km/h at 3.50pm, not as fierce as the 77.8km/h that buffeted the island on December 10, or the 92.5km/h recorded on January 27, 2013 during Cyclone Oswald.
The boat ran aground just before the low tide of 53 centimetres, one of the lowest low tides of the year.
Those on board watched as Straddie Ferries staff tried to tug the large catamaran off the bank using a small water taxi, but the cables kept breaking.
The ferry was refloated after about three hours on high tide, the ABC reported on Tuesday morning.

It would cost $900bn of real money to rescue Matt Damon in all his movies

Matt Damon might be an actor in fictional Hollywood movies but were his characters real, it would have cost a ridiculous sum of money to rescue them from all the remote places they end up in.

From the Mars mission in The Martian to the Earth evacuation in Titan A.E, Quora user Kynan Eng has calculated that more than $900 billion has already been spent “attempting to bring Matt Damon back” from “extended business trips”.

Here is his estimated breakdown using 2015 currency:

Courage Under Fire, Gulf War I helicopter rescue - $300K

Saving Private Ryan, World War II Europe search party - $100K

Titan A.E, Earth evacuation spaceship - $200m

Syriana, Middle East private security return flight - $50K

Green Zone, US Army transport from Middle East - $50K

Elysium, space station security deployment and damages - $100m

Interstellar, Interstellar spaceship - $500bn

The Martian, Mars mission - $200bn

The total budget for the above movies was $729 million, just 0.1 per cent of the “real” cost of actually sending Damon on the trips. The Bourne movies are not included because Damon “does lots of travel at his own expense” and the “people looking for him don’t seem to be very concerned about his safety”.

Here’s hoping 2016 will see Damon keep his feet firmly on the ground, doing something like talking about the meaning of life with Robin Williams on a bench, rather than costing humanity nearly a trillion dollars.

Witcher 3 mod lets you play as Triss, Yennifer, Ciri, or Shani

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is all about the White Wolf, Geralt of Rivia. But what if you want to undertake his down-and-dirty adventures as someone else—specifically, as a woman? Now you can, to an extent, thanks to a mod that lets you replace the G-Man with Triss, Yennifer, Ciri, or Shani.

It's not a perfect transition, or even complete: The mod doesn't work with the Nilfgaardian, Temerian, or Skelligian DLC armor sets, and it uses Geralt's animations in combat. More distractingly, your character will also continue to speak in Geralt's voice despite the change in appearance, which might pull you out of the moment a bit.

Even so, it's an impressive bit of work, as is the “Spawn Companion” mod, which enables you to bring Lambert, Eskel, Ves, Cirilla, or Kiyan along with you on your journeys. The latest changelog notes that its compatibility with other mods has been improved but is still not guaranteed, although as you can see in the video above, courtesy of Br34k, it works quite nicely with the “Playable Triss” mod. I haven't tried it myself, but Reddit says the companions can be “helpful” in combat. And hey, at least you'll have someone to talk to besides Roach, right?

A few other cool mods to lay your eyes on, in case you missed them: Better textures, Gwent fights, and the Infected Mode, which you should probably handle with extreme caution.

Marvel Studios Got The Rights Back For The Villain Taskmaster

The rights to the Marvel Comics villain Taskmaster have been over at 20th Century Fox for some time now, but according to ComicBook.com, the rights have recently reverted back to Marvel Studios. The rights of the character were brought into question during an interview with Deadpool director Tim Miller. When asked what other characters he'd like to see fight Deadpool on the big screen, he said:

“I’d love to see Deadpool fight Batman - no, I’m just kidding, that’s not even in the Marvel family! I’d love to see Deadpool go up against Taskmaster who’s another Marvel total fcukin’ badass. But if I was to stay inside the Fox family, I would like to see him fight X-23, the female Wolverine. The female clone of Wolverine.”
It was that comment of staying "inside the Fox family" that raised some eyebrows. That basically implied that Taskmaster was back over at Marvel, and the site checked with their sources to confirm. The rights to that character reverted back to Marvel Studios at the same time the rights to Daredevil did.

Apparently at one point Fox actually tried to develop a live-action film project for the villain, but it never got off the ground.

Taskmaster is a pretty badass villain, so it would be cool if Marvel actually ended up using him in something some day. He seems like a character they might use in one of their TV or Netflix shows, but we'll just have to wait and see. For those of you not familiar with the character, here are some details thanks to Marvel:

The man who would become the Taskmaster was born a prodigious savant of mnemonic talents. He discovered his unusual abilities in childhood when, after watching a cowboy television program, he found he could duplicate the rope tricks he had seen the actors perform. Growing to understand his ability, he saw a man perform a difficult backwards leap from a diving board; he duplicated the dive, but nearly drowned because he didn’t know how to swim.

Afterwards, his mother called in psychiatrists who studied his ability, terming it “photographic reflexes.” He employed his talent several times during his youth for professional gain, most notably when he became a star quarterback of his high school football team after watching one pro football game. After graduating high school he contemplated becoming a crimefighter, but decided crime would be more lucrative.

Taskmaster possesses photographic reflexes, which enables him to watch another person’s physical movements and duplicate them without practice, no matter how complex. This ability is only limited by the fact that he does not possess superhuman strength or other superhuman attributes.

Taskmaster has made extensive use of video tapes and movies to study the movements of superhuman adventurers, as well as athletes, marksmen, stunt performers, and soldiers. Thus he has gained a wide range of combat and acrobatic skills. These skills include, but are not limited to, all present day and many historical martial arts, boxing, wrestling, swordsmanship, archery, marksmanship, gymnastics, aerial acrobatics and sleight of hand.
Recently it has been discovered that Taskmaster also possesses photographic memory and voice impersonation.

The numbers are in, these are the 10 most pirated TV shows of 2015. This year’s list saw some shakeups but the #1 show stayed firmly at the top, pulling in an estimated 14 MILLION illegal downloads (compared to 8.1 million estimated TV viewers). That show is of course HBO’s Game of Thrones, the greatest show in the history of television. Two things led to me walking away from bittorrent downloads forever: (1) I got 2 strikes from Time Warner in the form of two letters saying I’d been flagged for illegal bittorrent usage, and if I got a third strike my service would be canceled and (2) the demise of Demonoid (though it is back now), the site that was once the greatest and safest hub for bittorrent on the planet. After the Ukraine took down Demonoid as a show of good faith to the United States I was done, but it’s not like I ever really used it for anything highly illegal in the first place, the way I used bittorrent truly was a victimless crime and this is something that the ISPs and TV networks might not ever understand.

I pay for HBO, SHO, Cinemax, and just about every other channel on TV. The primary reason I ever bittorrent was to watch TV shows while on planes, trains, and automobiles…a service that’s only recently been offered from the networks.

As for the list of ‘top 10 most pirated shows’ I’m almost ashamed to admit that I still haven’t watched Mr. Robot or Vikings, two shows that even the surliest of TV reviewers agree are amazing. Thinking 2016 will be my year to catch up on TV. And for those of you bros that are huge into Game of Thrones I hope you’re stoked to see the return of my GoT recaps that have been known to get up to 10,000 words per episode…because we’re only 3.5 months away from the season premiere!

the battery in my car's playing up / behaving strangely. going flat / getting flatter and the lights turned on without utilizing the switch - they flickered on upon start up briefly. i'm suspecting that the battery may have dropped a cell. similar thing happened last time the battery died - about 5 years ago. i've got the battery on the charger - it's accepting charge / so i know it's flat.
have taken to carrying my jumper leads with me in the meanwhile. and am thinking of pulling the battery out of the rx7 and either carrying that with me, or putting it in the sp23 - i think that it'll fit, the posts are around the right way, just not sure on the batteries height / if they're the same.

I love manual transmissions but I do not know what I would do without my automatic transmission. After leg day, I am basically disabled.

If you have gotten 5 years out of it,you've done pretty well,I don't trust them after three years,but have had a couple last seven,but I only top them up with distilled water.If you have dropped a cell,I don't think your charger would look at it,because it would be down by two volts,so the charger would constantly trip out on overload.A case like this is when it's handy to have a multimeter.The lights coming on by themselves is strange,hopefully not a by-product of your bingle,that would be a sure way of flattening

the battery,if they're coming on willy nilly when it's not in use.I had a mate that was having battery gremlins,and it ended up,that he had a faulty brake light switch,so they were coming on whenever.When he went to leave my place one night,the brake lights were on,I said that's probably what's draining your battery,he arrived home,made sure they were off,came out half an hour later,and they were on again......new switch!

FIRST LOOK: Star Trek Stamps Coming for 2016

The United States Postal Service, as part of the ongoing Star Trek 50th anniversary celebration, will offer Star Trek stamps in 2016, and StarTrek.com is pleased to present a special First Look at the set. Designed by The Heads of State, who also designed the issuance/panel, each stamp showcases one of four digital illustrations inspired by elements of the iconic Star Trek: The Original Series. Antonio Alcala served as the project's art director.

Crowdfunded STAR TREK Fan Film Slapped With a Lawsuit From Paramount Pictures

Earlier this year, a prelude to a Star Trek fan film was released called Axanar. I've posted that 21-minute short for you to watch below. That short was crowdfunded and it served as a stepping stone to a much larger project. The team that made that launched another crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for a full-length feature film, and so far it has raised over $1.13 million.

Over the years, Paramount and CBS — the rights holders to the Star Trek franchise — have supported fan films and even encouraged them at times! But this week they slapped the production company of this Star Trek film with a lawsuit. I guess it just got too big for them, and they felt threatened by it.

It probably didn't help that Axanar is officially described as the "first independent" Star Trek film, and not a fan film. Here's the official description of the project:

Axanar is the first fully-professional, independent Star Trek film. While some may call it a "fan film" as we are not licensed by CBS, Axanar has professionals working in front and behind the camera, with a fully-professional crew--many of whom have worked on Star Trek itself--who ensure Axanar will be the quality of Star Trek that all fans want to see.
For you, the Star Trek fan, Axanar is a return to the type of Star Trek all of us grew up on, with a hopeful future where mankind works with other races to explore the stars, via storytelling that is positive and teaches us about ourselves. Axanar feels like Star Trek because it is made by two of the biggest Star Trek fans in the world, Alec Peters and Robert Burnett. Alec was the executive producer/co-writer of Prelude to Axanar, and Rob wrote & directed Free Enterprise.

The producers of the film, including Alec Peters, are obviously looking to make a studio-quality film. Apparently veteran Star Trek actor George Takei has even helped push the film forward. It's easy to see why Paramount is going after them.

According to the lawsuit that was filed, "The Axanar Works infringe Plaintiffs’ works by using innumerable copyrighted elements of Star Trek, including its settings, characters, species, and themes."

Here's the description of the film itself, and what the story will entail:

"Axanar takes place 21 years before the events of 'Where no Man Has Gone Before,' the first Kirk episode of the original Star Trek. Axanar is the story of Garth of Izar, the legendary Starfleet captain who is Captain Kirk’s hero ... Axanar tells the story of Garth and his crew during the Four Years War, the war with the Klingon Empire that almost tore the Federation apart. Garth’s victory at Axanar solidified the Federation and allowed it to become the entity we know in Kirk’s time. It is the year 2245 and the war with the Klingons ends here."
It sounds like it would be a pretty awesome film! It's a shame that Paramount is trying to shut it down, but they do have every legal right to do so. Peters didn't think there would be any legal issues with the film because he has met with CBS and Paramount regarding it, and it seemed to him like everything would be fine as long as the movie didn't make any money upon its release.

When talking to The Wrap, Peters said, "CBS has a long history of accepting fan films. I think Axanar has become so popular that CBS realizes that we’re just making their brand that much better." I guess the studio had a change of heart.

According to THR, "Paramount and CBS, represented by attorneys at Loeb & Loeb, are now demanding an injunction as well as damages for direct, contributory and vicarious copyright infringement. Although the plaintiffs have allowed ample cosplaying over the years and even permitted other derivatives like amateur Star Trek shows to circulate, the lawsuit illustrates that there is a place where no man has gone before, where the entertainment studios are not willing to let be occupied: Crowdfunded, professional-quality films that use copyrighted 'elements' like Vulcans and Klingons, Federation starships, phasers, and stuff like the 'look and feel of the planet, the characters’ costumes, their pointy ears, and their distinctive hairstyle.'"

Maybe the studio should have told Peters that when they initially met with him regarding the project. Seems to me like they gave the talented people involved with this production a false sense of hope.

charged the battery last night - took it off the charger at 11pm - probably could have left it go overnight but meh. when i went to start it this morning lights flickered on and turned over slowly before starting. drove straight down to turbo batteries in Brendale and had it checked & subsequently changed for a new one. $157 later........
they tested the alternator too, said that it's working fine, supplying 13.3 volts at idle.
had to be proactive in sorting it, since tomorrow's a holiday and i could see a lot of business's closed all weekend to and not back 'til monday.
