still setting records. if not this weekend it will happen either way. QUOTE Victory in the MotoGP of Argentina marked Valentino Rossi's 199th podium in all grand prix classes.
The Italian could thus become the first rider in history to claim a double century of rostrums this Sunday at Jerez. The omens are good: Rossi is the most successful rider at the Spanish Grand Prix with eight grand prix victories and the Doctor has only finished off the rostrum six times from 19 Jerez starts. Official MotoGP statistics list Italian Giacomo Agostini as second for all-time GP podiums, with 159. 2015 world championship leader Rossi, fighting for a tenth title, has scored 66 points this year - his highest points total after the opening three rounds since 2005. Rossi's last three MotoGP wins (Phillip Island last year, Qatar and Argentina this year) have all been achieved from eighth on the grid - but the most surprising statistic is that Rossi has only led across the line for a total of four laps in 2015. |

something different / interesting QUOTE Kmart eating Target: Wesfarmers
Wesfarmers has conceded the expansion of its successful Kmart chain is taking business away from struggling stablemate Target. Finance director Terry Bowen said the effect of Kmart adding another 10 stores nationwide to exceed 200 could be seen in quarterly figures released yesterday. "We've certainly seen some cannibalisation, and indeed some of the categories that Kmart did well in Target had some more difficult times," Mr Bowen said. Kmart's March quarter sales climbed about 11 per cent to $937 million, while Target's slipped 1.6 per cent to $663 million. Target has more than 300 stores nationally. Growth at Kmart was driven by home, seasonal apparel and Easter-related ranges, managing director Guy Russo said. Wesfarmers managing director Richard Goyder said Target had done well in children's wear but was yet to see a turn- around in the key category of women's wear. "Clearly, we've got the best- performing department store in the country in Kmart, and Target is certainly not the worst," Mr Goyder said. "We understand that from time to time those businesses compete with each other. We don't mind that. "We're confident both businesses can perform well. We've obviously got some work to do in Target but we're well on the way." Mr Goyder said while sales were down, Target was in better shape than it was a year ago. Target managing director Stuart Machin said the result reflected the cost of transforming the business away from "a culture of over-promoting and over-ordering" to consistent lower pricing. Overall, Wesfarmers' retail sales increased 3.3 per cent to $13.12 billion. Coles reported price deflation of one per cent for the quarter as the supermarket operator pursued a strategy of permanently discount- ing some household staples. Mr Goyder said there had been price deflation at Coles since the first quarter of 2010. Food and liquor sales rose 5.4 per cent to $7.1 billion, with comparable sales up 3.8 per cent. Bunnings sales climbed 12 per cent and Officeworks did 9 per cent better than a year earlier. Wesfarmers' shares closed down 15¢ yesterday to $43. |

engage warp drive mr sulu QUOTE Nasa might have successfully tested a warp drive, could carry people at speeds as fast as light
Nasa may have successfully tested a form of space flight that could carry people to the moon in a few short hours — and eventually let us fly at speeds approaching that of light. The agency has built an electromagnetic (EM) drive, using technology that shouldn’t be possible in current understanding of physics, according to users on forum NASASpaceFlight.com. Some of those discussing the plan claim to be Nasa engineers that are currently working on the plan — and have been verified as such, according to Cnet. While the technology behind EM drives has been demonstrated before, the results have been disputed by some who don’t believe that it could work. But a controlled demonstration in conditions like those in space could be enough to begin the work to prove that the project could be used in practice. Though the technology has been discussed in great length and detail on the forum and elsewhere, it is yet to undergo any peer review and the results of the recent Nasa experiments have not been released publicly. The device works by propelling objects through space by using magnets to create microwaves, which are then sent through a device to create thrust. If it works, it could overcome the need to carry fuel for propulsion — a huge problem that limits the speed and distance that those journeying in space can travel. To work, the spacecraft that carried it would need to carry a nuclear power plant to create the energy required to travel through space. Nasa's official site says that: "There are many 'absurd' theories that have become reality over the years of scientific research.". "But for the near future, warp drive remains a dream," it writes in a post updated last month. According to the forum users, the technology has been tested at the Johnson Space Center. In 2014, Nasa verified that the claims of Roger Shawyer, who invented the technology, did seem to be true. But those tests took place using low power and not in the kinds of space-like environment that the new testing seems to have been done in. Speaking to Cnet, one of the scientists involved in the project said that it was looking to release Nasa from the problems of having to build and carry rockets. "My work at Eagleworks (the lab at JSC where the EM drive is being tested) is just a continuation of my work tackling the fundamental problem that has been hindering manned spaceflight from the termination of the Apollo moon program,” said Paul March. “That being the availability of a robust and cost-effective power and propulsion technology that can break us loose from the shackles of the rocket equation." |

something different / interesting i was surprised to see that Bunnings sales had risen so much, you know that the store is absolutely dominating the market but yeah, didn't expect their sales figures had risen so much in a year......... https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/2746524...get-wesfarmers/ Wesfarmers must save a fortune by having shit service at all their Bunnings stores. I think I'll stick with Mitre10. :) |

It will be a hard race to watch, still he's sensible enough not to do anything stupid.....fingers crossed, and watch the crowd if it does happen! He won't have that in the back of his mind. All he would be thinking about is WC. He wont take any risks, he's too smart for that. He knows when to pounce and when to settle for valuable points. Not like MM he's all or nothing. He needs to learn finishing 2nd for 20 points is better then crashing for 0. But he's not stupid, he knows Rossi is hard to beat when he's in the current form that he's in. The media is trying make a big deal about the last race when they touched and MM crashed. Trying to bait them to get a rivalry there. But with those 2 what happens on the track stays on the track. Rossi likes an aggressive battle, but in saying that he has never taken out another rider on a pass, there has been contact but no crashes.. as he says a great battle makes it very funny, however MM doesnt admit it was his fault.. all he says was "we touched and you saw what happend" LOL he is an agressive rider.. but as we have seen he will just barge his way past, he's taken out 3 riders so far doing this.. not to mention all the crashes he caused when in moto2.. this was the worst ive seen,, phillip island when in moto2.. and it was the cool down lap. |

Wesfarmers must save a fortune by having shit service at all their Bunnings stores. I think I'll stick with Mitre10. i've had staff at bunnings offer their assistance on any number of occasions. not sure that there's a mitre10 anywhere around us, but there's 3 bunnings stores within 8km of me. |

Me too,I've always found Bunnings staff to be most helpful. We have a Bunnings, and a Masters, side by side, and they've made sure you can't take a short cut to either one,it's probably a kilometer to go the proper way,100 meters if you dare cross the minefield this, glad i mowed my lawn at the start of the week. I'm glad I didn't mow those two blocks on the farm |

Oh lol - Anzac test, Aus vs NZ tonight at Suncorp tonight. Surprised that it's still going ahead honestly. Dangerous for people to be out and about. News just said.... Women's match to go ahead first and that they had been expecting 35,000 spectators, except that the rain will have put paid to that. No shit :P |

Just did the same to mine, this has taken all the fun out of my batching holiday how far do you think your mower would sink Wasn't worrying about sinking, was concerned re the nut washing into the creek, long grass slows the little round buggers down.A couple of years ago, they were picking up macadamias off the beach at Ballina after a bout of weather like this |

There has been a fair bit of police radio activity in the Nimbin area through the day, just checked and confirmed by my son Mardi Grass is on,and the poor buggers are out there now, having to roll their strides up to keep them dry, plus getting flooded in!One wonders how much evidence will be smoked just to keep them sane |

Actually whilst we are having this wee weather event, for those of you who are just hanging to be my nextdoor neighbor remember there is a tradition, that in a major weather event like this you must race out and buy every avaliable loaf of bread, because if you cannot eat it,you can use it to soak up the flood waters.Honestly two major food stores and not aloaf of bread in sight, myself, and another old fart in a very empty bread isle,I said 'Must be going to flood'...he laughed knowingly |
