What a load of crap. A child is present and the car may run off the road? They are all doing burnouts at walking pace and they clearly know what they are doing. The child was surrounded by adults and between cars as well. As for the comparison to the hand brake turn in the civic calling that a burnout, that is the worst evidence and has no correlation what so ever to a burnout as shown in the video.

Yet another horrendous story by ACA. THANKS ACA

‘X-Files’ Returns to Fox as Limited Series

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are set to reprise their roles for the six-episode run

“X-Files” is coming back to Fox as a six-episode limited series, the network told TheWrap.

The series’ Emmy Award-winning creator and executive producer Chris Carter is returning, alongside stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who’ll reprise their roles as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively, more than a decade after the show ended in 2002.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” Carter said in a statement. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

Produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Ten Thirteen Productions, production is set to begin this summer. But, Fox has yet to determine an airdate for the limited series.

“We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of ‘The X Files’ – one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers – and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again,” said Fox Television Group chairmen and CEOs, Gary Newman and Dana Walden, in a joint statement.

“’The X Files’ was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning,” they continued. “Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as ‘The X Files,’ and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”

The series follows FBI special agents Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny) as they investigate unexplained cases – dubbed “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Anderson said of the return: “The idea is to get the old gang back, have some fun and get a bit of closure for us and the audience.”

During its initial nine-season run, “The X Files” became one of the most successful television dramas of all time, hitting a peak ratings high in 1997 when more than 27 million people tuned in to the Season 5 premiere. The show had earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award.

Ashleigh Humphrys hit-and-run: Owner of 'dark sedan' found dead

The driver of a car believed to have hit and killed 20-year-old Brisbane woman Ashleigh Humphrys has been found dead.

Police seized the dark sedan on Monday afternoon and questioned the driver but released him without charge.

This morning police confirmed the 57-year-old man had died on Thursday in non-suspicious circumstances.

Ms Humphrys died after being hit by a car near a roundabout at Toowong about 4am Sunday.

Brisbane Forensic Crash Unit Senior Sergeant Simon Lamerton said the man had told police he had driven through the area at the time on the way to work in the city but didn't realise he'd hit anybody.

He said police were "reasonably confident" the dark sedan was the one that hit the young woman but hadn't made a decision about whether or not to lay charges.

Senior Sergeant Lamerton said the investigation into the man's death was being handled by the coroner and police couldn't release any more details.

Ms Humphrys' family has been informed of the latest developments.

Police say Ms Humphrys, who witnesses described as disoriented just before her death, was walking home from Toowong to Seventeen Mile Rocks after celebrating her birthday at a friend's house.

She was heavily affected by alcohol and was either lying on the road or on hands and knees when she was hit, police say.

CCTV cameras captured Ms Humphrys walking west along the Mt Cooth-tha Road extension of the Western Freeway at Toowong shortly before 4am Sunday but did not film the crash itself.

Police have analysed the dark sedan and sent material away for further testing to confirm whether it is the vehicle that struck Ms Humphrys.

Senior Sergeant Lamerton said he hoped to have the results back "early next week".

On Monday, Senior Sergeant Lamerton said Ms Humphrys had stopped at a Caltex service station on Milton Road just prior to her death, where people tried to order her a taxi.

On Sunday night, police seized a taxi seen stopped on the side of the road before the incident and Indooroopilly CIB officers interviewed the driver.

Senior Sergeant Lamerton said police didn't have any evidence to suggest the taxi was involved in the crash and it had only been seized to rule it out of the investigation.

The wonderful marvellous novelty watches of Baselworld 2015

pics are in the link. thumbsup.gif

QUOTE
Baselworld, the world's largest and most important watch show in the world, happens once a year in Basel, Switzerland, and it is where companies big and small come to show off their latest achievements and past accolades in the wristwear field.

High end premium companies, including Rolex, Mondaine, Tag Heuer, Omega and Hublot, plus smaller watch makers, like Ollivier Saveo, Christophe Claret and Hyt, exhibit at the show, keen to impress visitors, journalists and buyers.

For many in the world of watches, the idea of a smartwatch is something that is contextually "smart", rather than having the ability to communicate with your phone. And for decades watch makers have been showing off their smarts, or engineering capabilities, with a number of different designs beyond your average circular watch face.

Whether that's liquid-filled time pieces, something that includes thousands of parts, or merely hand crafted elements, they all have one thing in common: they are stunning. And often reassuringly expensive.

Some of the watches at Baselworld cost over £200,000, and yet there isn't a diamond or gemstone in sight.

We've captured some of the best from the show, focusing on the most interesting looking or downright bonkers, so even if your bank balance doesn't stretch to it you can still enjoy their mesmorising beauty.

weathers going to be a bit sketchy over the next couple of days i believe. there's a rotary cruise on this weekend. i was undecided about whether or not to go, with the destination up near my parents / dropping around to see them afterwards, but they're doing their bit @ grey nomads, and going away, blocking the highway with their caravan for anyone who wants to go somewhere quick, so i think that i'll just stay home and play some Elite Dangerous on the computer.

video of the guy refusing to drink round up in the link.

http://time.com/3761053/monsanto-weed-kill...-patrick-moore/

QUOTE
In an interview with the French television station Canal Plus, an advocate for genetically modified foods said Roundup, a weedkiller that is manufactured by chemical giant Monsanto, is safe for human consumption but refused to drink the herbicide when offered a glass by an interviewer.

Patrick Moore says he leads a campaign in support of “golden rice,” a genetically modified grain that contains high amounts of vitamin A. In the interview, which Moore says he believed would focus on “golden rice,” he says the active ingredient in the herbicide, glyphosate, is not causing cancer rates in Argentina to increase.

“You can drink a whole quart of it and it won’t hurt you,” he said.

But when the reporter told him that they had prepared a glass and invited Moore to drink it, he refused, saying “I’m not stupid.”

“So, it’s dangerous?” the interviewer asked.

“It’s not dangerous to humans,” Moore replied.

He insisted that people “try to commit suicide” by drinking Roundup but “fail regularly.” Moore then walked out of the interview.

Last Friday, the World Health Organization’s cancer-research arm, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, classified the widely used herbicide as “probably carcinogenic to humans.”

another 3d printed gun story, this time an automatic rifle. hold on for the ride, once this technology gets out / mainstream, there's going to be big problems

http://hooning.rocks/news/technology-engin...deadlier-rounds

QUOTE
In 2013, Defense Distributed created the world’s first 3D-printed handgun, the .38-caliber Liberator. The following year, they unveiled an AR-15 receiver capable of firing hundreds of 5.56mm rounds without fail. Now, we can fire 7.62mm x 51mm NATO rounds from a 3d printed creation, made in the privacy of your own garage! Check the pics and video inside!

This year, the team has been outdone by a group of fabricators at Printed Firearm who have once again raised the bar. They’ve successfully crafted and test fired the receiver for a Colt CM109 modular battle rifle — the AR-15’s badass big brother. The CM109 is larger and heavier than the AR-15 as it is built to accommodate a larger caliber round: the 7.62 x 51mm NATO. The 7.62mm rounds fly farther and strike with much more force than the 5.56mm, making them far more deadly. It also means that the lower receiver (the bit that holds the firearm’s moving parts) has to be both heavier and sturdier in order to handle the increased mechanical stresses and harder recoil associated with using a bigger bullet. (originally published via engadget)

Sturdiness, however, isn’t typically the first thing that comes to mind when talking about 3D-printed items. The first few iterations of both the AR-15 receiver and the Liberator failed after squeezing off just a few rounds. Getting them to stand up to the rigors of repeated use has required a lot of trial and error. From the image above, the group has obviously cleared that hurdle with the CM109 components (at least for the first few seconds of rapid firing). “It has been fired with little to no issues,” the group said in a statement. Reportedly, the CM109 team crafted the component using a commercially available $500 DaVinci 3D printer.

While the 3D printing industry has become one that is constantly improving on itself with even more progressive technology, equipment, and mindblowing innovations that keep getting better and better, those interested in 3D printing weapons surely are not sitting idly by; in fact, they almost seem to want to own 3D printing — after all, the technology has the growing ability to give them what they want without any interference — and 3D printed guns have certainly owned plenty of headlines lately too.

What is the real reason that gun enthusiasts are turning to the high-tech savvy of the 3D printer? Is it that they want to embrace innovation and creativity? Perhaps. After all, it’s not exactly easy to make a gun under any circumstances. But 3D printing solves a few problems, and creates numerous controversies along the way too.three

If you can parlay some cash into a 3D printer, you have the flexibility and independence to prototype on your own, as well downloading files and receiving all sorts of support from the maker community with ongoing conversation, tips for improvements, and other open-source designs. And because the lower receiver of the gun is by most opinions considered to be the central part of the weapon and is federally regulated, 3D printing offers a great way for gun enthusiasts and US makers to exercise their private right to make weapons without any of the process required when you go to a gun shop and are subjected to a background check, which is sometimes tricky even if one doesn’t formally have a ‘record,’ as other items can be flagged and cause not only embarrassment, but delay.
