So ive just logged into boostcruising for the first time in years and i am shocked. Boostcruising offtopic used to home some of the most depraved humans on the.interwebz. This forum has housed some of the best trolls and flame threads i have ever seen. Now its come down to this. RIP boostcruising offtopic.
-------------------- Chuck Norris is so fast, he can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head
During the Vietnam War, Chuck Norris allowed himself to be captured. For torture, they made him eat his own entrails. He asked for seconds. In a fight between Batman and Darth Vader, the winner would be Chuck Norris. |

I miss old Boost too, but there is something to be said about your point Faun-has kind of weeded out the people who actually give a crap. |

um. well... you take the good with the bad the trolling and flame threads are probably what made most ppl leave. it used to be that you couldnt say anything on here without someone giving you shit or shutting you down. twincam left thank fcuk. imo he was the most annoying prick on here. i am happy with how boost is now. its friendlier and the ppl that have stayed care about the site. btw you're like the 35th person to come back and make a thread saying the exact same thing... Right on... On one hand I sometimes think "was the out of the control trolling and flaming actually good for the site? Is getting rid of all that trash he reason why the forum part of the site is now used by fewer people?" But then I remember the site was starting to be used less and less whilst the trolling was going on, that's why I came down hard on it, without realizing that all along the real problem was.... Facebook.... On the plus side, the classifieds go from strength to strength, so I take the good with the bad. |

Out of interest is it mostly the cars/bikes for sale section of the classifieds which is popular or every section? I only ask because up until recently I used to look for car parts for sale on here and most of the ads seemed to be either old, overpriced or I couldn't even find what I wanted. I just assumed not many people were selling import parts anymore. Then I discovered all these pages on facebook (I still refuse to use it, I just have an account for using the sales pages) which seem to have heaps of parts for cheap. Its fantastic. However, I am guessing the cars/bikes section is what you are talking about because I still have a look here occasionally and there seems to be a fair few different cars for sale. Edit: I also bought a car off boost about a month ago, so there is that. |

FB pages are certainly where its at for parts, the shit part is searching via facefcuk and sorting though cars if your only looking for parts and vice versa. McLeod should start two Boost pages, one for parts and one for cars. It wouldn't take long to gain traction and would possibly bring traffic here? I think rules and over-moderation helped kill offtopic, all my other favorite forums seemed to survive Facebook's uprising |

Exacto. Aside from the general amusement of the spam thread, the only other forums I frequent are car-specific, and invaluable. |

Yeah seems pretty dead, and the layout is crap now. I've never even bothered with the classifieds so maybe that's where all the effort is going now. |

I've been gone for over 6 months, I only used the forum for the banter of OT. I personally couldn't see it getting used less as there were at least one new member asking a stupid f'king question per day. The other reason I haven't been on here is the changes, it was like a weekly facelift around here, and the 50,000 emails for one topic subscription didn't help the situation.... |

Why don't we try a "boost revival". McLeod how about you set the layout and everything back to how it was originally, then everyone just spam the shit out to the Facebook for sale groups and pages. Share the shit out of it and see if numbers rise. It may remind a few of the old users what fun used to be had here as well as maybe bring a few new members. Could link to one of the old popular threads? |
