Well another Jamboree is over for the year and if you thought last years was bad ! this year trumped it by miles. Don't get me wrong I love Jamboree, I've been going for 10 years on an off, but this years was soooo bad it's actually making me think about bothering going next year. It's progressively getting worse every year but this one seems to have taken it to a new low. Will anything change ? Will it even be on in 2014 ? The good - The racing is awesome! From a driver who enters the event to a spectator. You can't fault the organizing/schedule of the actual racing. Unfortunately this is the only good thing left about Jamboree's lol The bad - The displays are worse than what you would see at a Friday school fate.. 5 years ago the whole alley down the strip was full of decent stalls. This year you have some bogan trying to palm off $10 RC toys for $50-$90 and A guy selling Chinese clothing.. - The car displays .. what's wrong with them. THERE IS NONE.. I think there was maybe 1 car club on display but it's hard to tell if it was a club or just 4 cars of the same model next to each other. I didn't see any show and shine cars except for a car audio shop display. - The stage shows lol.. I don't know what was better the RC drifting around 3 12 year old girls.. Or the beat boxer who should probably stick to home youtube videos. The only decent show left which is the motox fame guys didn't even show up Sunday ! Why because there was no crowd... Pro Tip jamboree organizers: Kids drifting their rc cars is not something anyone wants to watch.. - $70 entry fee for the weekend.. If I was their spectating and paid $70 for the 2 days,. I would honestly ask for some money back by the time Sunday afternoon came around. You would be better off just watching a Test and Tune Saturday night or wait till Winternationals. How can this be fixed you might be asking Ray ? - Change it back to 1 action packed day rather than dragging it out over 2 - Who ever is organizing the stage schedule.. Fire them right now.. Get a band on stage even ? - Half the spectator ticket prices. half the stall fee prices. and you might get some people coming to watch and some decent stalls. - For the love of god, stop putting on those monster bike shows.. Sure it's ok watching it once in your life time but any more than that and it gets so boring.. I'ld rather watch the guy in the tractor clean the drag strip. agree, it's to expensive for spectators. I don't bother going on sundays on account of the expense. |

Although i missed this year due to my little bub arriving a couple of months ago i left it but i will be back racing next year. most people go to jamboree for the racing. What was decribed sounds like what is at the v8 supercars the main attractions is the racing, for me i dont really find the show cars all that impressive anyway. |

I remember when the show and shine drew more of a crowd then the racing. Since 2009ish every year the show & shine, stalls & side shows have gone backwards but this year was so bad. There was 3 totally stock cars in the show & shine! |

i've bumped this thread to add a link to a competition / survey that people can complete with a view towards improving the event, and the direction that that takes. QUOTE This year marked the 23rd running of the Brisbane Jamboree and the 10th running of the Sydney Jamboree. Wow, how time flies! We’ve made some changes to the event over the years, we’ll admit not always in the right direction, but people’s expectations of car shows in this day and age are changing so we need your feedback to keep Jamboree as Australia’s most-anticipated Sport Compact event. We’ve got a brief survey below that will help us better shape the event to suit you, and as our way of saying thank you we’re giving you the chance to WIN the ultimate Jamboree fans prize pack. Filling out the survey gets you one entry in the draw (one entry per person). The package includes: - Airfares for 2 people to the Sydney or Brisbane Jamboree from major airports on the East Coast of Australia Twin share accommodation. (Hotel TBC) 2 x VIP Corporate Box Tickets to the Sydney or Brisbane Jamboree But wait, there’s more! If you go to our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/JamboreeEvent and share the Survey Post we'll give you an extra chance to win the Sydney or Brisbane Jamboree VIP Package!. |

Nice thread..I work for MTQ Engine Systems (Sonic Performance) that sponsor the Pro Compact bracket. I totally agree with all you guys and did happen to write a comprehensive letter to Ray after the weekend with pretty much the same concerns that have been mentioned. I did not work at our trade stand this year ( was purely a spectator) but will be instrumental in this years stand. I will be following this thread closely and am very very interested in your guys thoughts on improving jamboree for 2014 as it is truly a wicked event. PM me any ideas you guys have that we as trade guys can improve or other improvements that I can pass on to Ray. |

Problem is the new laws have killed the modified import industry. I know that is the number 1 factor for me not going to these events and also in the process of selling my modified import. What's the point if I can't enjoy my car on the street and track? |

The 'scene' is still there but it's definitely not what it used to be... I would agree that it's got a lot to do with laws and legislation changes over the last five years. |

the event needs tits. There, I said it. Miss jambo needs to come back, and she needs to take her top off. sure its low brow but I'll be out there to watch... hell, fast cars and tits? sounds like a great day out! the family friendly idea while nice just isn't cutting it in the current No doubt it drew the crowds.... https://www.google.com.au/search?q=boostcru...UTF-8&hl=en |

I agree Downshift has done an exceptional job of late,as anyone that was a part of the HUGE Paul Walker charity cruise will also agree. Their support of Jamboree could help keep the event alive and more importantly fresh! I might get flamed here but the days of truckin dj's is over..... |

Sport Compact Group Jamboree News Jan 27, 2014 QUOTE WE ASKED, YOU ANSWERED AND WE'VE LISTENED
Date: 26/01/14 Well, the results of the Jamboree Survey are in! We undertook the survey to accurately map where we stood on the automotive event landscape, and what shortcomings we could address to reassert the Jamboree moving forward. The information gathered has confirmed many of our thoughts and should help us re-shape the Jamboree for the future. Based on your input, as well as feedback from our spectators, competitors, traders, sponsors and track management, we'll be making the following changes to the Jamboree events in 2014. - The Brisbane Jamboree will move back to a 1-Day event and race into the night, like early events. The Sunday was be reserved as a rain day. - The Sports Bike and Pro Sports Bike brackets will be retired from the Jamboree events. - The Modified 10.5 class will become a 4, 6 and Rotary bracket only with turbo V8’s moving into the Extreme bracket. - All Normally Aspirated and Nitrous only V8s will be retired from competing at the Jamboree events. - We'll be simplifying the Street Compact class rules to encourage more people to get involved in Sport Compact Drag Racing. - We’ll be putting in place an ET Cut Off for the All Motor class. ET TBC. - Plus a couple of other new features we can't announce just yet. Stay tuned for more details on the changes in the coming weeks. Now everyone one that did the survey went into the draw for the Jamboree Tour Package that includes : - Airfares for 2 people to the Sydney or Brisbane Jamboree from major airports on the East Coast of Australia - Twin share accommodation. (Hotel TBC) - 2 x VIP Corporate Box Tickets to the Sydney or Brisbane Jamboree And the winner of the Jamboree Tour Package is Stewart Hanley from Lemon Tree Passage, just north of Newcastle NSW. Stewart has been to every Sydney Jamboree since it started and has always wanted to go to the Brisbane Jamboree. Well, in August he and a friend will be heading up to the Brisbane Jamboree to make that dream come true. Congrats Stewart and we’ll see you at the 2014 Brisbane Jamboree! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that took part in the survey. We really appreciated your feedback and support. Cheers! Ray |
