Shuffs
Post #527
speaking of highest rainfall Shuffs, they had a flash flood up at Kin Kin a few years ago, it was measured at 620mm in a 4 hour period, It really was a wall of water once it came down from the hills. I think you would have to witness rainfall like that to be able to appreciate it,damn near need a aqualung to stand out in it.Whilst on the subject, here's something to possibly look forward to QUOTE CYCLONE watchers predict the first cyclone in the Coral Sea this season may form off the Queensland coast in the next 10 days. Forecasters expect up to four cyclones in the Coral Sea - one likely to be severe with very destructive winds above 165km/h, and another to cross the Queensland coast - before the end of March. Long-range modelling shows the possibility of the first tropical low forming in the northern Coral Sea by mid-January. "Certainly a cyclone in January is not out of the question," Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Lauren Murphy said yesterday. "There is such great uncertainty with cyclones in the short term. There are no lows and no signs of a cyclone forming yet. "The monsoon trough is well north of Australia, but when it moves south that is when we will see a focal point when a tropical low can develop into a cyclone." Stupid stock android browser... Now watch your lawns go mad,Doc!I take it no one,had any damage, just a lot of precipitation in a very short time,Brisbane radar looked like some one had dropped a Pizza on the south east corner of QLD,with all the red and yellow. The highest rainfall reading I could see from the automatic weather stations up that way,was 100mm,which probably fell in five minutes. Front yard turned a shade of green overnight. |

Do Bom.gov.au mind getting their weather report duplicated without any acknowledgement or link. ? Acknowledgement is on the bottom right of the page. thats pretty cool idea.. where is the actual link displayed on Boost? It's not really ready yet, that's why it's not widely accessible, but you can use the "Weather" link in the footer that's available on desktop version of the site. ^^^^ i couldn't find a link either when i went looking for it. ended up going to look at the BOM site. Understood, hopefully once it's tidied up some more and ready for wider general release, it'll have a dedicated menu option in the top bar. |

QUOTE VIDEO: V8 COROLLA WINS SUMMERNATS Tuesday, January 7, 2014 WHEN IT comes to burnouts there is no prize more highly sought after than the National Burnout Masters at Summernats in Canberra, and this year Mick Brasher took the top spot with his supercharged V8 Corolla. Mick is well known for changing the colour scheme on his Corolla every six months or so, but this time around he showed up with the little burnout blaster looking almost stock appearing; that’s if you ignore the massive Chevy V8 hanging out the front. To take the win Mick hit the burnout pad at high speed with the engine screaming at over 8000rpm and quickly destroyed a new set of tyres in front of a capacity crowd. If you want to see more, then check out the next issue of Street Machine magazine, on sale January 23rd. |

I must admit after 1 or 2 burnout comps, does nothing for me much, needs to be something pretty stout, blown is good, manual all through the gears is brutal, buzzing it to 8000 and not breaking down or bouncing the limiter is good too. |

I must admit, with how hot it usually is @ Canberra most days when the Summernats is on, that by the time the burnout competition is on Sunday afternoon, we're usually half way home. I'd like to see them make the burnout area bigger, but it's the same ole every year. |
