so.....I managed to attract the attention of hp plod last weekend, who was nice enough to provide me with his signature.

unfortunately the details of the fine look to be incorrect (imo).

the officer has fined me for it being a 100km/hr zone where I believe / know that it was a 110km/hr zone. the offence occurred on the Leichhardt Hwy, approx. 30km north of Goondawindi

the difference being 17km over ( 3 points / $220), or 27km over (4 points / $366)

now the problem is, whilst I've confirmed that the area is a 110km/hr zone yesterday on my drive home, I didn't take any photo's, and google maps shows a sign saying 100 - obviously an old photo (you can be sure I paid particular attention to the speed zone throughout the area - having already received one fine tongue.gif )

how do you guys think I should proceed?

Between a rock and a hard place...

Does the fine specifically state where you were pulled over? In enough detail to verify that it was a 110km/h zone?

If all else fails, you could also lodge a complaint... this helps make it easy:

the fine states "Leichhardt highway" which is apparently a 100km/hr zone, for the first 18km north of Goondiwindi before the 110km/hr zone starts.

I rang the Goondwindi police station today and spoke to an officer on duty, who said, that if I want to dispute the fine, to photocopy the fine, send an accompanying letter to the officer in charge at their station, the fine will be suspended whilst it is investigated / gps coordinates will be checked, and that if the fine was issued incorrectly - ie wrong zone - that it will be re-issued as per 127/110 zone

I know, I should have stopped on the way home and taken some photo's as we came back through, or better yet, gotten out of the car at the time of the offence / taken a photo of the location - I could have used a stretch. I just didn't think to do it, plus I've been roused on by a police officer in the past for getting out of the car, I think that they're worried about their OH+S / and mine, being on the side of a busy road / don't want to get attacked etc.

on the way home, i'd already driven over 1,000km's at that point, and I really cbf'd - you just want to get home at that point in the trip.

I'm sure that it's a 110 zone, maybe I'm wrong, however I'm at the point that I'd need some sort of evidence to contradict the officers belief that it's a 100 zone, and given that he operates in the area all the time, and that I'd have to drive 350km there to take photo's etc, then yeah, you're right, it's going into the too hard basket atm.

he was coming the other way, mobile.

honestly, I knew I was moving quite speedily, I didn't think it was quite that high, but meh.

gotta say, I was expecting to be reamed a whole lot worse / 6 points, 4-500 fine - and no doubt I would have been if QLD had double demerits or double fines etc.

God I missed Japanese food.

Twenty bucks for all you can eat pizza,

a big plate of carbonara,

unlimited drinks and three deserts,

all of a better quality than you'd get at a four star Brisbane restaurant?

Yeah,

sure .
Ps,
It's two degrees here.

Fn lol, you must be eating in the little known "Italian American" sector of Japanese cuisine

But yes I hear you load and clear, BS pubs and restaurants raping you for cubic $$ for sub standard meals, I gave up eating out and the disappointment years ago, there are very few I could say I would enjoy, I can make better at home, fresher and nicer.

But if on Sunshine coast try "Arnica" at Cotton Tree/ Maroochydore, true Siclian Italian with Sunny coast freshest Seafood.

Sorry Doc, your pic is broken for me.
Veeks,
I have been around the traps quite a bit in the poofy food game, both locally and OS...but the best of EVERY type of cuisine I've ever had (ie; Chinese, Italian, Mexican, BBQ, the lot) has been in Japan.
They just take so damn much time and care in preparation of their food, no matter where it originates.
Also, it's as "Jap" as anything else to them. You have to remember that the average Jap gets more international variety in their diet every week than we do. They actually eat what WE think of as Japanese food comparatively infrequently.
TRIVIA: The dish that my wife misses most is her mum's spaghetti and meat balls.

CORRECTION:
Australia is still the only country I know of that does a proper iced chocolate.

Quite the opposite, and yes,I succumbed, the cat was really feeling the heat,so I took her down stairs, because it is always a lot cooler down there. That storm
dropped the ambient temperature from 41 degrees to 26 in 45minutes,and that was my first attempt at posting from my phone

What settings did you use to get that shot?

I think a lot of people take videos and stitch the frames together, or a smeg load of timelapse images and pray.

I used bulb mode on my camera
With an f8 aperture. Counted every 30sec and as soon as the lightning finished i'd close the shutter...

Or you could set the shutter speed to 30sec. Let it countdown and as soon as it strikes, turn the camera off which on mine saves the recorded image.

No idea. It had no markings of any kind...
I assume it is a restaurant.
The facade was all spraycrete and fiberglass underneath...very Disneyland.
But as I've said before, Japan is basically a theme park anyway.

The markings I was noticing was the St George dragon theme from the gates to the posts and then the shields on the fence, the style is from that era with the arches and 6 sphere windows etc, but yeah fk knows with Japan it could be an S&M disney theme brothel

Maybe worth asking local trucking company, or just pay for local cabby to drive the 18kms out of town and text you a pic, the pics will contain GPS co-ords, maybe cost you $100 in a fare, cabbies and truckies like sticking it up coppers.

Do you have exact location, slim chance may be able to call in a favour out that way, depending where it is exactly

I've done it before, driven 450km's to go to court, and I won that one. i'll make a decision in the next week, may go for a drive next weekend. see how I go.

13km's out of town from what the officer believes - I queried the zone straight from the outset when he pulled me over stating that I believed that it was a 110 zone, he said that the 100 zone had started 5 km prior where it goes over a bridge.

thanks for the offer, I'm not sure that I'm going to bother defending the matter at this stage.
