Yeah,

while the 86 interior is one of the few that actually manages to make the stock VW ones look good,

it is admittedly not down to Corolla spec. Been driving a few rental ones recently... Oh my.

LOL tell you what.. I rented through Hertz and got a VW, I was expecting a Corolla so pleasantly surprised I was not driving something like what I've got at the moment.. but at the end of the day they're both equally boring to drive and practical and have weirdo transmissions that I'm not a great fan of (but you love because only poorby's drive manual)

My only gripe is the steering wheel is shiiiiiiite in the Corolla.

It has a flippy key where my 86 doesn't, my mate just bought a brand new Corolla Ascent Sport and it doesn't have a flippy key lol Actually I prefer the non flip key less bulky and the novelty of flipping it out as if it were a sword gets old fast

The R8 STILL has a flippy key. My 2007 SLK doesn't. It's a bit silly really.

Keyless start is such a f'king waste... the new VF's have it, seriously whats the point of it??? (im talking about remote start)

Like starting the engine from the remote? Yeah, that's a bit silly, but with the right car it could be pretty rad.

Yep from the remote...

It's a bit daft. Keyless go though, and all the profile/memory features it can bring are a godsend if you are married though.

I have remote start with my fancy aftermarket alarm. would prefer a flip key to play with.

I actually test drove a car last week that had keyless go with Memory for Seats/mirrors/etc and loved it... No getting the key out of your pocket at all and when I hit the start button the seat moved into the preset position.. Though the sales manage who drove this thing home must have been tiny as goddam the seat moved along way forward...

Oh man tell me about it. It's one of those things that seems poofs until you live with it, then becomes indispensable. If the wife was driving the wife car last, by the time I get there, the seats, mirrors and wheel are where I need them, the stereo is set to ipod not radio, the navigation is changed from 2d to 3d...it even switches back to my stereo volume/base, etc. Absolutely brilliant.

just purchased koni's, and installed them on the Z.. not sure if getting reamed or if there's some 240z tax? didn't know where else to source them.
i'm too used to just buying stuff off the shelf for the euro stuff from places like moss-europe and pelican parts sad.gif doesn't appear to be any equivalent parts source for jap stuff.

Talking about the remote that stay in ur pocket and you simply pull the door handle and it opens. then u hop in and turn the knob were the barrel is and away u go

S30Z tax is astronomical on the 2 seaters.

New Tyres & Leathers

Tracking heaps are ya?

Drafty
Post #4085

Wouldn't say tracking it heaps, but don't ride a lot these days (Miss 2 & Mr 8 months), so I try to get to a Track day at least 4 times a year. As for the Leathers, well, had a win at the casino when I was down in Brisvegas yesterday getting a Service, and my current Leathers are a bit mismatched and loose, so why not.

New distributor, coil, plug leads and a gilmer drive system for the Fairlane...

curious, why the gilmer drive setup for a stock cruiser?

Draven
Post #4088

Because ive always liked the look of a nice Gilmer drive on the front of a v8 rather then the shitty looking thin belt and fan...
