Oh gawd!!! not another Frankie Edgar ball hugger!!!

Seriously, I've been following all the news about this fight all last night and today, and so many people are crying a robbery.

I personally think it was a deserved win. If either of them got their hand raised, either of them deserved the win. The fight was literally THAT close that people shouldn't be upset at who won, who lost. It was a fight that was able to go either way. TBH, after rd. 4, I had scored it Henderson for rd's 1,3 and 4, and Edgar rd 2. Round 5 i didn't pay much attention to, so I couldn't score that one, but I pretty much had it scored how 2 of 3 judges had scored it.

I thought rd 1 was clearly Henderson's, he got some crisp shots in, good leg kicks which had Frankie doing a balancing act, and he had a good guillotine choke attempt. Rd 2 was clearly Edgar's. He had the knockdown, and controlled most of the round. I wouldn't really call his submission attempt much of one, it looked like he was trying to setup a guillotine, but looked more like some sort of ineffective front choke instead (I had actually thought Edgar was trying to setup a D'Arce choke, but you need decently long arms to set those up, so I was thinking how Edgar could pull off a D'Arce). Rd's 3 and 4 I thought could've gone either way, but I gave it a nudge to Henderson, as I thought he was still getting the better of the striking game. I thought alot of Edgar's punches were just missing or just grazing, where as Henderson had actually made Frankie look beaten up. Also I didn't rate Frankie's other submission attempt, same deal, looked like a half-a$$ed front choke. Granted Frankie got a few TD's, but overall I left both rounds feeling Bendo did enough for each of those. But like I said, it could've gone either way. No comment for rd 5 as per my previous statement why I didn't score it.

Also I'd like to state, the stats for the fight on the live feed had Bendo clearly outlanding Edgar, but I've read today that those stats were wrong according to fight metric. I'm a little sceptical about it, and think that either of them could be wrong or both could be wrong???? So I'm leaving the stats out of it.

The thing that peevs me though, is alot of people saying "It was really close, it could've gone either way", but then complain that Frankie should've won???? So much for thinking the fight could've gone either way?

I had henderson winning a 48-47 fight. But oddly enought my buddy who watched it elsewhere had a 49-46 for Edgar. So I guess it goes to show just how close the fight was.

Absolutely agreed. People see and judge it in different ways, but one things for sure, it was extremely close and could've gone either way. I just wish people would quit whinging robbery when it's not.

I thought robberies were Sonnen vs. Bisping, Edgar vs. Penn 1, Kampmann vs. Shields.... and so on.

Could of gone either way, but I scored it to Henderson although I was cheering for Edgar.

I think Frankie should drop to 145 but even then don't see him getting past Aldo. He's been quite lucky in some fights but shows great heart to win.

I really dislike Henderson so I'm banking on Diaz to bring the 209 to him!

Are you serious? I bet you couldn't defend a Rousey takedown!

Rousey is a 4th Dan black belt and an Olympic bronze medallist in Judo, hence it is funking hard to defend against her TD's as she has mastered using leverage and using a persons momentum against them, and this goes for anyone with Judo in their arsenal. It's not as simple as sprawling to defend against a judoka!

I know right! Same goes for everyone who fights that GSP guy... They know he's going to shoot for a take down but it's like they don't know take down defence and just let him.

Rousey is a badass judoka, not many males under 155 could stop them let alone females @ 135...

i was getting at the fact that everyone knows what's coming. Geez. Looks like its the whole " I know more than you" crowd in here.

Of course i couldn't defend her take downs. Is the gap between Rousey and the rest of womens mma really that big? How unheard of is it to have someone win with one technique, especially a specific submission, in EVERY fight of their career. (Cody Mackenzie is close.... sort of)

Your kind of right in both instances. Really from what I've seen there has been 3 really impressive women fighters that really were ahead of the pack regardless of the marketing. That being Gina Carano, Cyborg and Rhonda.

So I would say yes her game is that much better. You have to understand womens mma is in its infancy. Kind of where mens MMA was in like 1998-2000 with you one dimentional but kind of hybrid athletes like Mark Coleman and Mark Kerr. Where although they weren't as one dimantional as the pioneers from the first 5 UFCs they still were only really good at one thing and only barely decent at everything else.

So it isn't really that Rhonda is so awesome it is just that WMMA is just at its beginning.

So that being said she is simply an amazing Judo fighter with obviously a wicked arm bar. When your grappling is just that much on a higher level than anyone else coupled with slick submissions it does make it easier to submit opponents.

First time in 11 years Zuffa has done so.

Henderson out due to torn MCL. Jon Jones offered short notice match with Chael Sonnen to save the PPV but turns it down in. He will now face Machida at UFC 152 in late September.

Yeah not a bad card. Good for Rhonda and Liz for putting on a great display of wmma.

Henderson and Machida was pretty average. But hey Machida did what he does and won that IMO.

Bermudez and Grice put on a sensational barn burner and put themselves in early contention for fight of the year.


Its a shame we won't see Rhonda vs. Cyborg since she can't make 135, and it seems like Zuffa have already begun to erase Cyborg from the history books after deliberately not including her in the recent 'History of Womens MMA' video recently released.

Overall I think it was a solid night of fights and worth the price of the PPV. although the Machida Hendo fight could have been so much more.
